This works for the job I had for it - Soldering Iron Tip Temperatures. I have a relatively low-powered Weller WP-25 ( 25 watts ) rated at maximum tip temperatures of 400 C. I tested two of my tips and measured 395 C on one tip and 350 C on another. So it's doing what I need. It's a tad slow reaching a stable reading at these temperatures - maybe 10-20 seconds - but I can live with that.

This probe has worked very well and I was very pleased with the two day delivery.

I love this surface probe. I'm using it with an Amprobe thermocouple thermometer (not included). It's way more accurate than a temp gun. This is because it uses the thermoelectric effect, which is not dependent on the material properties of the surface being measured. This is in stark contrast to a temp gun. Every material has a different emissivity, so one setting isn't valid on all surfaces, and you can't be completely confident the number you're reading is good. If you're a reptile keeper, I highly recommend you spend the extra money to get a decent thermocouple and this probe.

Works as it should with compatible temp meter. Time will tell how durable it is
