Are they fragile? Arms and legs looks not so durable.

I had mine for four years. The fingers can be individually positioned and the joints bent as you would a human arm. They were destroyed last year when I had a large fire in my pumpkin for effect. The flames licked the metal wires that you use to push it into the pumpkin and the heat transferred up the arm and burned the arms. After Halloween when the price comes down, I plan to buy more.

Can they be hot glued on to a foam pumpkin for a school project or are they too heavy?

There are 3 wires on the end of each arm and leg that insert into a pumpkin to hold them in place. I would imagine you could glue them in place for extra support. I used a foam craft pumpkin and the stay in place.
