Less quality than other Knickerbocker Classics editions, but still worth the money.
The Knickerbocker Classics Essential Charles Dickens, published in 2018, does not seem to live up to other volumes in the collection for a few reasons. Comparing it to the Edgar Allan Poe edition (2014), for example, shows that it is less glossy on the outside, and that the pages are discolored/grayed somewhat (less white). Aesthetically, indeed, the Charles Dickens volume is predominately characterized by overt grayness. *Unlike* with the Edgar Allan Poe book, too, the cloth seems to rub off in my hand after periods of reading, such to the point that a small amount of fluff is deposited thereon. I do not think it has damaged the volume in any way (the pattern and wording are still good), but it is worrisome. Otherwise, the text is readable, the volume is beautiful, and that which is contained inside obviously worthwhile. There is one improvement from the Edgar Allan Poe volume I can mention. The slipcase is of a similar quality to that of the Poe variety, but the Poe one is boringly patterned the same as the volume proper, which is amended by the Dickens volume to be of it's own character (showing an image possibly of London, or in the least, a city).

A wonderful book.
Outside of watching movies of Dickens work I have never read the books themselves. The actual written works are an absolute wonderful read. We all love the Christmas Carol, but Oliver Twist and Great Expectations are spell binding stories. Wonderfully written. LOVE CHARLES DICKENS!.
