For a few minutes, it smells like menthol. The smell does not stay on clothing or linger. It helped with pain too.

How strong and lasting would you say the menthol sensation is (not the odor, the sensation), compared with something like Mineral Ice?

The sensation depends upon the severity of your pain. I have chronic pain, so it lasts about 30 minutes for me, but at the same time, my pain level still continues to go way down.
