Perfect Pan
I have many expensive cookware (All-Clad) so I was hesitant to purchase a brand I had never heard of. I also have a wok that I rarely use due to maintenance requirements. This stainless steel wok pan has become my favorite cookware, and I use it for everything! I love the weight of it, much lighter than my All-Clad cookware. The 12-inch size and the wok shape is perfect, especially for pasta and stir fry’s. The stainless steel is easy to clean, and for some reason, food does not stick to it unlike my All-Clad cookware. I also love that it comes with a glass lid.

Perfect Base Diameter for My Glass Stovetop! Nice Depth! Beautiful Domed Lid!
First of all, I was very impressed that such a large pan arrived so well packed and in pristine condition! Here are some other reasons why I am so happy with this purchase: 1. All of my cookware is Tramontina 18/10 Stainless Steel Tri-Ply Clad, and I love them, but they do not make a stainless steel clad wok. The Cooks Standard Multi-Ply Clad Stainless-Steel 13-inch Wok looks very similar to the Tramontina line. So displaying it in my kitchen with the rest of my cookware will work out great. I just need to find a space for it, as it is quiet large with the lid. So excited! 2. Due to a wok's outside diameter, I cannot fit one on my smaller burners on the back of my Kenmore glass top stove, as it will hit the back where the controls are. The only way I can use a wok/wok-like pan on my stove, is to get one that has a base diameter that will fit one of my front burners. The smallest burner on the front of my stove is 8 1/2" (my stove manual says I cannot use a pan that is more than one inch larger or smaller than that). Every wok I've found has too small of a base diameter to fit on my front burner (5 1/2-6 1/2" - Calphalon, All-Clad, etc.). The Cooks Standard Multi-Ply Clad Stainless-Steel 13-inch Wok was the ONLY stainless steel clad wok that would work, as the part that actually touches the stove is exactly 7 1/2", then it gradually curves out from there. 3. I am also very impressed with the depth of this wok! It can hold a lot of food! The height of the pan, measuring vertically down from the top side of the rim to the stove surface, is 3 and 7/8 inches. 4. The pan is very well balanced, has a nicely shaped handle, and a wonderful helper handle! 5. And lastly, which I think is the most impressive about this wok, is the beautiful domed cover! What a showpiece, as well as a functional pan that is fun to cook in! The mirror finish on the cover, a well as the pan is just gorgeous! UPDATE (12/13/2013)! I have now purchased two of the steamers that are meant to fit on this pan (I stack them)! They are HUGE and hold a lot of food!! See "Cooks Standard NC-00247 Steamer Insert for Chef's Pan, 13-Inch/32cm." I purchased them when the price was $20.99 each, plus shipping. Previous to that, they were around $17-18.00. Now they are $30.00 each, plus shipping. Get them before they go any higher!! These will only add to the many things that you can do with these pans!! P.S. I really love cooking with this pan!! I just store the steamers on top of this pan on my shelf in my kitchen - the steamers fit perfectly on the pan, and the lid fits perfectly on the steamers! Makes a great set (and a great conversation piece too)!

Great Addition To My Kitchen!
I love my new wok! The stainless steal is so durable and it looks great too! With my other pans, the high heat really starts to wear on them after a while, and with food sticking and scrubbing clean, it really doesn't make matters any better. But this wok can really take the heat! It doesn't have too much of a problem with food sticking, but if anything does, just give it a nice soapy soak for a little bit and then cleanup will be a breeze. The size of it is great too, I can make an entrée for my whole family, and still have leftovers for tomorrow's lunch! The handle is super safe also. Usually with all-metal pans, a lot of the heat transfers to the handle and if you're not careful, you could accidentally burn your hand. Not with this wok! The open space between the handle and the wok itself helps eliminate a lot of the heat, so the handle doesn't heat up. I received this wok in exchange for an honest, unbiased review and all-in-all, I would say it's a great buy!

Great buy, but heavy.
Been using this wok for a few weeks now and I think it is absolutely amazing. I have been looking for a multi-tasker cookware that could take the abuse of my cooking style; I'm from Taiwan and I embraced the philosophy of cooking with extremely high heat. I like to cook with high heat that sear the outside of any ingredient initially then I can reduce the heat to cook it always the way through, this is not limited to only protein, more importantly for veggi too, that way veggi does not loose it's "crisp" and that's the secret to a good stir fry. However, the stove top in the States produces such a low heat that it will require me to leave the cook ware on the stove for a longer time to get to the desire heat. This will destroy most cook ware that's coated or ceramic. This wok does the job flawlessly, I was able to cook Steaks, stir fry, deep fry, and make soup all with this one wok. I was also surprised how my food does not really stick to the bottom of the pan while I was cooking, the first meal I made with this wok is a new York steak, and after heating the wok for a few min on high and place the steak down to sear for a quick min with minimum olive oil coated on the steak, when I flip the steak, it came off the wok easily and the wok looks no different than a coated or ceramic pan. The wok is also super easy to clean, after I finish cooking, all I do is pour some water in the hot pan and let the water dissolve whatever is sticked to the bottom of the pan, kind of like deglazing a pan. I am so pleased with this wok I end up buying another sauce pan. The reason I took one star off is because it is very heavy. For a wok, I'm use to light weight and thin construct, but this one is very heavy.

Big, beautiful pan, with a comfortable handle
The pan is beautiful. Polished handle and exterior. Brushed interior. The rivets appear to be stainless, with polished caps inside. The lid fits well. I was torn between a 5 quart skillet and this. I don't have room for both. I went with this because it seemed more versatile. The handle is so much more comfortable than those from All Clad, Cusinart, Calaphon, etc. When I was at the store, it was hard for me to believe how uncomfortable those companies' handles are. This is important because the pan weighs 4 pounds (actually 3lb 15oz). It is easy to handle using both handles, but is pretty heavy for lifting one handed. The handle is identical to the one on the 8 inch skillet. This pan is my general workhorse. The flat part of the bottom is a bit smaller than a skillet, so crowding can be an issue. If I'm just trying to brown something, I use a regular skillet for the wider bottom. I really like the high sloping sides that keep food in the pan when I'm stirring, so I tend to use it even if I don't need something big. It is perfect for things that cook down a lot: greens, chutney, etc. I haven't used it in the oven much yet, but I'm glad it has a stainless lid so I can go above 350F. I use it on a gas range. The handle stays cool where you're supposed to grab it. The heat is evenly distributed on the bottom. It browns things nicely. The sides cool gradually as you move away from the flat part. It cleans with minimal effort if you follow the guidelines mentioned in other reviews. This is a big pan. Make sure you have room for it. Some additional dimensions: * Pan is 3 3/4 inches deep * Pan is somewhere around 4 1/2 quarts capacity with an inch of depth to spare. 5 quarts is 3 inches deep. 4 quarts is 2 1/2 inches deep, 2 quarts is 1 1/2 inches deep * Lid dome is 3 1/2 inches high at the center. There's room for a chicken in there. * Someone else reported the flat part of the bottom is 9 inches. That's about right, forgot to measure it.

Wonderful
It is very good quality and I use it to replace my old 13" steamer pot that has only one thin layer stainless steel construction. Two old steam baskets fit well on it. Now I do not need to wait for 10 minutes to heat up the steam pot. I use to steam at least 16 big Chinese steam buns at one time. Plus, I use it as wok for many Chinese food. It is a bit heavy for one hand specially when you need to pour out something out of the wok to the plate. I am not really unhappy with this heavy weight. On contract, I try to train my right hand wrist muscle. My friend can lift 10 lbs. for one hand in exercise. I think I can use this wok for exercising my muscle instead of buying a 10 lb. weight hand bar. Hopefully I can get use to lift it up easier and easier in 2 months. It heats up fast and I sometimes use smaller lid to cook small amount food and use its original beautiful dome lid for larger amount food. Always be flexible to cook any kind of food. Very easy to clean, just wait it heat up before you put any oil in it. A very good beautiful collection for me! The price is just drop 10%after the New Year 2014....great for me to be patient till the price drop! Good deal !

This wok is multi functional and an excellent investment
This is one of the best woks I have purchased. It is heavy duty and is hardy. No matter the degree of heat you are cooking, the handle doesn’t at all get heated up and you can use your bare hand to lift the wok to transfer it onto another burner or elsewhere. It is very multifunctional. I have to date used it to make Indian curries, stir fries, Chinese noodles and pasta. It is like having 1 pot that fulfills all your cooking needs. The picture I am showing you is 2 weeks of using the pot daily and it is as good as new. It is also easy to clean and maintain..

Very well made, solid & heavy
Purchased this when our old steel version kept going rusty - this one is great - it is very solid albeit a bit heavy so be careful with it - however it is very well made and will likely last a lifetime.
