Clinical Microbiology Made Ridiculously Simple

It arrived on time, in perfect condition. i have absolutely NO problems regarding it. Wonderful book too, simple and easy to understand. There are a lot of small details missing, so as a medical student, it can only be used as a starter but it organises and delivers information very well and in an easy-to-memorise form. Much recommended.

Simply amazing !

Main drawback here is that it's a black and white book, even the 'boring' textbooks are colour. It's hard to 'buy into' the concept of the jokeyness of the book, but it has all the content you need. Lippincott's is heavier reading but has colour. Wouldn't put you off buying this considering the scarcity of 'easy' textbooks for med students who just want to get microbio out of the way.

I was having a pretty tough time remembering the in's and out's of each bacteria and virus type but this book makes everything very simple to understand. It uses conversational english and has random pictures as memory aids. It also summarises everything into tabular form at the end of each chapter! I only wish I bought this sooner.

I used this book for my USMLE step 1 prep, and I'm definitely glad I did. It's a great supplement to first aid. After taking the step 1, I can't help but feel grateful to the authors of this book. It has everything you need to do great on the exam. The illustrations were amusing. The summaries were clear and concise. The material is VERY high yield. It is a VERY easy read, I finished the entire book in 4 days and felt enlightened.

笑えるイラストと簡易な英語のおかげで楽しみながら読める教科書ですが、内容はかなり充実しています。やはりアメリカの教科書らしく、臨床分野の知識が日本の教科書よりも豊富に盛り込まれています。ある細菌の感染を疑った時に実際にどう行動すればいいか書いてあることも多く（菌の同定を待たずに即座にこれを投与! など）、とても実践的だと感じました。 標準微生物学も読みましたが、遺伝子の名前やら組み換え方やらがやたらと充実していて、これが実際何の役に立つんだろう？といった感じでした。その点この本は臨床に直結していて素晴らしいと思います。 よく言われることですがやはり日本の教科書は基礎研究向き、アメリカの教科書は臨床向きなのかもしれません。 余白も多いので、私は調べた単語をそこにメモしながら読みました。 なお、米国アマゾンの方で中身が少し見れます。 公開範囲には面白いイラストが含まれてないのが残念。

I bought this book to help me with microbiology during my pre-nursing coursework, and I'll be honest it didn't help TOO much with that, but it has definitely helped me since I started working in healthcare. The pictures are just funny enough to stick in your mind and help you remember, I don't know how long it would have taken me to figure out all the different types of antibiotics without this book. Everything is concise, funny, and easy to remember. It's really a great reference to have on hand.

This book is extremely well written. We were assigned to read Sherri's Medical Microbio, but it's a pretty dense read and easy to get lost in the details.I was concerned that this book would be missing content, but it really covers everything (maybe even a little more clinically orientated than Sherri's). I also used this book to review the microbio portion of Step 1. The first time I read it I took notes in all the pictures, so you can just flip through all the pictures when you need to brief review. The charts at the end of the chapters are really helpful too. I enjoyed the whole MRS series, especially the ones written by Goldberg.

This is a helpful book. I would not agree with the ridiculously positive view many of the reviewers have taken. It's very short, covers only the most important bugs, and does so in a very simplistic fashion. That is all for better or worse (if you are a typical med student with more on your plate than most people can imagine, I'd say better). At the end of the day micro is just a lot of memorization. When you are trying to learn 10 things about 15 bugs for the next test this book may not be the most helpful. Other books like Levinson's have better comparison charts (really the key to learning medical micro in my mind) and more complete text. The charts and text of a book like Levinson's make it a better reference.
