Tilley Hats LT5B Men's Lightweight Nylon Hat

I bought my famous Tilley (LT5B) hat through Amazon about 2 years ago. It fit great (sized as directed on the Tilley website with the 2 fingers extra), looked great (very stylish), and was one of my prized possessions. One day, I was driving an activity bus full of middle schoolers on a field trip. It was a hot day and all the windows were down. We were cruising home down the interstate towards home. I had placed my Tilley hat on the equipment rack above the seats. It was quite breezy inside the bus, and suddenly the kids yelled at me, "Coach, your hat blew out the window!!" Alas, my beloved Tilley hat was gone! Blown away! I was heartbroken to say the least and immediately made plans to order a replacement. However, I remembered ‘The Straight-Shooter’s Statement of Loss of a Tilley Hat’ insurance policy (check their website). If you lose a Tilley hat within 2 years of purchase, they will send you a replacement for 50% of the cost of a new hat. I called the Tilley 800 number and explained exactly what had happened. I can't say enough about the Tilley hat and the Tilley company. They stand behind their great products. I have since ordered a second Tilley hat from Amazon, so now I always have a backup on hand. The Tilley hat packs great, fits great, and wears great. It will last you a lifetime if you take care of it.

Picture for the listing shows a very different color than what is being shipped. It is a tan brown color and not the green tan shown in the picture. The brim is not stiff and so when wearing the hatIt collapses so it is flat and this makes it easy to tuck into checked luggage when traveling. I like the two wind straps which work well and are also to have out of the way when not needed. I wear a size 7-1/4 hat and the Tilley I ordered in that size is a perfect fit. Snug enough not to blow off but not so snug as to be uncomfortable.

When I lost one of these, I replaced it immediately. It's the one and only hat I have ever loved. It's durable, attractive, and not too heavy. If the hat is a little big, you can tighten the strap around the brim to get a better fit, but I advise you to measure your head carefully to get the best fit possible. I use it anytime I'm in the sun--hiking, attending concerts, working in the yard.

It’s light weight and my girlfriend says it improves my looks. Also, I’ve had skin cancer on my head and ears and this hat provides good sun protection. It’s not too hot on my head.

This hat is much lighter weight than other Tilly hats, and has a jaunty style that always receives compliments. The color is not too light that it starts to look grimy, but is a great neutral shade. Whether playing golf, taking a walk or traveling the streets of Paris or the 'Outback' you will be delighted by this hat. It's availability in sizes is a big help as I do not have one size fits all head. It is well worth the cost!

I've had a number of Tilley hats and have liked all of them. My previous one was made of this material and has held up well except that I didn't wash it often enough and it had some stains. This one is very comfortable and a bit darker shade.

I have always wanted a Tilley hat and finally got around to treating myself. I was concerned about fit but following the measuring guide, the hat fitted perfectly, the hats are Canadian sizing not UK and there is a difference. Whilst it is too soon to comment on performance I expect it perform as described, the only real test I have given it so far is in windy conditions where it stayed put, even without using the straps, where lesser hats on a 'one size fits all basis" would have blown off. A great hat with a not too large brim, yes it is expensive but as I have to wear a hat all the time I am outside, due to skin damage then for me well worth it.

I like the hat very much but am concerned that it is not a Tilley hat as the labels are in French not English and there are no user manual or Bragg tags as there should beI have other genuine Tilley hats that I know are genuine so can compareI think it could be a good fake but I like it at the moment will have to see how at lasts

This Tilley hat is perfect for Sailing, Hiking, walking, and even beach sunbathing, it protects my head in all weathers and stays on securely in all conditions, thanks to its built in retaining straps.The brim is perfect for me, but not wide enough for wearing without a shirt or Polo for walking in strong sunshine.The internal pocket for carrying information and currency is a wonderful attribute in a great piece of kit.Would recommend this product wholeheartedly.
