The kit is expansive and comes with enough to play with. It's high quality, easy to use, and suitable for both beginners and someone who just wants a kit with a bit of everything

In case you are not familiar with Arduino, it’s an open-source electronics platform that combines a series of single board microcontrollers and mostly C++ software. This kit includes a genuine UNO R4 WiFi controller board which has an additional chip on-board to add WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities. The UNO R4 is a 32-bit microcontroller with 256KB of flash memory, 32KB SRAM and 8KB EEPROM. The main CPU is a 48MHz Arm Cortex-M4 with floating point unit and incorporates a realtime clock, digital to analog converter and much more. You also get 14 digital I/O ports, 6 analog inputs (12-bit) plus a QWIC connector, I2C, SPI and UART connections. There’s even a 12x8 LED matrix display on the board! The kit also includes a smart metal case with transparent acrylic cover for the board, mounting screws, a small breadboard for prototyping circuits, a bundle of jumper wires, a bag of coloured LEDs, 220 Ohm resistors and a USB-C to USB-A power and programming cable. Note that no example projects or detailed instructions are included within the kit, however there are some links provided in a small leaflet to the official website where you can find many tutorials and examples to get started. The board comes supplied with a pre-installed program (called sketches in Arduino world) which when powered up displays a little animated light show on the built-in LED matrix. The provided case is decent quality and there’s even a little screwdriver in the box to fit the screws that hold the board inside. The perspex cover has some scratch protection blue film on which you should remove before use (sharp finger nails help!). If you enjoy electronics and tinkering with circuits, the Arduino platform opens up a whole new world of automation and projects. I’ve already built a small musical drum machine using just an Arduino and I’m planning a small weather station using the WiFi feature to connect to local internet weather channels. Once you’ve installed the free Arduino development platform from the website there are also plenty of example sketches you can try and experiment with changing the code. One of the big benefits of a microcontroller like Arduino over a microcomputer board is that it boots instantly. It also offers plenty of hardware inputs and outputs for use with tactile switches, variable controls or adding displays. In summary this is a good starter kit for someone who already has a basic understanding of electronics and Arduino, or for anyone looking to add another Arduino board and hardware to their collection. The kit assumes some familiarity with both Arduino and electronic components and for absolute beginners, it would benefit from more detailed printed instructions and examples tin the box to get users started.
