By far the best mobile SSD solution I've tried.
I'm a filmmaker that always tries to test new and better tools to get the job done. And this was by far the best experience to externally record ProRes Raw video with the iPhone (16 Pro Max in my case). Do yourself a favor and get the hub just so you're able to both connect wireless microphones and keep the phone charged whilst in use. The U-shaped adapter to move the drive towards the back of the phone makes it easier to mount the phone on a gimbal without worrying it would limit movement. It weights almost nothing, and you'd barely feel the difference unless using a scale.

Initially did not work...then we fixed it
Well, to be fair it was not really a fix. It was simply not plugged in all the way. Sometimes we have had this issue with USB-C connections - the last little bit of insertion is tighter on some devices. Once we figured it out, it connected out of the box to our iPhone and we were able to record ProRes 120 directly to the drive and we could browse the files in the files app. The included accessories are nice. The hub is a great addition and you can attach wireless mics and small lights. If you have a rig, there is also an attachment with a cord and mount. The drive has a nice rubber bumper that is removable. They supply a little stack of labels too. Our speed tests found that they were fast enough not to drop frames when recording at the highest settings. Our only minor complaints were that the included connectors require that the iPhone be completely naked (it would not insert even with the thinnest of cases installed), the drive itself has a non-standard USB-C MALE connector so you cannot use any third-party cords (drive needs to be plugged in directly to the iPhone or only with the included adapters), and the included lanyard works only with the small plastic case - there is no lanyard loop on the drive.

Fast Enough to Outrun My Anxiety
This little yellow SSD is faster than the thoughts racing through my head at 3am. I plugged it in, blinked, and my 4K footage was already halfway copied. It’s so fast and compact, I’m 90% sure it’s powered by sorcery or some alien tech from Area 51. Rugged? I dropped it once and it bounced like it was built for parkour. Also, it’s bright yellow — so I finally stopped losing my drives in my backpack. If Batman edited YouTube videos, this would be in his utility belt.

Beware of the heat🔥
I would have given this product 5 ⭐️’s if it wasn’t for how fast this overheats! I mean hot 🥵… not only does this get hot but it definitely heats up your phone as well. I wish they would come up with a solution because I really want to love this product. Before it heats up it works like a champ. I haven’t lost any files due to the heat so that’s still a plus. Still utilizing it till this day.🤙

Not ideal for people who charge MacBook with USB-C
Everything works well, except if you are used to charging your MacBook with the USB-C, you can’t insert this device on the second USB-C at the same time as it kind of gets in the way.

Does not seem to work with iPhone 16 pro max
Does not work with iPhone 16 pro max which is unfortunately the reason I purchased it. Memory is good for Mac though so despite this I will keep it. Please be aware that it seems that probably the power requirements for the memory are not sufficiently met by the iPhone. Yes that means on full charge iphone16pro max running the most up to date software and having searched online for a solution…
