No, it just works as an extension to the sun visor for when the sun is low in the sky. The slide out sections are solid and do not allow any light through.

Q: How long is the side extension? I'd like to work out if it will fully cover the length of the side window.

It’s not leather. I love it cause I’m only short. More like a heavy cardboard.
