What can you say? For the price, this reel is excellent. I bought this reel because I'm returning to float fishing after many years of sea-angling, and I didn't want to spend a lot before I know if I'll stick with it. After using multipliers and huge fixed-spool reels, this reel feels small, but it is well-made, runs smoothly and won't break your heart if you smash it up. Having had Baitrunners in the past, I wanted a name that I recognise and Shimano doesn't disappoint with this budget offering.I would recommend this reel for beginners in the sport or for people who're on a budget.P.S. A lady below has mentioned the packaging, or lack of, it IS just a Shimano box - no manuals or spare parts. However, this is fairly normal. And not something I would complain about.

Very happy, good reliable reel, first fish I caught on it was a 17 lb common carp and it handled it really well, id be worried if I had a fish above 20lbs on it though but to be fair its not really made for big fish

It works nicely for the price and does the job, just not quite as good as a similar reel I already have that was shop bought.Update - July 2017. I was wanting to purchase a new reel and was contemplating another one of these but decided to go for a "Lurehunter spinning reel" that came from China, as it had good reviews. After two days of ownership I wished I had gone for the Hyperloop instead. May well purchase another anyway as over the last year, though it has not had a lot of use, it is actually a nice reel to use and excellent value at £15 (the Lurenunter cost me £26 !)

This is the second shimano hyperloop 2500 RB I've got, I had a Shakespeare zeta reel the anti reverse broke inside, so neede a spinning reel for my two rods (Abu Garcia & Shakespeare) after I got the first reel I realised how good they was for the price so ordered the second one. I recommend these reels good to use & a nice price

Smooth as a babies bum. Good price. I've not used this yet, but I bought my lad one last year and he caught his first carp on it, he's very pleased with it. My previous Shimano is over 20yo, and still as smooth as the day I bought it. I'm hoping this one will live up to that. Bought to replace my ancient Mitchell 304 which Im retiring after decades of unfailing service, but not up to larger fish.

I purchased this reel to use with my Shimano floater rod for surface fishing in the summer. It looks a super piece of kit for the money. Shimano reels are the best in my opinion and this one looks like it will be as good as the others I have. Nice and light which it needs to be holding the rod for lengthy periods. I will give an update as soon as I use it.

Excellent reel with rear drag control and push button spool release - superior design compared to most other manufacturers. So bought another one for a friend. Note spare spools are available.

I bought this as a small travel reel, it's very much a mini version of my usual Shimano Baitrunner, great action, casts well and doesn't overspool and make a mess. The only drawback is it needs a light line which can be a problem if you hook something big. But for a compact travel reel, it's very good.
