Had this for a minute now and it works fine. When I first I stalled it I found it would boot up without sound but classic, on and off again, and it was working fine. That has since ceased probably a software update has seen it off.Sets itself up practically, so dead easy. Better than the previous version, as you'd hope. A little pricey but should last for ages and will get plenty of use. Picture quality great and connectivity is easy.

Nearly nine months have passed since that glorious day, and I am utterly delighted to report that my television setup has transformed from a chaotic psychiatric ward into an oasis of civilised perfection. I have suffered literally zero issues.​If the 2025 Firestick 4K is a battered, dented hatchback being driven over a roundabout the wrong way by an unhinged lunatic, this Google box is a whisper-quiet Rolls-Royce gliding smoothly over velvet. The comparison between the two is laughably, absurdly one-sided. Where the Firestick constantly bombards your retinas with a chaotic, sluggish labyrinth of promoted clutter while its underpowered processor gasps for air, the Google TV Streamer responds to your inputs with instantaneous, military precision. It packs a proper 32 gigabytes of internal storage, meaning it doesn't run out of memory and panic like a cornered rodent the second you dare to install more than three applications.​And the sheer, unbridled technical muscle hiding inside this sleek porcelain wedge is frankly heroic. I regularly use my Google TV Streamer to beam full 4K PC games over Moonlight straight to my massive home projector, controlling the frantic, high-speed action via Bluetooth using a Steam Controller. On paper, demanding this level of low-latency performance from a streaming puck should cause it to burst into flames, emit a sad puff of blue smoke, and melt through the floorboards. Yet it handles the entire ordeal with the nonchalant ease of an aristocratic gentleman buttering a scone. The visual quality delivered through Dolby Vision is mind-bogglingly crisp, and the Dolby audio output is rich, deep, and deeply satisfying.​Now, I am well aware that a few furious internet pedants have whipped themselves into a feverish rage because Google built this unit with Wi-Fi 5 rather than Wi-Fi 6. To those spec-sheet fetishists, I say: you are talking absolute rot. Despite lacking the very latest wireless acronym, I am streaming uncompressed 4K gameplay and massive, bandwidth-choking movies across my house without a single dropped frame, stutter, or hiccup. It performs flawlessly, day in and day out. It is genuinely one of the single best technology purchases I have made in years. It has completely restored my sanity, banished the maniac Firestick to the dustbin of history, and made turning on the television a pure joy again. Buy one immediately.

With 4GB of RAM, it feels snappy and well-equipped for the future.Let's get through the cons first because there are not many of them:• Connectivity: There is only one USB-C port, which is dedicated solely to power. An extra port either USB-A or USB-C. for external media would have been perfect.• The Remote: It is a bit small and dainty. It is very easy to lose. It is not really ergonomically comfortable at all. And if you do lose it, I will write more about it in the positives, you do have an option to find it. I do wish it was a slightly larger.• Pricing: At the standard £99, it feels a bit steep, though it is an absolute bargain if you can catch it on sale for £70.Now on to the positives:• Performance: 4GB of RAM for a smooth interface and 32GB of storage, which is a significant upgrade over standard streaming sticks. I do not have any sort of lag at all. It is quite snappy to use. It plays everything I have thrown at it, and it has a wide variety of apps. As I said, it is officially supported by BBC iPlayer, so you have that. There aren't many Android TV streamers around that have 4GB of RAM. The majority of them have 2 or less. But 4GB is very nice.• Versatility: Supports 4K HDR, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and Dolby Atmos for a premium audio-visual experience.• Connectivity: Includes an Ethernet port, providing a rare and stable high-bitrate connection. This is pretty rare in Google TV devices. It's good that it has an Ethernet port and obviously has Wi-Fi as well as standard.• Design: Features a physical button on the back of the device to help locate a misplaced remote.• Flexibility: There is a lot to customise on the Google TV platform. There are different apps to download and a lot of different settings to make it more suitable for your needs.• The device includes built-in Thread support, which is incredibly useful for managing multiple smart home devices directly through the Google TV interface. You can also control your smart home appliances using the voice-enabled remote, simply hold the mic button to issue commands like 'turn off the lights' or to pause your content. It’s a brilliant, streamlined experience.Pro Tip: Customise Your LauncherIf you find the default interface too cluttered with ads, I highly recommend using a third-party launcher like 'Monet'. For a small one-time fee (around £5), it allows you to strip away the unwanted promotional content and customise the home screen to show only the apps you actually use. It makes the whole experience feel much cleaner and faster. You can get this on the Google Play Store and it is very easy to customise. You can make it as simple or as complicated as you want. It is brilliant, very fast and snappy. It will get you right into your apps straight away.Overall, this is a top-tier streaming option that handles everything I've thrown at it with ease.

When my Roku box broke a neighbour convinced me to try fire stick but I really didn't get on with the interface. I found it too busy and the connection was poor due to my Wi-Fi being busy with other devices. So I changed to a Google Streamer. It was easy to set up and you can have an app only mode without the pushing content - perfect for the family. Because it has the Ethernet cable it's a super fast connection. My only criticism is I had problems with the remote control not working for the volume so I unpaired it and it refused to pair back and the whole device froze so I had to do a factory reset meaning I had to download and enter my password into all the apps again. With previous devices where the pairing has not worked I could use an alternative but because I was using ethernet not Wi-Fi I could not use the Google app to control the device. Apart from this everything was easy to do. A quick update to say I've had problems with the sound and picture not synchronizing and apparently this is a common issue with Google streamer so just a word of caution because this did not happen with the fire stick.

I moved to the streamer from a Chromecast HD and have found the streamer to be much more stable and much quicker in starting apps. No dropouts after a few months the new remote is fine to use being a little bit larger than the old one.Although I cannot hide the streamer in the same way as the old Chromecast it is unobtrusive next to the TV. Had it duirng Prime day so knocked a few quid of the usual price and feel very happy with it.

I bought this Google TV device to watch Italian TV while living in the UK. COMPLETE DISASTER.❌ Geoblocks everywhere: even with VPN active, Google detects it and still blocks everything — useless❌ Cannot customise: locked launcher, sideloading apps is a nightmare, ads everywhere you CANNOT remove❌ Updates break everything automatically: resets settings, disables features, no way to stop them❌ Zero support: impossible to reach anyone when things go wrongTotal waste of money. My old Fire Stick worked perfectly — huge mistake switching. Do NOT buy if you live outside Italy, it’s a trap. Absolute garbage.

I haven't tested the Matter or the thread border router, but everything else is fantastic. My partner is from another country, so being able to install a VPN directly onto it to and use streaming apps from other countries allows us to share movies and shows - we both love - with each other, without the need for a pihole etc. Casting from my phone works perfectly too.The remote can also control volume and mute of soundbars, as well as being able to turn the TV on and off with CEC via HDMI, or just using the built in IR. I've also connected bluetooth headphones with no issues, to watch things quietly. And being able to run google home automations directly from the streamer is great too.The only downside is the colour, but a soft silicone case solved that, and so now it's very discreet.

For the price i would have expected better- the box came damaged- Dolby vision is glitchy and lags on Disney plus and apple tv apps. The app support however is great and I love the google eco system - i just think the price might not be justified with these shortcomings

I am.very happy with the purchase. The device is a no nonsense approach. Minimalistic design and very practical. User interface is nice and simple, content loads up faster.Unboxing time and setup time was almost same. I bought this because I wanted a device which is independent of TV and can connect to my AV receiver else could have bought Amazon Firestick also.If one looks at the initial cost and compares , it may look bit pricey but given that it is from Google and offers a wider platform for choice of apps and better hardware, I feel the additional amount will not hurt.The remote is designed very esthetically and pratically.

I bought this amazing piece of tech to pair it with my Hisense U7N which comes with VIDAA OS. The primary reason to buy this is because it is Android and the freedom that comes with it. I customized it to the core and since it is from Google you will only get the latest updates first.Pros:-Customization and freedom of Android-Latest updates directly from google-It will work as expected unlike other TV boxes/dongles-The remote is nice and small-Customizable button to launch any app or change inputs for the TVCons:-The SOC is old (Manufactured in 2021)-No warranty in India-You will see ads everywhere, make sure to change the launcherAreas of Improvement:-In rare cases you may see a black screen between cuts of any local media if it is 4K Dolby Vision H265, you will not see the same issue with streaming apps. (The workaround is to use Vimu player and disable Dolby Vision to watch the local content in HDR 12bit)-Alternate Android updates (A12 to 14 to upcoming 16) which isn't really an issue because the security patches will take care of vulnerabilities-Needs a USB Type-C Hub for connecting USB devices to the streamer (This won't be an issue if you use SMB/FTP from your PC or run a local server on your network)-We can't personalize the screensaver-Not value for money since Indian users will consider TVs with Android pre installed and Google doesn't manufacture the device here.This should only be considered as a necessity when your smart TV doesn't come with Android pre installed and you have extra cash available to spend. I'd recommend waiting for the next NVIDIA Sheild which will support latest features at the time and also future proof itself for another decade with its performance.I don't have much to say about the connectivity side since I use Ethernet and Bluetooth works as expected.People complaining about the US plug should know that this item is imported and Google doesn't make the brick for the Indian market.

J'ai cru qu'il allait remplacer mon décodeur Orange vers ma télé dernier cri.Mais c'est un appareil qui fait un "traitement informatique complexe" de ce qui arrive de la Livebox.Et il envoie un signal à la télé. En théorie il rend le décodeur inutile.Mais en pratique les télés à qui il envoie son signal de sortie ont un mal de chien à synchroniser parfaitement son et image (sauf si vous avez une télé à 10 000 euros, qui a aussi fait un passage entre les mains d'ingénieurs google à Mountain View).Alors je suis revenu à mon "vieux" décodeur Orange, et les gens à l'écran ont les mouvements de la bouche et les sons de nouveau synchronisés.
