I decided to upgrade our venerable Roku Stick to something a bit more modern with more functionality and that gives us a better picture on our Hisense 4k tv.This device fits the bill perfectly and was so easy to physically install. The instructions are however rather sparse and it took me a while work out how to install and delete Apps. The voice control was a great help in that regard. I removed a lot of the pre installed apps but added Now TV and Plex. They work a treat and give a quality stable picture.The remote control automatically takes over some the basic TV functionality and has the added advantage of Voice control.That said, I have had some difficulty reliably using the Home App (Chromecast) casting feature with my new Google Pixel 11 Pro mobile (Android 17) but all is fine from my (Android 14) Honor tablet.So, I rather suspect an issue with the Home app on Android 17 rather than this device. Google have certainly had a good poke about with this functionality in this latest version of Android.In summary, this is not the cheapest of this type of device but it boasts good build quality, proper support and a host of features that I am still discovering.Beware of the plethora of alternative cheap "Chromecast" devices available on Amazon and the auction site. Some even falsely claim to be Google devices! Many use the Miracast App for casting - which requires a monthly subscription - unless you want to be inundated with intrusive ads.If you can afford it, this is the device to go for. Alternatively, Roku (4k) boxes are good value.

Easy to set up and good price if discounted. Good remote control and app from google to control with phone. Good compact design and any apps available with full play store for android tv. You can watch all the streaming services and live TV through main TV apps like I Player ITV etc. Would be unbeatable if TV providers like Virgin Sky had option to use this instead of their streaming devices. This would be quicker and easier to use. Freely is missing as well from the App Store. I have a main TV with Freely and my aerial is broken. I’ll use options like this because I’m not replacing that in 2026. Only downside is there’s no HDMI supplied so make sure you have one spare before you buy. The remote has batteries so a plus there. With google updates this should last years and the software is very good and feels clean compared to smart TV.

Had this for a minute now and it works fine. When I first I stalled it I found it would boot up without sound but classic, on and off again, and it was working fine. That has since ceased probably a software update has seen it off.Sets itself up practically, so dead easy. Better than the previous version, as you'd hope. A little pricey but should last for ages and will get plenty of use. Picture quality great and connectivity is easy.

I’ve used the Google Streamer 4K for around 6 months and I have been largely happy with it. Navigation is fast, the remote is comfortable to use and pretty much every mainstream app is available from the App Store. I have a full fibre service connected by Ethernet so no sign of buffering issues (I’m unable to comment on WiFi performance, never used it). A few things I’ve noticed, the remote has a semi regular habit of becoming unresponsive requiring the removal of batteries then reinserting them. Note that if you subscribe to NOW TV the Google Streamer 4K cannot currently deliver NOW 4K HDR or Atmos however, it can deliver 4K HDR and Atmos on many other streaming services such as Netflix and HBO MAX. I think it’s a good device, some may think it’s a bit overpriced compared to similar devices.

Nearly nine months have passed since that glorious day, and I am utterly delighted to report that my television setup has transformed from a chaotic psychiatric ward into an oasis of civilised perfection. I have suffered literally zero issues.​If the 2025 Firestick 4K is a battered, dented hatchback being driven over a roundabout the wrong way by an unhinged lunatic, this Google box is a whisper-quiet Rolls-Royce gliding smoothly over velvet. The comparison between the two is laughably, absurdly one-sided. Where the Firestick constantly bombards your retinas with a chaotic, sluggish labyrinth of promoted clutter while its underpowered processor gasps for air, the Google TV Streamer responds to your inputs with instantaneous, military precision. It packs a proper 32 gigabytes of internal storage, meaning it doesn't run out of memory and panic like a cornered rodent the second you dare to install more than three applications.​And the sheer, unbridled technical muscle hiding inside this sleek porcelain wedge is frankly heroic. I regularly use my Google TV Streamer to beam full 4K PC games over Moonlight straight to my massive home projector, controlling the frantic, high-speed action via Bluetooth using a Steam Controller. On paper, demanding this level of low-latency performance from a streaming puck should cause it to burst into flames, emit a sad puff of blue smoke, and melt through the floorboards. Yet it handles the entire ordeal with the nonchalant ease of an aristocratic gentleman buttering a scone. The visual quality delivered through Dolby Vision is mind-bogglingly crisp, and the Dolby audio output is rich, deep, and deeply satisfying.​Now, I am well aware that a few furious internet pedants have whipped themselves into a feverish rage because Google built this unit with Wi-Fi 5 rather than Wi-Fi 6. To those spec-sheet fetishists, I say: you are talking absolute rot. Despite lacking the very latest wireless acronym, I am streaming uncompressed 4K gameplay and massive, bandwidth-choking movies across my house without a single dropped frame, stutter, or hiccup. It performs flawlessly, day in and day out. It is genuinely one of the single best technology purchases I have made in years. It has completely restored my sanity, banished the maniac Firestick to the dustbin of history, and made turning on the television a pure joy again. Buy one immediately.

With 4GB of RAM, it feels snappy and well-equipped for the future.Let's get through the cons first because there are not many of them:• Connectivity: There is only one USB-C port, which is dedicated solely to power. An extra port either USB-A or USB-C. for external media would have been perfect.• The Remote: It is a bit small and dainty. It is very easy to lose. It is not really ergonomically comfortable at all. And if you do lose it, I will write more about it in the positives, you do have an option to find it. I do wish it was a slightly larger.• Pricing: At the standard £99, it feels a bit steep, though it is an absolute bargain if you can catch it on sale for £70.Now on to the positives:• Performance: 4GB of RAM for a smooth interface and 32GB of storage, which is a significant upgrade over standard streaming sticks. I do not have any sort of lag at all. It is quite snappy to use. It plays everything I have thrown at it, and it has a wide variety of apps. As I said, it is officially supported by BBC iPlayer, so you have that. There aren't many Android TV streamers around that have 4GB of RAM. The majority of them have 2 or less. But 4GB is very nice.• Versatility: Supports 4K HDR, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and Dolby Atmos for a premium audio-visual experience.• Connectivity: Includes an Ethernet port, providing a rare and stable high-bitrate connection. This is pretty rare in Google TV devices. It's good that it has an Ethernet port and obviously has Wi-Fi as well as standard.• Design: Features a physical button on the back of the device to help locate a misplaced remote.• Flexibility: There is a lot to customise on the Google TV platform. There are different apps to download and a lot of different settings to make it more suitable for your needs.• The device includes built-in Thread support, which is incredibly useful for managing multiple smart home devices directly through the Google TV interface. You can also control your smart home appliances using the voice-enabled remote, simply hold the mic button to issue commands like 'turn off the lights' or to pause your content. It’s a brilliant, streamlined experience.Pro Tip: Customise Your LauncherIf you find the default interface too cluttered with ads, I highly recommend using a third-party launcher like 'Monet Launcher'. For a small one-time fee (around £5), it allows you to strip away the unwanted promotional content and customise the home screen to show only the apps you actually use. It makes the whole experience feel much cleaner and faster. You can get this on the Google Play Store and it is very easy to customise. You can make it as simple or as complicated as you want. It is brilliant, very fast and snappy. It will get you right into your apps straight away.Overall, this is a top-tier streaming option that handles everything I've thrown at it with ease.

I bought this Google TV device to watch Italian TV while living in the UK. COMPLETE DISASTER.❌ Geoblocks everywhere: even with VPN active, Google detects it and still blocks everything — useless❌ Cannot customise: locked launcher, sideloading apps is a nightmare, ads everywhere you CANNOT remove❌ Updates break everything automatically: resets settings, disables features, no way to stop them❌ Zero support: impossible to reach anyone when things go wrongTotal waste of money. My old Fire Stick worked perfectly — huge mistake switching. Do NOT buy if you live outside Italy, it’s a trap. Absolute garbage.

Good streamer. Is quicker than the last 4K Google tv one. Looks nice too. Not too big or small. Okay value for money. Better sound than the other Google chromecast.

Today the device has delivered and I am writing this review after the initial setup for my kids request.I have been an avid admirer of Mi box 4k which I purchased is 2020 and was working still like a charm, but unfortunately it got confiscated at the airport in suspicion of a power bank.I tried for all possible options branded options available in the market, but to my surprise only fire tv was flooded in the market and hard or impossible to get brands like mi, realme and Motorola streaming device as all were out of stock till date.So back to story I found this google tv box got available on Amazon and ordered immediately.The setup was a charm, although I saw reviews of how hard it was to setup.And believe me I have done the setup from my iPhone 14 Pro and within 10-15 mins it was done.Still more to explore but this device has all the power and working like a charm.Really happy with the initial feel , lot to explore - the side load capability for 3rd party apps etc.Will resume my feedback.

I am.very happy with the purchase. The device is a no nonsense approach. Minimalistic design and very practical. User interface is nice and simple, content loads up faster.Unboxing time and setup time was almost same. I bought this because I wanted a device which is independent of TV and can connect to my AV receiver else could have bought Amazon Firestick also.If one looks at the initial cost and compares , it may look bit pricey but given that it is from Google and offers a wider platform for choice of apps and better hardware, I feel the additional amount will not hurt.The remote is designed very esthetically and pratically.

J'ai cru qu'il allait remplacer mon décodeur Orange vers ma télé dernier cri.Mais c'est un appareil qui fait un "traitement informatique complexe" de ce qui arrive de la Livebox.Et il envoie un signal à la télé. En théorie il rend le décodeur inutile.Mais en pratique les télés à qui il envoie son signal de sortie ont un mal de chien à synchroniser parfaitement son et image (sauf si vous avez une télé à 10 000 euros, qui a aussi fait un passage entre les mains d'ingénieurs google à Mountain View).Alors je suis revenu à mon "vieux" décodeur Orange, et les gens à l'écran ont les mouvements de la bouche et les sons de nouveau synchronisés.
