Stops the water from draining.
This did exactly what I needed it to do, stopped the water from draining in my utility sink. My drain measures 1-3/4" diameter at the top opening and funnels down to a measurement of about 1-1/2". I bought the 1-1/2" since *currently* the description says it fits drains from 1-1/2" to 2". The rubber stopper pushes down about 1/2" but it does stop the water. I do not see how this would work with a 2" drain opening. The stopper would appear to be too small. The stopper itself measures just under 1-3/4" across the top (hard to measure exactly with the bump and ring there) and 1-1/2" across the bottom. Many of the reviews complained about the metal ring pulling out from the stopper, so I was prepared to fix that but when I received it, I pulled and pulled on it and it was on there good - so I didn't do anything and it has stayed on great and feels nice and tight. At the time of this review, the descriptions for the different size stoppers are all over the place but for mine, the quoted size (1-1/2") is the diameter of the bottom of the stopper and it widens out about another 1/4" at the top. Keep in mind, the stopper is made of rubber, so when you push it into the drain it will contract and needs to be tight in order to hold the water back from draining.

Works after small modification
I had read the reviews before ordering and realized most of these plugs have the same problems with the metal ring sliding off.I got the idea of using a keyring since I had a bunch laying around I just drilled a hole and problem solved, it was worth the $3.00 price of this plug as opposed to the other ones at triple that price.Edit: It fits my 1&3/4 drain well, I could not detect any leaking.

The 1 1/8” fit my 1 1/8” drain flush
I needed this for a 1 1/8” bathroom sink drain. The plug/stopper I received fit flush with the sink and did not leak. It worked great. I thought the middle of the plug/stopper’s tapered shape would be the size measurement, but it turned out that the widest (top) end was 1 1/8.”

It works!
It worked well and cost only a dollar or two. Great value. Wish it came in black though!

ok...
I'm not going to lie. It took a lot of trial and error for me to figure out the right bathtub drain size that I needed. I ordered...too small...ordered again...to large...ordered again...almost, but not quite...ordered again....just right. Actually, went to Walmart and brought a 3 pack of various sizes and just tried them all until I got the right snug fit I needed. The sizes were on each drain plug and that's how I figured out which one I needed. Great thing about getting them through Amazon is that you can get --just--the size you need and not pay for 2 additional sizes that you'll never use. The price is acceptable for a little plastic drain plug. The only thing that I have noticed recently is that I tried to clean my tub and part of that process--for me--is that I fill the tub with a mix of water, bleach and ajax after scrubbing and let it sit overnight to really get it super clean and had this little stopper in the drain. The next morning, it had all drained out. This really surprised me because water stays in the tub for my baths but water drained out during an overnight clean, so---what I would say is that it is only going to hold for maybe a good hour or so, before the water begins to slow drain out....You may notice it, you may not, but don't look for it to hold water for an extended period of time.

Can't complain for the money
Does what it's supposed to do. It barely fills my 1 1/2 in drain and if there were not a block below where a screw plug goes in, it's possible it could get pushed all the way down while trying to remove. That said, once there is water in the tub, it completely holds as you would expect. A bit of a pain to get out. Pulling on the ring just pulls the ring off. Instead, I just pull on the rubber bit on top and kind of twist it out. Can't complain for the $2 or whatever I paid for this thing. Expect to get many years use out of it.

Quality of Rubber is Okay, but the Ring is Rubbish
I have purchased these stoppers a few times over the years. The quality of the rubber is pretty decent. The rubber will discolour after a while, but I suppose that is to be expected after prolonged use. I have one that is several years old now, and the rubber has not cracked or crumbled, but the rubber first darkened, and then later it took on a pink hue. I thought this very odd, but it did not affect function. However, the metal rings they put on these stoppers are complete rubbish. They must buy the metal rings 1000 for $1.00. The rings are so worthless that they might as well not add them at all. They are so flimsy that they will pull off the stopper not long after you start using the stopper, and I found that once they come off of the stopper, they are impossible to get back on. Then you have to struggle to remove the stopper from the drain hole. That is my one big criticism other than price.I think some sizes are overpriced. The one I just purchased for my old iron bathtub that fit is a 1 3/8" . I measured my drain hole, and it should have taken a 1.5", but that size was too big. The 1.25" was too small. If you use one that is a tad too large the way I did with the 1.5" inch, then it will pop out of the drain continuously whilst your precious bath water runs down the drain. This 1 3/8" seems to be the perfect size for my bathtub, but if after using it for a while it proves problematic, I will edit this review.

Awesome Review On A Boring Product
It stops the water from going down my master bathroom drain. Hard not to give it 5 stars. Ideally I would have liked a chain to attached to my faucet but at this price point and the number of times I actually need to fill or partially fill my bathroom sink it was worth the cost of doing business. My review all aside what does this say about you? You sitting around doing nothing important and so bored you’re reading a review a sink stopper. These maybe be sad boring days for you my friend. If my review helped or hindered you from making this purchase, that’s on you. Is it sadder to read a review of a sink stopper or write a review of it? Read. By a lonely country mile. I only wrote this to stop amazon from sending me email after email requesting my review.Enjoy the rest of your day, stay in school, always wear sunscreen and be good to yourself.

Perfect
It fits, it was a good price, and the water doesn't drain. What more could you ask for. Sometimes a simple tried and true product is the best even if it's not the flashiest. Lol flashy drain plug.

Doesn't fit the drain
This is slightly too small to fit a 1¼-inch drain. It sinks right in, and doesn't stop water from draining out. Then it gets jammed, and you can't pull it out. Complete waste of money.

Will fit a 1 inch drain.
It is 1 inch at the bottom, but if your drain is only 1 inch you have to push it in for a leak proof plug. I have looked for smaller plugs but have not found. This one works.
