If youโve experienced a traumatic event, you may feel a wide range of emotions, such as anxiety, anger, fear, and depression. The truth is that there is no right or wrong way to react to trauma; but there are ways that you can heal from your experience, and uncover your own capacity for resilience, growth, and recovery. Overcoming Trauma and PTSD offers proven-effective treatments based in acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help you overcome both the physical and emotional symptoms of trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This book will help you find relief from painful flashbacks, insomnia, or other symptoms you might be experiencing. Also included are worksheets, checklists, and exercises to help you start feeling better and begin your journey on the road to recovery. This book will help you manage your anxiety and stop avoiding certain situations, cope with painful memories and nightmares, and determine if you need to see a therapist. Perhaps most importantly, it will help you to develop a support system so that you can you heal and move forward. Review: Clear and accessible - Excellent book. The tenets of ACT, CBT, and DBT are complex, and this book distills the active ingredients into manageable and understandable terms. The emotional regulation component for PTSD is especially useful. The worksheets and exercises are simple, and very effective. My Clients have stated that they have felt this book has been very helpful for them. I highly recommend this book for working with a Veteran population, and for those working with complex trauma. Review: great book for clients - This book is very well written and explains trauma and PTSD symptoms and effects. It a great book for clients to help explain their symptoms and reaction in ways they can relate to. I received a lot of information that i could write in a paper i needed for my masters program and it was very informative it gave plenty of examples to use in therapy.

Overcoming Trauma and PTSD: A Workbook Integrating Skills from ACT, DBT, and CBT
Dr. Raja has done a masterful job at integrating the core psychoeducational and skills acquisition components of ACT, DBT, and CBT into a most compassionate, clear, and accessible workbook for those individuals struggling with PTSD and Trauma-related conditions. This workbook is a wonderful and empowering resource for both patients and clinicians alike.

Pretty decent . . .
It is my job to give Therapy, and I like this book. It doesn't go to the depth that I would prefer in a perfect world, but it is still really helpful and a good support for a therapist. It is very easy to read and doesn't go off into too much abstract content. I don't regret the purchase. I do wish the author didn't have a copy right limit on the worksheets etc though. That blows.

Great Purchase
I bought this on Kindle and went through applicable exercises. Excellent purchase, but the Kindle Edition I bought wouldnโt work on my iPad after a few years.

Good for mild cases, not so good for complex ones
This really only works for people with mild PTSD. Even then it's not a substitute for care. If you have a complex case, you'll just find yourself checking all the boxes inside, which means that the book is essentially useless. Find a therapist and journal in general. I think this book would be great for people whose cases are not all that severe, or who have a cluster of symptoms. As a person with complex PTSD, I found myself overwhelmed by frustration as I checked box after box.

Quite helpful
This book takes the time to explain facts and lay out step by step instructions for various scenarios. The worksheets are also quite helpful, but i feel the cost could be more reasonable.
