Folds flat, works well, travel, dishwasher, tent!
Snowpeak engineering, so fabulous design, brand name folds more flat, less bendy, worth the money! Take any cheap round paper filter, fold in half (half moon) then fold over about a third, now you have a cone that fits perfectly, throw out or compost when done. No need to even rinse in between uses although it’s stainless steel so dishwasher fine too. Also works with stainless screen, laser drilled or fabric reusable filters. Fits even larger mugs or former French Press containers whose fiddly bits have gone wonky. Everywhere I take this, people end up loving it. Make coffee as mild, strong, fast or slow as you want. Ideal for tiny, sustainable living.

Practical solution
Pour-over, drip method is the most practical when camping. Discard grounds with filter, no fuss. Doubles as sediment filter. I have the larger snow peak titanium pot that I also use as mug (careful not to burn yourself, wait a minute, try a sip first). The drip is very stable on that pot, just remember it folds flat and has no stop in either direction. A bit pricey but it has heft (rationalizing the spend...)

Who says you can't have great coffee while camping?
I have tried several different methods of making coffee while camping. Percolators, Presses, Pulls, Powders, plenty of others. The simple pour-over has worked out the best every time. The Snow Peak is light-weight and it folds flat for easy transport. Works with standard filters. And I can make one cup or ten cups, each one hot and fresh when made.

Nice and very portable coffee maker but
I ordered this because of a review I came across in the mag Bon Appetit. I thought this would be a significant addition to my traveling accessories wherever the journey leads. It is light, foldable and still stable. Overall it is a very nice addition However, the instructions are written in an Asian language. Therefore I'm not sure if I use a number 2 or 4 cone filter, basket filter, all the above. After pondering the foreign diagram there seems to be a manufacturer recommendation regarding the filter. The other pause for consternation was my premise, purchasing this "American" offering vs the Chinese models at 1/2 the price. I've been to Snow Peak website and they are rather elitist so this non-English instruction card came as a surprise revelation. At this price point I was expecting English instructions Anyway. It is what it is. Did brew a cup of coffee and folded it away after cleaning. Mission accomplished but I felt the product did fail to meet my 5 star criteria

Very nice
Purchased for backpacking but using it at home for now. Folds up flat and stows nicely. A little bit heavy for back packing actually but seems very robust.

Works fine - but I wish the directions weren't in Japanese
The instructions are completely in Japanese with this writing taking up the whole back of the large cardboard the plastic bag containing this item is stapled to. There are also 5 pictures demonstrating it but the instructions under each photo is also in Japanese. I am sure there are tips and such on how to use this but since those who cannot read Japanese will never know. I use this every day several times a day. I use hemp CUSP Natural Product #6 cone coffee filter. They can be reused indefinitely. Very easy to clean and boiling water goes right through it very easily. CUSP hemp filters have sewn borders - something the other brands do not have. cuspnaturalproducts dot come This filter fits over almost any cup. I use in on Snow Peak titanium coffee cups of different sizes. People shouldn't complain about it being "large". This allows it to fit over larger coffee cups. Also, having a larger opening makes pouring water into it easier.

The opening is too wide for easy use.
Filter is durable and easy to pack, but hard to use. It requires finesse to make a cup of coffee without breaking the filter, as the hole at the bottom is too wide, the coffee plus hot water creates pressure and readily breaks through. Might work with a mesh metal filter, but that is hard to pack...

Great for camping
I used to bring a big perculator camping, but for just two people this works way better. Packs down easily for backpacking and pretty durable. Slightly more money for Snow Peak name, but considering how obserdly priced most of this stuff is, this is a decent value.

If you are a coffee lover and find that the coffee you get when you stay away from home isn't as good as you would really want, then this could be the answer. Often when we travel we end up somewhere that can have poor or even no coffee making equipment available. This coffee dripper folds flat and with some filter papers really takes up very little space in your luggage and provides a working answer to that problem. It doesn't quite open up wide enough to go over a cafe au lait bowl, but will certainly go across any mug or jug. So; self catering, hotel or camping, you can have the coffee you want. The only cons to go with those pros are the price, it's expensive, the time it takes to get from Japan and the idea that it ought to have been built to click open but wasn't.
