Dual-Band BE3600 Wi-Fi 7 Router, Archer BE230

I bought this router because I'm studying and wanted to set up my own private network at home to practice. I was researching options and AI specifically recommended this one, so I decided to give it a shot, and honestly I don't regret it. What I liked the most is the interface, it's really user-friendly and easy to configure, you don't need to be an expert to understand it. It has 2.5G and 1G ports which help a lot if you have equipment that can take advantage of those speeds, and being Wi-Fi 7, the connection speed and stability feel way superior compared to previous routers I've had. Right now I have practically everything in my house connected to it: laptops, TV, consoles, cameras, and you can't even tell there are that many devices, the connection stays stable with no lag or drops. It's also helped me separate my network into different segments, which I really value given what I'm currently studying. Initial setup was quick through the app, and everything has worked smoothly ever since. For the price, it's a great option if you're looking for something modern, fast, and reliable for your home. Highly recommend it.

TLDR: I think Tom's Hardware Guide said it best "Bringing Wi-Fi 7 to the masses... The TP-Link Archer BE3600 is cheap, but you also don’t get the full spec of features or performance of “true” Wi-Fi 7 routers". If you’re not big into gaming and just want a no-frills router to support your 1 Gbps or lower internet connection, there’s nothing wrong with the Archer BE3600. I personally, am very happy with my purchase and it's probably the best solution for 85% of people out there/ non-enthusiasts. NOTE: I paid $83 for this Wifi router using an Amazon coupon. Which I think is a very fair price for something I only plan to upgrade every 5-7 years, and only if I have to. I also live in a townhouse, so it's not like the signal has to go 60+ft. Details: Upgrading from a TPLINK AC1750 (Archer A7) [release ~2018], using Comcast internet (Fast plan; up to 600 mbps down) and a Netgear AC1200 WiFi USB Adapter 802.11ac Dual Band, USB 3.0 (on my computer but in a USB 2.0 port) which was about 7 feet away from the wireless router and I saw a measurable increase in my download speeds (~45% from ~260mbps to ~380 mbps using Ookla speed test). Purportedly the TP-Link BE3600 which was released in the 2024/2025 timeframe uses the same frequency bands (5 GHz and 2.4 GHz bands) as the older TPLINK AC1750 (Archer A7), but uses the newer and faster WIFI 7 (802.11be) vs the older WIFI 5 (802.11ac) protocols. The TP-Link BE3600 advertises up to 3.57 Gbps (aka 3570 Mbps; 2882 Mbps in 5 GHz band + 688 Mbps in 2.4 GHz band) whereas the Archer A7 only 1.75 Gbps (1300 Mbps in 5GHz + 450 Mbps in 2.4 GHz bands). Practically speaking the internet says anything above 100 Mbps should be able to run multiple devices pretty well streaming. But I'm upgrading anyway, because my mother needs a new router so she doesn't have to pay $10/mo for one from the cable company. I have no complaints. Easy to setup and connect to. I realize I'm now probably being gated by my older Netgear AC1200 WiFi USB Adapter which is using a USB 2.0 port (max speed 480 mbps) but my speeds are enough for me; my newer gaming PC which sits about 10 ft away from the router and uses a built-in WIFI card (Wi-Fi 6E 802.11ax) manages ~500 mbps down. CAVEAT: I do want to note my older Netis WF2120 Wireless N150 Nano USB Dongle 802.11 b/g/n (aka WIFI 1/3/4) on an older computer was not able to see the 2.4 GHz signal from the BE3600 whereas it could from the AC1750; so I replaced it. I ended up using a spare Wavlink 600M dual-band connectivity (2.4GHz and 5GHz) USB WiFi adapter which uses 802.11ac WIFI 5; and had to update the drivers on my older windows PC in the process (to recognize the Wavlink adapter).

An absolutely excellent router at a ridiculously good price on Amazon resale. I'm forever updating and expanding my TP-LINK network all over the house and out to the garage and yard. This is configured as an EXTENDER although you can also use it as a MESH, however the MESH multiple device limitations in a multi-router configuration is absolute garbage no matter which brand you use. Theoretically you should be able to use many devices but realistically more than 3 MESHED devices cause constant connectivity problems and dropped devices. TP-LINK consistently has good options in its configurations for these routers to serve your needs however you want to configure them and the speed is outstanding. This router retired 4 TP-LINK A7s since it has long range and very high device capabilities.

If you want a basic router and do not care about advanced features, especially things that should be standard like DDOS attack protection and parental controls and many other features then the router is fine. If you expect to buy a router and have access to what the router can actually do... then this is not the router for you. And I suspect most people will want access to all features whether they use them or not. Many, and I mean a lot, of features and locked behind a paywall requiring a subscription, which also means you need a TPLink account and a phone app and so forth. I personally do not find this acceptable, this will be my last TPLink product I purchase. Coming from a Synology router that finally gave in after 10 years of continuous service I needed a replacement and this was my choice, which I now regret. I regret my choice enough that I will now spend a weekend disassembling the Synology 2600AC router to remove the heatsink and reapply new thermal paste to eliminate the thermal throttling problem that was causing it to lag. So, this TPLine router could have been a good product. It is not because of a paywall. 1 Star because I am not able to award 0 stars. A paywall to features destroys a product completely. It is a nuclear bomb to useability. I won't even do the 30 day trial, because I do not want to give TPLine my info, I do not want to have to cancel once I do start a trial, and I do not think I should pay for features on my router. But hey, if you are into subscriptionware go for it.

The TP-Link BE3600 (Archer BE230) is one of the best budget WiFi 7 routers available, offering Multi-Link Operation and strong throughput at a price far below competitors. Close-range performance is excellent, hitting around 993 Mbps on the 5 GHz band within 10 feet — enough to fully utilize a gigabit internet plan. The main weakness is range: signal noticeably weakens through walls and obstacles, making it better suited for small to medium spaces rather than large homes.Overall, it's an extremely affordable entry into WiFi 7 that delivers surprisingly well for the price hard to beat if you're on a budget.It's a dual-band router without 6 GHz support, which is worth noting for those wanting the full WiFi 7 tri-band experience. Esthetics and appearance are clean and high quality

Easy setup and options to configure local or via TPlink webportal. Internal web pages define what a configuration change will do. Novice or experienced will like the TPLink App Tether! Just do due diligence and ask online Support a question usually in FQA. Awesome product and online community. Lets go!

My previous router from this company finally died and I needed a replacement. It took me longer to mount this to the wall than it took to set it up. Speeds and coverage are as advertised and it immediately meshed with my existing range extender which is of a different manufacturer. The default settings are minimal and perfect for most users, but if you want to mess around with more advanced features, they're easy to set up if you want to use them. I always put my own router/wifi access point between my ISP modem and my home network so that I can turn off firewalls, wifi, sharing, etc on the modem and let the router that I own take care of that. ISP providers hate it when they can't use your modem as a location node, share your wifi with strangers, block torrent networks, or collect telemetry data. Data providers/collectors shouldn't get anything from you other than the monthly bill and this router brand is very good about that.

Holy moly! I could not be happier! I studied network administration in college and have always been a power user for networking and network devices. I've had a bad impression of tplink for almost 2 decades, avoiding them like the plague. I researched and decided to give this router a try. It has surpassed my expectations for a router upgrade by miles. I don't have any wifi6e capable devices aside from one desktop which will be wired once everything is done with. So I have no use for the 6Ghz ity bity range band and I'm happy to have the option to save money to ditch a band that's useless to me and get all the perks of wifi7 at such a low price! I knew now is the time to upgrade because this router will be illegal soon in the US due to the foreign made router ban coming soon. I'm shocked prices haven't shot up around the $600-$1k price yet, but it's coming. My favorite part about this upgrade is finding out I actually have had Gigabit internet all this time without knowing. My last router never saw 500Mb and I have cable Internet, so I thought 400Mb was my top speed. My concern now is that my ISP will see my speed and slow me down. I love this router and for this price you will too. Oh and signal range blew me away and 3x or 4x my expectations.

Excelente router , con el pareamiento con mi extensor tplin Rx705 , hacen un trabajo perfecto con el On MESH , y una comodidad en no tener que cambiar la conexión como antes tenía que hacer , la potencia y alcance aumentó notablemente en el extensor y ahora el cono de wifi se muestra completa., y el streaming corre perfectamente sin titubeos de ninguna especie. La capacidad de tener un usb o disco en el puerto usb3.0 es algo que quería conservar de mi netgear anterior , pero si me costo entenderlo como cambió del Ready share a como lo maneja aunque el asignar solo al windows media player en lugar de otro player como el VLC , eso no me gusto pero funciona. Ahora no hay info como acceder al usb de manera remota. Otra cosa que no mencionan es que tiene sus perforaciones en la base para poder montarlo en la pared que es muy util.

I switched over to a new router as my old one was overheating and not reaching my full speed through the ISP. this router allows everyone in the house to connect their devices and it doesn't slow down at all. A good buy.
