Very Nice Versatile Boots
I was searching for an understated hiking boot and was delighted to find these Newtons in Dark Grey/Gold Amber. They look exactly like the photos show. Although in sunlight, the grey suede reads a bit lighter. These look great and work well for both winter and summer wear. The suede is soft and compfy looking, but dark enough to hide dirt. The built quality seems to be very good. Time will tell. I love that they are lightweight, waterproof, slightly insulating, but also breathable. The soles are rugged so traction seems to be adequate for most trails. Comfort is surprisingly good. I ordered a 14W which is cut slightly large. It could even be more like a 14.5 EEE. But they don't look monsterous because the leather tops have a nice tapered shaped. The toe box is high enough to use with an aftermarket insert and thicker socks. Overall, I love these. Columbia really has a winner here.

Very good boot
I really like these boots. The traction is fantastic for wet and dirty hikes. I walked through streams and my feet stayed dry the whole time. Plenty of ankle support. True to size.

THESE ARE MY SECOND PAIR! LOVE EM!
I honestly can't recommend these boots enough—they’ve quickly become my absolute favorites. You know how some hiking boots feel like you're walking in stiff wooden boxes for the first month? These were the total opposite. Right out of the box, they felt soft, flexible, and ready for a long walk, which was such a relief. I’ve taken them through some pretty messy spots, and they’ve handled everything like a champ. There’s a certain peace of mind that comes with stepping into a deep puddle or trekking through mud and knowing your socks are going to stay perfectly dry. Why I'm obsessed with them: Zero Break-In Time: I was shocked at how comfortable they were on day one. No blisters, no stiff ankles—just pure comfort. Surprisingly Light: They give you all that rugged protection you want in a boot, but they don't feel heavy or clunky. I can wear them all day and my legs don't feel tired at all. That Classic Look: The suede is really sharp. They look just as good with a pair of jeans at a coffee shop as they do covered in dirt on a trail. A little tip from my experience: If you’re a fan of those super thick, chunky wool socks, you might want to go up half a size just to give your toes some breathing room, as the fit is nice and snug. Seriously, if you’re looking for a reliable, "do-it-all" boot that actually keeps its promises, these are a total win. They’ve made my outdoor time so much more enjoyable.

A Fairly Affordable Well Made Boot
Below 20°F you probably need a boot with more insulation. They are not water proof but seem to resist moisture to a certain degree. I believe boot wax would be helpful on these and I plan to get some. Mine require foam foot pads for more comfort. They are light and affordable. I like the traction on the sole and the ankle support. I've used these boots for every season. I like the fit. The soles aren't overly stiff. There are more comfortable boots but at a higher price. If you can afford a more comfortable boot get those. 😎 If not you may like these. 😉

Excellent Boots for The Right Application
Reviews here are due some perspective: I am a long-time and die-hard revolving customer to the Columbia brand. I am because I have been thoroughly satisfied by their product line. There are many brands I don't return to, so if I'm continuing to purchase from the same brand, the company has won my loyalty through quality products. Having said that, I started buying Columbia hiking boots, give or take 15 years ago, despite never being a hiker. I bought them because they went well with shorts for the summer. I got used to them, and since they were lightweight and versatile, I started bringing them with me for travel. When traveling, I do a lot of urban walking. While in England, I made the mistake of wearing my Timberland Pros, walking on them over 8 miles in a day. The next day I switched to my Columbias, and it was night and day. Used them for Italy as well. I power walked on them like I had sneakers on. The major difference between these and sneakers is the ankle support. They provide significant support for ankles ( and as a tall guy with a quick gate I have rolled mine a number of times ). So you want work boots, Timberland Pros all day long, hands down. These are not work boots, nor are they serious trail hiking boots where you are going to traverse forest/jungle canopy terrain. ASOLO gets $260 for their hiking boots for a reason ( I own those too ). They feel like they are made of Kevlar. Would I wear the ASOLOs to traverse across Florence Italy? Hell no. Just like my experience in the Timberland Pro's you will come back to your hotel half broken from walking in boots not meant for the application. You have to look at the price point and application. These are excellent for daily casual use and highly recommended for urban city walking and throw in some light trails all day long. You can't beat them. Great arch support. Very comfortable and they look great. They really stand out. I bought two pairs and I'm exceedingly satisfied. For hiking I'll use my Asolo's. For work boots ( and I get knee deep in heavy construction projects) I'll use my Timberland Pro's. For everyday use with ankle support Im going with these all day. If you try to use them for what they are not designed for, you will be disappointed. Yes, they say hiking - but I'm not gonna put a $250 expectation on a $75 boot.

Great comfortable and durable soft boot for the price
These are an excellent choice. Ive had them a year now and work in them doing very demanding outdoor work and they have held up. I wear them hiking and to events as well. They are not fully waterproof but are water resistant for sure. They do not smell. Comfortable, easy to get on and off and all around good hiking boot for whatever you got going on outside

True to size
True to size, this was my biggest concern ordering shoes without trying them on. With the help of Chat GPT, the size correlated perfectly with my Nike running shoes and not so much with Converse Chuck Taylor’s (as predicted by Chat GPT). They fit perfectly and are super comfortable right out of the box. Can’t wait to wear them out in the yard. Day 1, very happy with product.

Easily my favorite boots -- comfy, warm, good traction, and they last!
This is my second pair of these for myself, and the third pair I've bought (one pair was for my son). They're fantastic boots. My first pair is about 5 years old and are still suitable for banging around the yard or working in my workshop in, but they look a bit ragged ... so I ordered a new pair and they're every bit as awesome as the first pair. I wear them to work every day and I have them on now, as I write this. They have pretty good traction in snow and mud and even do ok on icy surfaces. They're super warm. I wear regular (Gold Toe) socks and my feet are toasty in these even on a day like today, where it started out at 2 degrees Fahrenheit (it has warmed up all the way to 14 degrees now ... and I just spent a bunch of time outside at work clomping around in snow and slush). They're great! Definitely get a pair if you need good, super-comfortable, water-proof fall/winter boots. They're too warm for summer, but they're excellent boots. My only "gripe" is that they've gotten more expensive over time ... but I guess everything has. And given how my first pair lasted 5 years, I can hardly complain about the price.

Good quality at a price that can't be beat.
Very comfortable boot. I purchased the size 16 and they fit perfectly. My feet stay warm and dry, even in the coldest nights and walking thru deep snow. The soles grip the icy walks very well. Highly recommend these boots.
