The book contains good fotos, but since the book is a tiny book and not large as a coffeetable book the pictures loses its magic and reading experience not that optimal sincte the text is tiny

This is a fantastic book with startling images of Soviet era architecture. The buildings are impressive and oppressive in equal measure and the scale of the designs oozes confidence from a Stalinist age when Russia and its satellite states were an all conquering and mighty world power. The magnitude of some of the structures is truly breath-taking and it is incredible that so much concrete could have been poured into one single monolithic slab of grey dominance.My only quibble is that I had originally seen this book in an art shop as a large coffee table edition which was expensivce so, being the cheapskate that I am, I looked on line and found it for less than half the price. This edition is., of course, only half the size of a coffee table edition. The impages are, of course, more spectacular in the large scale form but this handy pocket sized edition captures the structures just as well and is easier on the pocket.

It is very visually pleasing, I like neo brutalist buildings and have always been fascinated about the history that goes along with the buildings themselves

Hatte das Buch mal in einem Hotel gesehen, was nur Bücher vom TASCHEN-Verlag ausgestellt hatte. Muss wohl eine Verbindung existieren.Mir gefiel es sofort und ich musste sofort daran denken, dass es das ideale Geschenk für meinen Vater ist.Preislich super, nur leider einen Fehler gemacht: ich hab die kleine Version bestellt. Eigentlich wollte ich die große Version des Buchs, die ich schon vorher angeschaut hatte. Leider der Unterschied zwischen den Büchern nicht so offensichtlich.Macht nichts, Vater hat sich trotzdem gefreut. Und beim nächsten Mal wird zwei mal hingeschaut.
