Seems to work great
Works as advertised with my old SSD. I didn't know if it would pass SMART commands, but I can run a SMART report on the drive. I plugged in my old SSD and (through some magic) the /home directory was mounted and I could access all my old files. Transfers also seemed lightening fast, even though I only had a USB 2.0 port for this. NOTE: This adapter will not work with 3.5" sata hard drives (I think because they cannot be powered through the USB port; they have another adapter with an independent AC brick/cable to supply more power). Note that the cable is short (<11 in.), so my SSD hangs unsupported. The connection was firm enough (and the ssd light enough) that it's not an issue. If your 2.5" hdd is heavy, that might be an issue.

its ok could be better
have to keep unplugging the usb cable for the drive to detect.. yes tried with 3 other drive same thing and port..once i set it a special angle it will load the drive.. the free type convertor/adaptor is no more after less than 2 months of using which is fine but having to angle the usb cable so it reads is very annoying but once it read the drive works like a charm its a 7.5/10 for me.

works really good, using it as an additional internal sata cord, since im out of actual ports, but have a free usb-a internally due to using a usb-a expansion card. only annoying part about using this cord interally is that fi you are encrypting your drives you will always get a notification on boot that the access was denied, and its most likely how usb-a handles things on boot, as my other encrypted drives that are connected through true sata ports never have this issue. the answer is simply swapping the cord to a drive that isnt encrypted, im just super lazy and dont feel like changing it, maybe one day though.
