Will this fit a pixel slate?

Yes, but it's not as snug as I'd like. The real problem with the Pixel Slate is while the Brydge keyboard works, the trackpad does not.

Can i use this keyboard while not attached to the surface pro? (Like a true wireless keyboard not attached to it?)

Yes! I use my pen to write notes on my surface and I keep the keyboard next to for when I need to type. I believe you just have to keep it within like approximately 5 feet of the surface at it still works! It’s an amazing product, would definitely recommend trying it!
