Clear sound with a good range
The range is very good and didn't drop connection when we were out of line of sight, the sound is loud and clear with no crackling. The crank takes some effort to use and works but the solar charging isn't much use unless its a hot sunny day and even then its only a minor charge. The USB charging is fast, taking a couple of hours and holds for a long time when not in use or intermittent use. The build quality is sturdy, can handle knocks and scrapes, the addition of the bright flash light has proven to be useful when we had a few blackouts.

There are two radios per pack
There are two walkie talkies in the box, not just one. These seem pretty good, range is a bit shorter than claimed, but thats to be expected in built up areas, the torch is handy and the various charging methods, hand crank and usb seem to work well, power is lasting pretty good, will have to wait and see how the solar helps to keep it topped up

Great way to communicate for at least half a mile
These walkie-talkies arrived just in time for us to take them with us on holiday. Despite me not reading the instructions, and not being familiar with using a walkie-talkie, I found them very easy and intuitive to use, although I left the more radio-savvy member of the family to set up the channed to make sure we could actually talk to each other! I love the fact that these can be charged by both solar power and by a hand-crank as well as plugging into a USB socket — it gives reassurance that I would be able to rely on them in an emergency situation. I found the emergency "wailing siren" by accident when I held the call button down rather than just giving it a short press and it's pretty loud so if you're lost on a hillside somewhere, it would definitely help others to locate you! The light is adequate as a torch, but would be great in an emergency, with the strobe setting being of great help in the lost-on-a-hillside situation to attract rescuers. On one walk, in a wooded, hilly, region with no phone signal, we were still able to clearly talk to each other even when separated by over half a mile distance with a woodland between us. I suspect the distance could have been further, but a later test by one of us driving to a shop on the other side of the hill to our holiday stay - about 3 miles away - unsurprisingly failed miserably! There is no information as to the output of these, so it is difficult to compare them to others. They also receive FM radio programmes (not of immediate interest to me so I've not investigated things such as frequencies). They clipped easily to my binocular strap whilst walking, and are a good fit in the hand. They look plasticy, but feel quite robust, however, I've no intention of deliberately dropping them to test whether they truly are or not! I'm very happy with these as my first pair of walkie-talkies, and even though I need to delve into the intricacies of how the different channels function (it's very easy to change channel and sub-channel, but I have no idea of why I'd need to . . . yet!), I'm so pleased to be able to keep in touch with somebody else when out in the depths of the country with no phone signal, and to have those emergency functions that I hope will never be needed. Full marks from me

Great build, does it all!
Firstly, the walkie-talkie feature is fantastic. I bought it for a camping trip with friends, and it made communication across the campsite effortless. The range is impressive, and the sound quality is crystal clear. Even in areas with lots of trees and uneven terrain, we had no issues staying in touch. The built-in FM radio is a great addition. We used it to catch up on weather reports and local news while we were out in nature. The reception was surprisingly good, and it was nice to have some music playing in the background. The light is another feature I’ve come to appreciate. It’s incredibly bright and was a lifesaver during our nighttime hikes and when setting up camp after dark. It’s just the right size to handle various tasks without being cumbersome. One of the standout features of this device is the power bank with solar and hand crank charging options. The solar panel is efficient and managed to keep the device charged throughout our sunny days in the wilderness. On overcast days, the hand crank came in handy, ensuring we never ran out of power. It’s a relief to know that we have a reliable power source for our phones and other gadgets in emergencies. What really impressed me was the overall build quality. It feels sturdy and well-made, definitely designed to withstand outdoor conditions. Despite its rugged build, it’s still lightweight and easy to carry around. Overall, this walkie-talkie system has been an excellent addition to my outdoor gear. It’s versatile, reliable, and packed with useful features. Whether you’re camping, hiking, or just need a reliable communication device for emergencies, I highly recommend giving this one a try. Excellent value for money!

Loud and clear audio
These have been very useful for my job. I’m a building manager and always required to service and repair various things relating to the building. Such as repair and servicing the lift, cleaning of ducting, clearing and locating stack pipes. The range is very good and certainly sufficient enough for our use. The audio is clear and has volume control, which can be very loud. Hardly any static sounds when used. The walkie has 9 channels to choose from. Useful if you have to deal with several teams separately. It has a call button to call all users on the same channel. This is loud when used. It also has a torch which has 3 light levels. Also a flashing mode. This can be charged in three ways. With a usb c, hand crank and solar. Now I can only confirm that usb c charging works. Neither the solar or the hand crank indicates it is charging. No maker how long or how fast I turn it. Nothing shows on the display to say it is charging.

Unusual concept, but functional
This pair of walkie talkies is a bit of a mixed bag. The styling is a little military, and I personally found the large solid belt clip a bit too cumbersome. The walkie talkies do a decent job of their main function, communications. Their range is pretty decent but you have to remember that these don't use masts, it's direct comms so anything in the way will degrade the sound, a substantial hill or raised landmass will stop all signal. I went to the local shop taking one with me and leaving the other with my wife. We lost connection less than a few hundred meters away, due to houses and going over a brow of a hill. Similarly, when I got to the shop, I would be pretty much direct line but there are too many houses so although we had connection, it was weak and garbled. In an uninterrupted situation, it's a completely different story and they did perform well, not outstanding, but reasonable. The main difference these offer over standard sets, is the "survival" aspects. The solar panel and the wind up power backups could he a real life saver, although the batteries do seem to last a while on one charge. The devices are relatively easy to use, although it took me a while to find the on button (it's on the top and same colour as the body!). I also found the talk button a little awkward as its a big rubber button but only the centre is responsive! I do have concerns over the robustness. They're quite light, and all plastic, but it doesn't feel weak. The main thing for me is the waterproofing. Everything seems tightly screwed together, but the rubber seal over the connections isn't tight, mine came away a few times in use, had it been raining, it would have suffered water ingress likely destroying the unit. Priced at £89.99, these are undoubtedly overpriced. However, with the 50% voucher at the time of ordering, I'd say that these are reasonable, the extras (inc torch and powerbank functions), may help and do give them a bit of a unique selling point, but of these aren't required, a standard set at comparable cost may suffice?

The swiss army knife of walkie talkies!
Wow, where do I start with these things. The technology of walkie talkies really has moved on! There isn't much these babies can't do! I'll start with basic functionality. They have an auto channel scanning function which puts both on the same channel. We found that channel 8 worked better for longer distances with obstacles etc. the voice comes through loud and clear, however there is quite a loud bleeping type noise whenever a communication is started / ended and there doesn't seem to be a way of changing the volume of this. We've had them powered on for a few days now and they've kept their battery incredibly well, not that that's ever an issue as with a few winds of the handle, you can add a surprising amount of juice to them! You can even charge your phone off one! That's mad! The inbuilt torch is super handy and very bright (brightness adjustable). I love the fact that there's a built in belt clip too, which is especially handy when combined with the torch function for finding your way about in the dark. There's a headphone / headset port which is handy, although there's no headset included in the package so wasn't able to test this. The solar panel is very small, so I'm not sure if it will actually add any juice to the walkie, but probably helps to eak out battery life, although this is hard to test. I love that there's a feature to encrypt the channel you're on, so nobody can hijack your conversation or eavesdrop which is handy. All in all, well worth the money asked, for some incredibly high tech walkies and I'd hands down recommend them!

More of a Novelty Than Serious Emergency Kit
These radios have quite a lot of tricks up their sleeve, but I think it's a case of jack of all trades, master of none. 1. Power bank which can be charged by solar, or a hand crank - though the solar & hand crank are only enough to (hopefully) keep the radio, light & alarm going, and the 2,000mAh capacity will top up a modern smartphone up to around 50% 2. Torch - it would help someone find you in the dark, and lights a small area immediately in front of you - so better than nothing in an emergency, but you'll still need a proper light if you're in the country with no light 3. Walkie Talkie a) It's awkward to change channel - as there's no dedicated control, so you need to press the menu then use the volume buttons to go up and down channels. b) Impressively it does include DCS & CTCSS so you can talk on a busy channel and not get interrupted (though that also means you need to turn it off, if you're trying to find other people and ask for help) c) The range isn't great - starting to break up with one person in the loft, and someone else on the ground floor. d) It has minimal weather proofing, so you need to be careful not to get them too wet, or they'll stop working 4) Build quality is generally just quite plasticky - the carabiner is useful if it's dry, but due to the lack of weather proofing of the radio, it will get damaged easily in the mist or rain 5) The radio has really poor reception - presumably due to the small size (and difficulty orienting) the antenna.
