I bought this matcha whisk as a replacement of my very old one. With very good care this will last for a long time. I have a matcha whisk holder which is very useful after washing and to air dry facing down and hold it's shape. I only use hot water to clean the whisk. I find that washing with dish liquid soap ruined my previous matcha whisk over time. Soaking the bristles in hot water, prior to whisking matcha powder has also made a difference in making matcha lattes at home. So far I am pleased with this and it does a great job of leaving a nice natural foam on top after whisking.

I have quite recently discovered Matcha and have been enjoying some different flavours, so when I came across this little Bamboo Whisk, especially for Matcha, I decided to give it a go. Often I have found that the Matcha doesn't always mix together as smoothly as I would like, no matter how much I stir it with the spoon and it is even worse when made with cold milk. I saw this Bamboo Whisk and although not a necessity, I thought it might make the drink smoother overall. It does seem to work quite well as you can see in above pics the Matcha only starts to look smooth and even more green after using this whisk repeatedly for a short time. I probably mixed it for less than a minute and it was definitely much smoother and more appealing than how it looked to begin with. Before I used the whisk, the central nobble of the bamboo was nicely shaped into a neat knot but after the first use it became all tufty, which I guess is what's supposed to happen, unless I was too rigorous with my stirring? When reading the product details about this Matcha Bamboo Whisk I noticed that it was listed as a 'Japanese Matcha Starter Set' so I was a little confused as to what I would be receiving, as I only saw one product item in the picture. I had imagined a set would offer a few other pieces, so I thought it was a bit misleading with the product information. I do think this is a nice quality item and it has a nice feel to it and is easy to hold and use, but I did expect to receive a set of some sort, since it was listed as nearly £9.00. I am however happy with this handy little whisk and it has definitely improved my morning Matcha.

This review is for the “ Bamboo Whisk Matcha, Japanese Matcha Starter Set with Handcrafted Bamboo Whisk | Traditional Tea Ceremony Tools for Perfect Matcha Lattes, Hot Chocolate, and More - 100 Forks” As a relative newbie to matcha I found that this whisk (chasen) helped to combine the powder with the water better to reduce lumps. However, after only a few uses the middle has splayed open so I don’t expect this to last very long. Given the lack of longevity I think this is not worth investing in unless you have a lot of disposable income and do not mind having to renew it after every 10-20 uses.

Blends macha easily, rinses off clean after. Nice to use.
