The language might be a little too heavy if you aren't used to reading books, especially english classics, though once you get the hang of it, it will be easy. The story itself is memorable. The old novels shows the side of love which is scarcely present nowadays. They are more passionate, more expressive, full of love, hate, anger and more love. Emily's prose is a masterpiece. She could have written trash and i still would have read her. She just captures you and keeps you in her words. You will be asking for more. I have heard that her sisters works are very similar, so if you like this one, definitely go for others. Brontë family has blue blood in writing. Regarding the book's delivery, it arrived in perfect condition. Fingerprint publications uses translations available in public domains, the reason why they are much cheaper than, say, penguin. Still, if you are buying English literature, go for fingerprint if you don't want to splurge a fortune.

The 19th century author Emily Bronte, is wildly known for her only novel Wuthering Heights, now labeled as a classic of English literature. Emily died at the age of 30, in the year 1848 due to tuberculosis after a few days of publication of her novel. Mr. Earnshaw, owner of the Wuthering Heights gives shelter to an orphan named Heathcliff who plays roles of both protagonist and antagonist in the novel. He grows up with Earnshaw's children; Hindley and Catherine. After Earnshaw's demise Hindley becomes extremely harsh and aims to destroy Heathcliff but Catherine shares a very strong bond with Heathcliff and provides him moral strength to stay strong against all the abuses of Hindley. Nelly is a caretaker of the Earnshaw's. Another prime family of the novel is Lintons. Edgar and Isabella are disciplined kids of Lintons, living at Thrushcross Grange and are totally opposite of Heathcliff and Catherine. They welcome and accept Catherine into their house but not Heathcliff. Although having deep affection for Heathcliff, Catherine marries with Edgar Linton. Heathcliff vows revenge and marries Isabella Linton. He doesn't even care who he hurts while expressing or executing his anger and hatred. He is desperate to destroy all dear belongings of Edgar Linton. And story moves on further with the second generation of both the families and ends with an unexpected climax. Heathcliff is the rarest of the characters that one can ever imagine. The sentimental core of the plot is Heathcliff and Catherine's semi incestuous bond. It's a deep, soulful yet quite disturbing love story of revenge and intergenerational abuse. It is Hindley's abuse that makes Heathcliff a monster. Wuthering Heights resembles heady stuff of the abusive cycles and interfamily violence. Wuthering Heights is contemporary classic novel that accurately portrays life during the early era. The way it is crafted and the literary merit it possess, gives the feeling of being trapped in moors and experiencing the liveliness of character around. It is an awesome piece of quality literature that perhaps only a genius can make happen.

This is my first read in the Gothic fiction genre and though I detested it at the beginning, I loved it by the time I finished the book. It is a classic tale of thwarted passion, love, envy, betrayal, and revenge, and yes you'll be shocked by the magnanimity of the revenge though. That's how powerful her writing is. But sadly, the author Emily died without knowing the magnanimous success of her only novel!

I have read this classic in hardback & paperback & decided to get it in Kindle. I am glad I did - it is one of the greatest novels in world literature. I have only given it 4 stars as a note of caution : the few illustrations are not at all clear & all except one were of red indians hunting buffalo - unless my eyes are playing up!

Classic classic....

Love the book but this version is a travesty of translation. Seems to have ben translated from another language d back to English. Avoid.

was hooked from the first page i have always wanted to read this and at last found the time and i wasnt disappointed no wonder its a classic it realy gives you how it was and some of hardship and in some parts you hart was in your mouth very good read glad i made the time to read it
