Spend just a little more for higher quality. - Arrived with box in poor condition and styrofoam packaging inside disintegrating completely, making pretty huge mess just to get the parts out of the box. Foam bits were also stuck to the parts themselves by what seemed like static, which meant each individual part had to be cleaned before it could be used. Assembly was straightforward but annoying. One drawer roller was bent, causing the drawer to get stuck when trying to push it back in. Requires some wiggling to get it to close. The rods on the towel and spice racks fit very, very loosely and will fall out if you don’t overtighten the side panels that hold them in. Some parts requiring screws did not have pilot holes drilled, meaning screwing in hardware caused particle board to split. There were also randomly a few joins that use hex-head screws rather than Phillips head like the rest. This was annoying because you can’t exert the same downward force on a hex head due to the nature of how one must hold and turn an Allen key. As a result, the screw stops biting before pieces are completely joined, leaving some degree of freedom (loose fit). Also, the instructions for nailing in the back panel suggested 9cm between nails to ensure coverage across all four edges, but there are not nearly enough screws to make that work. Spacing is more like 15cm between nails. Finish is fine, but manufacturing tolerances are poor. The gap between the two front doors is considerable (~1.5cm) and allows a view right into the cabinets rather than being blocked by a support piece. Finally, this thing smells horrible. Adhesives that hold particle board together frequently include formaldehyde, which can off-gas a bit. But this is different, and has gone on far longer than any other quick and cheap furniture I’ve ever built. It honestly smells like tuna-fish and is still strongly noticeable even two weeks after assembly. No reason it should smell like that. Finally finally, we ordered two of these in different colors at the exact same time. One, coming via USPS, said it was scheduled for delivery, but never showed up. The other one, coming via UPS and which said it was still in transit, arrived without any indication. The first one was apparently lost(?) as neither desertcart nor USPS could tell us where it was after two weeks. desertcart processed a replacement order, but tracking is once again unavailable from desertcart and no details found from USPS, so I suspect the same thing will happen again. Also, we live in New York and the product is shipped from New Jersey. Shipping label shows the product went from NJ all the way to Indiana before being turned around to NY. desertcart is basically a logistics company, and that doesn’t seem very logical. Review: Very nice - I love this kitchen island very nice piece of furniture I get a lot of compliments on this extra storage is a bonus only issue is that there is a spot on the top where the finish has come off already only 6 months old and fir the price it should not be doing this other than that flaw it’s worth the buy

You get what you pay for, I guess.
Well, firstly, it arrived damaged the first time; the box had been so loosely taped closed that it had broken open and the parts within were dented and scratched. Whether this is the fault of the Amazon delivery driver or the factory where it was boxed, I don't know. Asked to return it and get another, and that process went by easily enough, though taking the 70 lb box to the UPS Store by myself was not exactly a TON of fun, (no pun intended). The second one arrived seemingly undamaged, but upon opening the box, I discovered a large strip of one of the smaller pieces of particle board had broken off. Turns out, it was the strip that goes underneath where the drawer bottom slides in, thus holding that side in place. Since I'd already opened it, I didn't want to do the return/replace process again, so I just broke out the Gorilla Glue and hoped for the best, gluing the broken strip back onto its parent piece. So far it's holding okay, I've just decided not to ever put anything particularly heavy in that drawer to be sure it stays that way. When I went to attach the wheels, I noticed one of them was also broken; the plastic was cracked. I tried to still attach it, hoping it would at least stay like that and not get worse with the extra support provided by the other three casters, but no...The plastic wheel snapped completely off of the metal stud that gets screwed into the bottom of the cabinet. So no wheels for me, which makes the counter slightly shorter than I wanted and a little bit wobbly, though that could be the fault of my apartment's mediocre flooring. Oh, well! It looks nice enough now that it's assembled, but the assembly instructions and the pictures attached to them do not always match what previous steps had shown, which caused me some confusion in the building process and made it take longer, since I was flipping back to previous pictures to make sure I wasn't crazy and that I had followed the directions properly up to that point. Also, even if everything you receive is undamaged, be prepared for your building space, your clothes, and possibly your hair to be absolutely covered in little styrofoam fluffs. They went just...everywhere. I had to use a duster or a damp paper towel to wipe all the styrofoam off the individual cabinet pieces, because it was stuck all over them, too. Not sure what about the packaging process creates so much static electricity for that to happen, but I digress. Point being, it will be messy. Again, it looks nice now that all the headache-inducing missteps are done with, and it is quite a bit wider than I expected. I bought it to provide myself extra pantry space that my 1/1 simply doesn't have in its kitchen, and it is working well enough for that. But it is, at its core, still cheap, Chinese crap, like most things on Amazon are these days; just particle board slapped together with some screws and nails. I suppose there's a reason it was the least expensive side-bar/island I could find.

Reconsider Before Buying
Overall it’s a nice looking unit, but I’m not sure the time spent building this (around 4 hours) was worth the headache. The top drawer is somewhat flimsy. I would not trust to store anything too heavy. As soon as I opened the box and saw the flimsy styrofoam, I knew I was going to have some trouble, but never realized it was going to take close to 4 hours to build. I’ve had my fair share of furniture pieces to build, so I’m not a complete newbie when it comes to putting things together. This rolling kitchen island, however, was very time consuming to build. The instructions were inconsistent. The instructions illustrations could have been printed larger to see exactly where the screws needed to be. The instructions would have been very helpful if they noted the placement of the finished and unfinished side of the pieces during the building process. I had to continuously double check that I wasn’t screwing anything from the wrong side. I did like that all the different screws and parts were labeled so it helped a lot when trying to follow the instructions. There were quite a few missing pre-drilled holes where it called for a screw to be placed. This I think was why it took longer to build. For example, there were no pre-drilled holes for the wheels to be screwed into the bottom of the kitchen island, so I had to drill those holes myself. The doors themselves did not have any pre-drilled holes for the plastic hinges so I had to do the same thing I did with the wheels. The plastic door handles were tough to screw in for whatever reason. Definitely recommend having a power drill handy to build this thing. The top I was actually impressed with. It seemed sturdy enough. I am planning on covering this with marble vinyl just so it can match with the rest of my kitchen. I was hoping that the entire unit would become more sturdy during the building process, but it seemed somewhat flimsy to me. Having the top screwed on definitely helped at the end. I am a bit disappointed that the backside of the unit is the flimsy cardboard material with the colored “wood” film on the finish side. I think the listing should state the end backside/back panel of the unit is unfinished. I ordered this with the intention of having this as a kitchen island primarily for more storage space. Let’s see how long this unit will last.

Great for the price!
This kitchen island is great for it's price. I live in a 1 bedroom apartment and it fits well in my kitchen. It also matches my current cabinets and countertops. I had a couple little issues with assembly. Mainly the 2 cabinet doors. Be careful and follow the directions closely. I ended up scratching the island a bit. The scratches were on the inside and not visible, so not an issue. Also, some of the pre notched screw holes were off a tad, but I was still able to screw into the spots needed. Be ready to put a little muscle into getting the screws in. There are some issues with the island. The wheels aren't the best, so it's not the easiest to maneuver if I need to move it. It's also a little wobbly but not to bad. Overall I give the island 4 stars, it has worked out nice for me so far. It is a good value for its price tag. I'm happy with my purchase I can also personally tell you the seller is 5 stars. The island took some very minor damage during shipping, one of the corners of the counter top peeled up a tiny bit. Also, some of the hardware to put it together got loose and some of the screws fell out and were missing. I contacted the seller to see about replacing the missing screws or to advise me on where I could purchase. I also asked about how I could repair the corner that was peeling up. The seller asked my address and they sent out the missing screws, as well as sending me a new counter top. To get this type of customer service for an island priced in this price range, there is something to be said about that. Talk about value. You can buy this island with confidence knowing the seller will be there to fix any issues you may have.
