I Like You Like That

I really loved this book. It was sweet and there was some edge to it. Nothing completely unpredictable but it was a seriously enjoyable read. I loved following the history between Birdie and Liam. The feelings and the not knowing how to process them is something I think a lot of us know so well. This will totally be one of those books I will read again in the future.

Kayla Grosse does it again with this Rockstar/Bodyguard romance! I love her writing! Her plot and spice combo are always on point! This book is also out on Audiobook and it’s performed by Grayson Owens and Angelina Rocca! They did this story justice! Angelina voicing a rockstar character will always be my favorite way to hear her voice. I also love how her tone is able to capture the strength of this FMC. And every time Grayson said “Ms Wilder” as Liam gave me goosebumps! He helped voice Liam’s toughness and charisma while also making us feel his vulnerable side.This was truly a fun read with a great plot twist. My only thing about Birdie and Liam is that Birdie is a much stronger woman than I am because I seriously would have gone off on Liam many, many times… Liam really needed to pull his head out of his…you know what… and once he did, I literally fist pumped into the air!Definitely check this book/audiobook out of you enjoy:•Rockstar/Bodyguard romance•Plus size FMC•Frenemies to Lovers•Second Chance Romance•Body Positivity

This is my third work from Kayla Grosse that I have read. This was a little slow for me in the beginning compared two the novellas I have read by her.This was a cute friends to enemies to lovers book. It was also a celebrity/bodyguard romance. It was just shy of 300 pages and was a decent read for me. I liked how protective Liam was over Birdie, but I can't with a third act breakup. It always feels so rushed in the end to get to the HEA.Overall, it was a cute story, but not one that I particularly fancied.Spice level was a 1.5/5 for me.

THIS WAS SUCH A FUN READ! I absolutely loved reading about a character who looks more like me! Birdie is such a strong, beautiful, confident woman - I love that she owns her truth, her sexuality, and I appreciate so much that she loves herself and does not let fatphobic b/s get her down. It was so honest to see that even with all of her confidence, the way people have treated her in the past and still continue to treat her now while she is a huge success, can still leave an echo. The storyline was fun and I liked the suspense intermingled with the romance. I liked it so much I bought a copy and sent it to a friend while I was only halfway through! Thank you Kayla, for writing a well written, kind, and beautiful character that women of any size can relate to, but especially those of us who look like her!

"I will never like you like that." I don't think there are any other words that can obliterate a self-conscious, fat teenage girl's heart like these can. Birdie finally finds the courage to tell her best friend her true feelings for him and those are the words she gets back. From there, their friendship ends and they part ways.Ten years pass and Birdie is now a famous rockstar and Liam is a retired cop turned bodyguard. It's impossible (though he tries) for Liam not to know anything about Birdie's life and she only knows bits and pieces about him through their mutual best friends. Things change when Billie starts getting strange letters from a fan and her team convinces her that she needs a bodyguard. That's when her friends intervene and send Liam.Now reunited, they have too face the music (literally) because the goal is to keep Billie alive, Thrown together in tight quarters, they'll finally air out everything their teenage hearts never managed to do. If they can, they might live the love Birdie sings about. This was cute and sweet and steamy! I (as a plus size woman myself) can relate to a lot of happens in this story, especially from Birdie's side of things. Yes, there is some miscommunication, but we're talking about teenagers who have no control of their feelings. When they finally face them as adults, you fall in love again with them. Liam does annoy me a few times and not for the reasons you might think, but, like Birdie, I forgave him in the end. Cute, sweet escapism and I had a lot of fun!Dual style narration by the ever-so-talented Angelina Rocca, who's a wonderful choice for Birdie and Grayson Owens. It was my first time listening to him and I am so going back for more! He has a beautiful voice and his performance is spot on. Loved them together!We have a bit of suspense, a lovely "second chance romance", a hot bodyguard, strong "found family" vibes, body positivity and a sweet happily ever after.

Liam and Birdie.. teenage friends.. Birdie felt more, but Liam thought he didn't. Ignorance and fear kept them apart, but they found ways back to each other (with a little influene/meddling from friends). The whole lot of the mare a sweet group. I typically am not a fan of the 3rd act conflict but overall, this one was not too bad. It fed the storyline without injecting too much drama into the smaller group of scenes. Well-written and I appreciate the female rock star, curvy heroine, friends-to-enemies-to-lovers, second chance story. All of that, and it didn't feel like a campy trope.

This book came out just at the right time! I was looking for a quick, escapist read and this fit the bill perfectly! Absolutely love Birdie and it was BEYOND refreshing and empowering to read a romance novel with a female protagonist who looks like me and so many other curvy women! Plus she’s a legit rock star and I am here for it! I love that it portrayed the realness of struggles with body image particularly in regards to the self doubt that sometimes creeps in when you’re in a relationship with someone who has a different body type than you! What a nice change of pace from all the others in that regard! Not to mention that the plot aside from the main characters is great! Loved the suspense and the whole Bodyguard element was fabulous (love me any kind of Whitney shoutout!) - can’t wait to see what this author brings us next! Keep them coming!

Everything about this book was great. The building tension and the complications throughout. Fantastic read. Another 5 star read by Kayla.

3rd book by Kayla, can’t wait for the next one.Love this story. Spicy, love, twists, family. Has everything.Liam is a complex character, more to him as you read. 💗

This was the sweetest way of starting 2023, great dynamic between characters, amazing main girl and sweet lover boy. Loooooved this! Totally recommended.
