An Introduction to Theoretical and Computational Aerodynamics (Dover Books on Aeronautical Engineering)

My first CFD book
A really accessible introduction to computer methods for fluid mechanics. Panel methods, boundary layers, turbulence, finite differences – all the basics are there. In the age of high-performance computing, where 3D simulations are often the first and only tool, the very useful approximations in this book are often forgotten. But they deliver practical results at a fraction of the cost, as long as one keeps in mind their limitations.

The codes are not just in FORTRAN, but Ancient F77 era code.
I wish this had been my undergraduate aerodynamics text. The code listing included are in an very ancient form of Fortran (like from the fixed width, 80 characters per line, Punch Card era) but work well enough as pseudo code to port it to your modern language of choice. The book covers a good range of topics, but i wish a few of the plots were in color. The book is more than worth it for the code listing included.

Four Stars
Excellent book in presenting basic theory. Fortran programs although dated show the implementation of the equations.

Moran is Good
Excellent resource for aerospace engineers. We used it for my graduate-level aerodynamics class. Very clear and consistent.

An Excellent Aerodynamics Textbook
This book offers a very readable, interesting and up-to-date overview of aerodynamics. It is well written and well organised with clear explanations. The book is suitable for college students. It is also a fantastic tool for those who wish to teach themselves aerodynamics and have the background in physics and mathematics to handle it.Major topics include a review of basic fluid dynamics, computational fluid dynamics, incompressible irrotational flow, inviscid flow, wings of finite span, the Navier-Stokes Equations, supersonic aerodynamics, boundary layer theory, panel methods and finite difference methods.Overally, an excellent book that is well worth having.

Great book for my plane-happy aeronautical engineer-to-be
In depth without being too complicated. Great book for my plane-happy aeronautical engineer-to-be!

Excellent book for computer purposes
It combines theory with computational aspects of aerodynamics for use with Matlab software. If you want theory and sample calculations, this is not for you, but if you have computer software such as Matlab or similar this is for you.

kurz und schlicht: sehr gut
zum Einstieg in die Aerodynamik hervorragend geeignet - allerdings wird ein höheres Maß an mathematischen Grundlagen erwartet - ansonsten sehr lesenswert
