Good three jaw chuck, but the handle slides out of the chuck key.
The handle on the chuck key falls out, it has no retainer. Desiring an elegant solution I went into my spring drawer and found two coil springs that I cut to 3/8" length. I drove them onto the handle on either side of the key and they look very nice. No more handle sliding out of the key The chuck fit the backing plate and runs true. I like the three key holes. Before I used it I stamped the corresponding jaw number on the chuck to simplify jaw ccharges. Great chuck for my eighty year old lathe and what i use it for.

it has a plastic backplate
it has a plastic backplate. it is a copy of the original 7x1x mini lathe chuck. I bought it to use on a 4 inch rotary table so it will work fine for that purpose.
