The Ordinary 100% L-Ascorbic Acid Powder, Vitamin C Treatment for Brightening & Anti-Aging, 20g

I’ve been using this powder in my morning routine for a good couple of years now. The package was immaculate, and the powder is what I expected it to be. Good price, so I’ll be purchasing it more often from this retailer. I mix the powder with a few drops of Resveratrol and Ferulic Acid in the palm of my hands and apply it to my cleaned face and neck, followed by an SPF moisturiser. It’s done wonders for my skin. Don’t give up, consistency is the key. Don’t expect immediate results, but great in the long run.

I use this to make my own vitamin C serum it’s terrific and last me well over a year.

I've started using this every other night and notice my skin is definitely less red and has a more even tone. Depending on how much you use, it can leave a bit of a chalky residue, but I always put moisturiser over it and only use before bed.

I was highly skeptical of vitamin c in skincare after watching a bunch of dermatologists explain how unstable it is in serums. (Apparently it oxidises before it gets absorbed causing it to do more damage than good). But, I did some reading, watched a bunch more derm videos, tried to find some medical journals and decided that buying a powder so that I could mix it up then apply it straight away might be safer. My skin looks amazing. I have no idea whether that is just a placebo, but after 3 days I have already noticed a difference in the texture of my forehead. Some people say it stings for a few minutes after application, but I've not noticed this - I only mix up a teeny amount into another (water-based) serum and I dab it on gently.

Can't get a better deal than this pure l-ascorbic acid powder at $7. One scoop in your palm, 1-2 drops water to dissolve, then apply. I can feel my face tighten right after I use it. I don't get the tingling others report but I've been using other Vit C serums for quite some time now. L-ascorbic acid is the most effective Vit C, but not commonly used in the affordable lines and you may have to use some other forms depending on your skin type. It states on the package, do not use with nicotinamide. Some formulations include nicotinamide so I wonder what would be the result of using them. Also, many formulations include Vit E or other oils, but l-ascorbic acid is water soluable and Vit E is fat soluable, how effective are they mixed together? To get the benefit of various oils, I let the l-ascorbic acid soak in first, then layer on my vit E or castor oil with essential oils. This is my new go to Vit C product! Very pleased.Update: Been using this for a couple weeks and noticing good results. I had gotten into a funk over the last couple years and let my facial care slide, sporadic at best, usually not at all. It added up and suddenly I looked old, saggy and dull. Using this l-ascorbic acid as my base has turned things around. Since I went up to a full scoop I do feel it tingle now, but it's not uncomfortable. I do advise building up to it first. I look more youthful and alive, I don't groan when I see myself in the mirror any more and I seem to be back to where I was 2 years ago. No small feat since I am in my 70's. Works great for me, happy I found it and can mix it fresh every time I use it.

This is the most cost effective and effective product I have from The Ordinary (and I have upwards of a dozen on the go at any one time). I mix a tiny spoonful with aplha arbutin and apply after hyaluronic acid and before The Inkey List tranexamic acid - that amount goes over my face, decolletage, and forearms. The idea is to target sun damage and it works. I've seen negative reviews that it's grainy but I just add enough AA to counteract that and don't apply til it's a smooth consistency in my hands. Also I use this after any session in the pool - vitamin C is like the chemical opposite of chlorine and in my experience (as a swim teacher) nothing else neutralizes the smell and effects.
