Gives my hair depth and gentle color
I have used about 5 bottles of Merlot keracolor, both when I had short hair and now when I have longer hair. I love this stuff! I do not get my hair colored, so I’m not using this as a refresher, but as a way to add depth and color to my dark brown/graying hair. I found my first gray hair when I was 17 and I’ve been graying ever since. Some days I like my grays, but other days they make me feel old (I’m only 37). Enter keracolor; this stuff smells great, is easy to apply (wear gloves because it does stain!) and lasts several hair washes. The bottle does state that this product is not recommended for gray hair, but I took a chance based on some of the reviews of women who have even more gray hair than me. I apply this color in sections, starting at the roots at the top and sides of my head (that’s where most of my gray is) and working my way down through small sections to my neck. You will want to saturate your hair (I apply on dry hair), don’t skimp. The directions say to leave on for 3-20mins, I leave it on for 1-2hours now. When I first started using this I’d leave it for 20-30mins then rinse out, but the color wasn’t depositing as much as I’d like. Then one day I got busy and didn’t get to rinse it out until about an hour and a half in and the color was beautiful, so now I leave it for 1+ hours every time. I am a 2 hair wash days a week girl so this color lasts on me for a while, but it will come off my gray roots, right at my scalp, pretty fast after the first shampoo, so I typically touch up my roots between my first and second shampoo post keracolor. Now that my hair is mid back I can usually only get 2-3 colors out of this bottle, but when my hair was shorter I could get 4-5. Make sure to massage the color into your hair and come through to the ends. Other reviews have said that this product dries their hair out, I have not had that problem, but I condition my ends to my mids every time which probably helps. For me, this product is so worth it, especially at its currently $13 price.

Natural Redhead with Virgin Hair Here....
TL;DR Easy to use. Didn't turn my virgin hair orange. Applied on wet natural red virgin hair for 8 minutes. Smell isn't bad. Hair left soft and conditioned. Achieved desired results. Reapply once a week (or as needed). Highly recommend! (updates at the bottom) I'm 43 years old and my hair is starting to darken out to an auburn I don't really care much for. People are starting to call my red hair brunette. Makes me sad I'm losing the vibrancy of my red!! After reading the reviews I was scared to try this. Many were way more orange than I wanted. Most are on already bleached/color treated hair. The application times and methods were all over the place. I wanted only subtle change and nothing drastic. I wanted to keep my red hair natural looking, but make the color pop again. I read through SO MANY of these reviews trying to decide if I should and how to execute this flawlessly. Lol APPLICATION METHOD I USED: I decided to stay on the safe side and apply it in the shower on wet hair for 8 minutes. If it wasn't enough I would up the time. I know it washes out but I didn't want to have to take 3 showers to tone it down and waste unnecessary product. I washed my hair with shampoo first to make sure my scalp and roots were clean and free of oils. Then used approximately 6 pumps total and worked it into my hair (like shampoo) again. Then ran a comb through it all from root to ends to ensure even distribution. After my 8 minute timer went off, I Rinsed with cool water and got out. I used a hair dryer to dry my hair. Curled it all then took the photo. ROOTS: I noticed many mentioned their roots not being touched and I'm not sure on those if they were all on people with color treated hair. I felt like I read one natural that felt the roots got neglected. There was no issues with my roots STAINING: I had no issues with staining. Applying in the shower I just worked it into my hair and didn't get it everywhere. Rinsed my hands immediately once I got it in there. SMELL I personally liked the smell. It's not very strong. I'm honestly surprised it even has been mentioned. CONDITIONING It left my hair feeling soft. It was nearly slipping out of my curling iron afterwards. COLOR I am happy with the color it has added. Very subtle, but I can tell. It did not completely cover my greys but I do think one wash with it toned them down. Is exactly what I was looking for. I might wait a couple washes and then leave it on wet hair for 10 minutes. Then update with a photo. MAINTAIN COLOR: I apply this about once a week and apply it more to my roots than the rest of my hair. Then comb out down through my wet hair with a large toothed comb so that it blends in, but doesn't continue to overdue the ends as much. EYEBROWS: I've applied this to my eyebrows so that they match better. Must do so carefully unless you want stains around your brows. ;) REMOVE COLOR: I accidentally discovered that Apple Cider Vinegar shampoo will take most all of the color out in one wash! I wanted to add this for anybody that would like to reverse the process after undesired results. I LOVE that this has and will revived my natural red hair!! Highly recommend to my fellow natural redhead sistas!! UPDATE: It's really hard to get the red to show up in pictures, but I wanted to update how things were going on this product. It is now April 3, 2024. After a few applications I received the shade I used to be. I use this once a week and only for about 5 minutes on wet hair. UPDATE: I have now been using this for over a year as needed to blend in at the roots to keep it looking vibrant and natural. In Sept 2024 I received a complement from a flight attendant telling me to never color my hair. Trust her that she used to be a hairdresser. So pleased she couldn't tell I touch up my natural red hair. Made my day. :) Last picture is today after a year use. Dec 28, 2024. UPDATE APRIL 13, 2026 Still using, still happy. I picked up another compliment from a hairdresser commenting how beautiful my hair is and to never color it. I have this on subscription, and already have three bottles on standby. However, I noticed it's nearly half off today, so ordering a couple more to save money in the long run. Because I never want to be without it. Hope they never discontinue this product, because that ALWAYS happens when I find something I absolutely love. If you are thinking about buying this, now is the time to give it a shot and save some money! ❤️💲💵💸

Solid product for a pink refresh
I dye my hair with semi permanent light pink. Pink is such a hard color to keep in my hair. This is a good product for refreshing your color between dye jobs. It also makes your hair soft, smells great, doesn’t stain clothes or fingers, and rinses clean. However, there is definitely a learning curve with it. If you use it in the shower on wet hair like it says on the bottle, you will have little to no pink pigment at all. If you place it on dry hair and let it sit for 10+ minutes and rinse with cold water, no shampooing or conditioner after, this will be your result. Wash and condition your hair first. It’s a very light pastel pink. Also should be noted that the color is pretty much gone after one wash with cold water and color safe shampoo. I would recommend using after every wash if you want pink to stay in your hair fully and not look dull and peachy. SO overall, solid product. Ideally, I’d like more color payoff and have it last a few washes. But, I appreciate that I don’t have to dye my hair between salon visits. I would recommend this product for sure. Just know what you’re getting with it. 🩷

Beautiful even on dark brown unbleached hair!
Okay, so I did days of reading on various coloring products and reviews and photos, etc., before deciding on this for my granddaughter's pretty dark brown hair. She had previously, about 8 weeks prior, had some of the ends bleached and colored red at the salon. It faded nearly instantly at the first shower and then with one swim it was essentially all gone and left a bit of a golden lighter brown color. It was costly, very costly. More color was purchased but it was a peroxide mix and after reading lots of reviews I realized for many people that faded, especially red, just as fast as other semi-permanent colors without the bleaching. As you can see her hair is pretty long. We used not quite half of the bottle I think, and smeared it throughout her hair from about the chin down, not putting any above that. Covered it with a light plastic cap, but used no heat of any kind. Let it sit 2 hrs then rinsed out with cool water. Probably only rinsed about 3 or 4 minutes. While it was wet you could see the red tint but after drying for the most part, you could really see the red, especially outside in the sunlight. She was very happy with this and I will update as time goes by, noting how long it lasts. I just ordered the cleanser/conditioner so we will use that once it arrives. For now we will not be using any shampoo and just rinsing the hair a few times a week in the shower and using the color+clenditioner as needed to maintain the color. Not sure how often that will be just yet. The color is phenomenal, though, and I'm surprised it took so well with her hair being dark. This smells really good and is so easy to use, not a drip anywhere. I didn't use gloves because I just can't do anything with gloves, and the color washed off my hands almost completely the first try. My cell camera doesn't really accurately portray the color red on anything so these are exactly accurate but mostly. It's very pretty. I would highly recommend this if you don't want to bleach your hair, and even if you do. The red tint this gives off even on the darker parts where it's not as pronounced is just beautiful, like a vivid deep auburn. We are really, really happy with this!

Burned my scalp
I loved this at first. It corrected my henna-toned hair to my more natural brown, and covered grays adequately until the next shampoo. BUT— I realize this was my mistake, so I want to warn other users. One time I left it on a long time, probably three hours or more, before rinsing it out late at night. The next day, my scalp burned badly, so I washed it out as soon as I could. Didn’t use it for awhile. Did a henna treatment, which made my hair too red again, so decided to cover it with this again. I made sure to only leave it on 20-30 minutes. Well, my scalp must have been damaged by the first mistake, because within about 12 hours, it was burning again. I rinsed it and rinsed it and rinsed it again. It still feels painful, but not as bad. Reading about how to cure this online, I found it could be very serious and could cause permanent damage. So be aware, and don’t do the stupid thing I did.

Saved My Expensive Hair Color — Brought the Tone and Shine Back!
I am genuinely very impressed with this product. I recently spent around $500 getting my hair professionally colored, so I was pretty disappointed when I noticed the color beginning to fade only a few weeks later. After spending that much money on my hair, the last thing I wanted was to go back to the salon and spend even more just to refresh the color. I decided to try this Keracolor Color + Clenditioner, and I’m really glad I did. It basically saved my hair color. After using it, my color looked noticeably more refreshed and vibrant. The biggest difference for me was the tone. My hair looked much more even and closer to the color I originally wanted instead of having that washed-out, faded appearance that was starting to develop. It also gave my hair a beautiful shine. My color looked richer, fresher, and healthier afterward. Instead of looking like hair that had already started fading, it looked much closer to freshly colored hair again. What I especially like is that this isn’t just about making the hair darker or adding random color. In my experience, it helped bring the existing color back to life and made the overall tone look better. That’s exactly what I was hoping for. When you’ve spent hundreds of dollars at a salon, maintaining the color between appointments becomes really important. I didn’t want to keep paying for frequent salon touch-ups simply because my color was gradually washing out. This has been a great way for me to keep my hair looking refreshed between salon visits. The difference I noticed: * My fading color looked refreshed * The tone looked much better and more even * My hair looked noticeably shinier * The color appeared richer and more vibrant * Helped extend the look of my expensive salon color * My hair looked much less faded afterward Of course, everyone’s results will depend on their starting hair color and condition, but for my hair, the difference was absolutely noticeable. I spent around $500 on my hair only a few weeks before trying this, so I was very nervous watching that expensive color start to fade. Finding something that helped bring the color and tone back without immediately needing another salon appointment was a huge win for me. Definitely 5 stars from me. This is one of those hair products where I could actually see a difference. My color looks more toned, vibrant, and shiny, and I’m extremely happy with the result. If you’ve recently had your hair professionally colored and you’re trying to maintain that fresh salon look as the color begins to fade, this is absolutely worth trying.

Silver-blonde maintenance + BRUNETTE UPDATE
I have used the purple/platinum before and loved that, but the pictures are after two washes with the SILVER. I didn’t really see any reviews for this color with photos so I wanted to post some to help out any prospective buyers. When I was platinum blonde, the purple/platinum keracolor was my favorite hair product for maintenance — it didn’t leave any purple hues but was still effective. However, I found that it takes a LOT of toning to banish extremely stubborn yellow from my hair, so I decided to go in a more silvery-gray direction. I’m so glad I did because I’m absolutely in love with it like this!! As you can see, there’s zero yellow, any blonde that’s visible is super ashy, and it’s shiny & dimensional enough not to look straight-up gray. Keep in mind that I originally made my hair silver with proper salon-quality toner after a bleaching session — I use the keracolor clenditioner to *maintain* the silver look for the 6-ish weeks between touch-ups. Not only does it help even out any spots I might’ve missed & ensures that the silver doesn’t fade, but also keeps it feeling nice and healthy. In my experience, it feels clean and doesn’t get greasy for at least 3 days (I wash my hair about 2x per week), but everyone is different — if you’re prone to greasy hair, use a shampoo beforehand, and if you’re prone to dry hair, use a conditioner afterward. Please remember that unless you’re trying to tint darker hair, most of the available colors will only turn out as they’re supposed to if you have really really light blonde hair, like a level 9+ — otherwise they may be darker than anticipated or totally ineffective, which can obviously be disappointing. If you do have really pale blonde/bleached hair like mine, you don’t need to leave it in too long for it to work. I leave it in for about 2-5 minutes, but you can leave it in longer for a more intense look. If you dislike the result, the color should come out after a few washes with clarifying shampoo. If the color is still stubbornly clinging to your locks, try using Color Oops — it will not damage your hair, so you can use it as many times in a row as you need to to remove deposited color. Note: My hair is naturally a really dark brown (about a level 4-5 with reddish undertones) but I bleach & tone it myself at home with salon-quality products (I do not/cannot recommend bleaching your own hair — it took a lot of research, some trial & error, and consults with professionals, it is a great skill to have). Overall I highly recommend this as long as you know what to expect :) UPDATE 07/2023: My hair is the same length as it was in those photos about a year ago (I keep it trimmed at a medium bob). As I mentioned in my prior review, my natural dark-brown hair has some red undertones that are hard to get rid of. I’ve had it dyed my natural color for about 8mo now, just from a box. Hoping to dye it a dark silver shade, I did a round of Color-Oops to remove the remaining brown, leaving it with about 4” of natural root and 5” lengths of bleached dirty blonde leftover from my platinum phase. I used the silver Klenditioner on wet hair for about 20 minutes, hoping to tone out some of the aggressive gold while waiting for a tube of professional ultra-ashy toner to arrive. I was so surprised when I rinsed it & saw what a beautiful “bronde” my lengths had turned. I didn’t expect it to do anything to my natural hair, but the red undertones are basically gone, leaving me with super soft dark chocolate to mushroom ombré. I LOVE THIS STUFF.

Worked for me- but read the description before purchasing!
First and foremost, this is a GENTLE color without developer, not meant to be like a permanent dye. It will NOT cover grays. They specifically don’t recommend it for grays, so I’m not sure why everyone is complaining about that. Go buy a cheap box if you’re looking for gray coverage. I have a lot of grays these days, but I also have hair that is varying degrees of browns and auburns. I want to grow my grays in, but I don’t want to have multicolored hair while waiting. This covered all the browns to a nice muted black, and the grays remained like little shimmery pops of color. I will add a photo when I do it again. *** I happen to be allergic to a crazy amount of stuff, and this didn’t affect me at all! I will continue to buy it until I trim off the rest of the old dyes and start fresh. I use mine on dry hair, then rinse after 15 minutes.

Satisfied
This product is small but it works. I bought it because I couldn't find the hair colour I buy in stock anywhere (Splat). I wanted to try the purple karacolour as that is or was rather my hair colour. But that colour was not in stock either. My hair was faded pink as the purple splat turns pink when it fades. So I figured blue and pink make purple. It is not the intense same shade of purple as it was afrer only two 3 minute uses. But is instead more of a pastel indigo, I am happy with it.

WAY BETTER than I expected
I had my hair done and it came out a lot more white than I would have liked... my own fault. Every day I was feeling more insecure about it looking like greys. I needed a quick fix before I had to run into work and this helped my hair go from white to a nice blonde. Big sigh of relief! I only had to use it 1 time! Very conditioning. I wanted to add pictures but Amazon is being finicky!!

Excelente
Me encanta! Deja el cabello suavecito y mantiene el color, por lo tanto, ya no hay que usar tinte tan seguido, siento que es la mejor transición para el cabello canoso ya que no las cubre al 100%, si lo recomiendo!

Excellent product
This is the best conditioner for maintaining pink/rose gold hair colours. It leaves your hair super soft while rejuvenating the colour. Plus, you could even use this as a hair dye alone. My hair stylist recommended I use a different brand to maintain my colour but it was awful and did nothing. So, on a whim I purchased this and it has been working beyond well for me!
