J-B Weld 31314 High Temperature RTV Silicone Gasket Maker and Sealant - Red - 3 oz.

Used to replace an SV’s gasket gone bad - clear instructions and good technique stopped my leak. Still have loads left but been about a week and no fault. Ensure you buy the heat resistant version if you’re using it on engine parts.

I had to rebuild and repair an old 1940s copper diesel tank, the original cork gasket was disintegrated so I used this to make a seal around the hatch and after two months of use it seems to be holding its own. I’d buy again if required.

Never used this stuff before or anything like it. Been rebuilding an engine from scratch for the first time. Surprisingly easy to apply, considering reviews of anything like this said it was hard to apply. Bit like icing a cake a suppose. As for whether it does the job well, smells bad and dries quick, I I’ve nothing else to compare it to but I was happy with the result so far. Let’s hope the engine is sealed as it should be.

Great high temperature sealant, if stored properly a tube will last you years (writing this review nearly 2 years after my purchase) and its still good with no seperation. If you properly prepare the surfaces by removing all debris and grease this sealant will work for many different applications and materials - if using it on oil pans it is critical you clean the mating surfaces meticulously and degrease them thouroughly, apply a bead and smear it with a gloved finger or plastic spatula and reapply some where it thins out so you get a good even coverage to avoid it blobbing out and don't forget to retorque the pan with a criss cross pattern to make sure you're evenly spreading the torque so the rtv doesn't thin out where there are machining imperfections on the mating surfaces - if you're failing to get a oil pan seal you have a very distorted pan head which is very common, you might be better off using the proper gasket for the pan with loctite 5923 as a liquid gasket and apply this rtv on any joints using the smear technique. I've used it recently as a make shift gasket to replace a impossible to source gasket for a throttle body in a 2012 kia ceed 1.6 crdi that has a EGR and DPF, it's easy to apply with the tapered cap, it cures within a really reasonable amount of time, it's affordable and it has many applicable uses.

Yes it works. But you have to apply correctly. Clean both flanges and gaskets well and allow 24 hours to set before heating up engine.

100% recommend. I bought this off the back of a chat with AI on the best silicone sealer for a new Scorpion GPF back exhaust. Couldn’t be happier with the seal. I made 2 rings, approximately 2-3mm thick inside the female end of each of the 2 connecting pipes for my i20n. Formed a complete seal and have half of it left, which probably won’t be used. No air leaks, no smell or burning. I did give it around an hour to set/ cure after putting bits of the car together having rented a ramp for 6hrs (fit other bits too). On initial startup underneath the car there was zero burn off or smells etc. Highly recommend the copper silicone version.

Bought this to fix the inner and outer glass of my electric oven door. Been looking for one at the local hardware stores but didn’t find one. Purchased this since it’s mentioned for glass and oven doors and suitable for high temp applications. Worked great and baked a few cakes since - all good. Just has to take note that it takes about 24 hours to complete heal.
