I bought this to replace my 9th gen CPU laptop with GTX1060 MaxQ GPU. Because I bought the barebone model, I purchased 32GB Crucial DDR5 RAM and Hynix 1tb Platinum SSD. I cannot be happier because this mini PC satisfies all my needs and expectations. * Game Performance: One thing that was not clear to me was how well 780M would work with a game I sometimes play, World of Tanks. Comparing to 1060 MaxQ, 780M works better. Not sure about other games because that's the only one I play. * Cooling and noise level: These are beyond my expectations. It barely makes any sound even when I play the game. It gets warm on one side of the top after the game play. But, it cools down quickly and stays cool. In other uses, I didn't notice any heat-up. * Things to consider: When you need to install the OS by yourself, you may experience some issues. The wifi was not detected by Windows 11. I could not locate the correct drivers even after downloading them from Minisforum. And I could not locate any documents or manuals that are helpful. So, I used the trial version of Driver Easy to install all drivers. It solved all problems. (I believe other driver installation programs will work fine.) * One more: When you want to install or upgrade the SSD or RAM, you need to open the mini PC. The bottom legs are stickers. You can detach them carefully from the corner to the middle (bc that's where the bolts are and least sticky part). The rest is easy. Before my PC is arrived, Minisforum announced a higher version: UM890. It seems attractive because it has the Oculink connection that can be used for eGPU. In my opinion, if you are serious about using eGPU, you'd better consider a desktop. This miniPC is perfect for me for everyday use & work and some games.

Awesome little powerhouse. I use it as a home server. It does everything I need with flying colors and it barely uses any power. That being said, it can’t really run any AI models; even the smallest Gemma 4 model is too much. That being said, it’ll handle everything you can throw at it from Plex, Jellyfin, and more. You do have to go into the UEFI to increase ram availability to the iGPU. I’ve also used it with Proxmox running multiple VMs. It can game and emulate well too. If you want a small, powerful desktop or an overkill homelab, I highly recommend this mini pc.

I have been build PCs and server for the last 20 years and I really like this little machine. The Ryzen 7 8785H is a fast chip. Despite being a mobile chip it runs nearly as fast as it's desktop brethren zen4 series equivalents due to its smaller process and better efficiency. I don't game, I use it for purely productivity and it opens and runs my applications fast. In the last few years I have gone from a full desktop form factor, to a slimline and then this. At a fourth of the size, this is 3x faster than my previous slim line . Its small size frees up my desk space. I have fully loaded and stressed tested the unit and it handles the heat of the small enclosure just fine with no throttling. I can't comment on the longevity because it has only been a couple weeks but thus far I am very impressed and I recommend it.

I love this little computer! The good: Small, quiet, reasonably powerful, power sipper, build your own optional, easy to work inside, reliable. I've had it running nearly nonstop for 4 months straight, and it's never given me an issue. No issues with OS compatibility. I installed Linux on mine (LMDE 6) and it has no issues managing any of the hardware. Windows will work fine too. The Bad: I don't have anything to complain about, but it's important have appropriate expectations... It can game or do lightweight professional work if you wish, but high demand gaming, complex or large compiling, or high demand video, audio or image rendering may be beyond its limitations. Good use cases: browsing, media playback, office work, lightweight gaming, home server, something for grandma, or similar. Supports up to 2 displays via HDMI.

UPDATE: After a year, it will no longer power on. I am hoping this is a power supply issue and I have ordered a replacement one in hopes that solves it. That being said, this thing has always been on a UPS, in the year that I have had it, it has never lost power. A power supply should last more than 13 months. This is now the 4th Minisforums computer I have bought for work that has had power supply issues. I have never had an issue with Beelink. I replaced about 40 computers at my work with mini PCs, about 15% Minisforum and 85% Beelink and Beelink has been never given me an issue. 4 out of 6 or 7 seems like a very high average of failure. I love the UM890... it has been great for doing anything from Photoshop to Premiere and it does great at transcoding to hevc/h265... so this is highly disappointing. UPDATE #2: ordered a replacement power supply and it still wouldn't boot. This lead me to believe the power problem to be on the board. sent back the replacement power supply. Checked Reddit and saw lots of posts with people that have had the same problem with the UM890 and other Minisforums computers as well. UPDATE #3: I contacted MinisForums support which definitely takes awhile... if you are in the United States, it is about a 24 hour time delay of getting a reply. I sent my UM890 back to them and they have repaired it and sending it back to me. This process took about 3 weeks of my first email to them emailing me saying they have repaired it. So by the time it arrives, it will probably be between 3 - 4 weeks. That isn't exactly ideal but according to them they did repair it which is fantastic since this thing has went up over $300 since I originally bought about 14 months ago and I wasn't looking forward to spending nearly a thousand dollars on a replacement. I really wish I had gone with the GMKtek K11 over this. GMKtek support is amazing... my only reason for picking the UM890 over the K11 was the oculink port on the K11 is on the front instead of the rear. Now I wait to see how Minisforum support will handle this but I am pretty sure I will never buy another one of their products again. UPDATE #2 - received new power supply and the UM890 would still not boot up. When the new power supply is plugged into the UM890, it immediately faults. Something is definitely wrong on the UM890, not a power supply issue, just something wrong on the board. Miniforums support offered useless suggestions like holding down the reset button for 30 seconds, or removing ram/ssd and trying again, holding down power button for 3 seconds. I've seen other reviews and posts online with Miniforums computers having this exact issue. I will never order anything from them again after this. I know it says it in the description but it bears repeating... I didn't realize how much I would miss not having that 2nd m.2 slot if I wanted to use Oculink. I spent a lot of time looking at this and the similary speced one from GMKtec. There was only a $1 difference between the two at the time of purchasing but I opted for the Minisforum simply because the Oculink port was on the back and the GMKtec was on the front. In the end, aesthetics won out... had GMKtec put the Oculink on the back and didn't use the bright green button, I would have went that route... when I added the GMKtec oculink AD-GP1 to this, I had to give up my m.2 slot. Luckily I had a SSK nvme enclosure handy so I put my 2nd drive in it. Not a big fan of having all of these cables on my desk but it works. Performance wise, this thing is a champ for its size. It easily handles everything I do in Photoshop and Lightroom. We have used Premiere on lower end mini PCs but I haven't tried to do any video editing on this yet but if it works on a 5700u, I'm sure the 8945hs will be even better.... and with the AD-GP1, rendering should be faster than relying on the 780m. Honestly, it is amazing how much performance we can get now out of such a small form factor. The first thing I did was open it up which I must mention how AWESOME Minisfourm made this... the top snaps on magnetically so no need to try and remove the rubber feet... you just pop the top off and you are in. You need to remove the fan cable to get easier access and I wish they made that cable a bit longer because it is a bit more challenging reconnecting the cable than removing the cable. I ordered 2tb WD Black SN850 to replace the cheap looking one that came with it and I had an old 970 Evo that I had in the 2nd slot until I got the Oculink card. But seriously, being able to pop the magnetic top off to access the 4 phillips screws was a nice touch. There are 2 sticks of Crucial ram in it but I don't recall the speed. I will probably upgrade that two 64gb later. I wish the bios/uefi had an option for XMP... if it does, I didn't see it so I am hoping it is using the full speed of the ram, especially when I upgrade it later. I replaced my old desktop which was an AMD 3800X with a Radeon 5700XT and this thing out performs it at a fraction of the cost. I am pretty sure I paid more for the chip/motherboard than I did for this mini PC and it is easily 10 times smaller. Had Minisforum opted to have the Oculink separate from the secondary m.2 and a tad longer fan cable, this would be 5 stars... losing the m.2 slot was kinda painful and trying to reattach the fan cable is a tad frustrating given how short it is. Other than that, the price is hard to beat and the performance is phenominal for its miniscule size.

I Love MinisForum MiniPCs and this one is no different save for the fact that MinisForum has been installing the MediaTek MT7902 Bluetooth/WiFi adapter which is well known now to NOT work at all on Debian, Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Mint and several other flavors of the excellent Linux OS, particularly in this case all Ubuntu flavor versions 24.04 +. What you end up with is wonderfully fast, stable, mostly private "MightMini" with NO Bluetooth and NO wireless, none, zip, zero AND no way to fix that till Canonical fixes this for the entire Ubuntu family. This is the second system where this has been the case and it seems clear that it's NOT getting fixed AND MinisForum keeps installing this seemingly cursed adapters in certain of their models - Wake Up MinisForum and install something else in there else more bad reviews and returns and No one wants that! I've included a pic of the nasty little bugger so you can compare your with what I've found so troubling...

small bit powerful, not as noisy as i expected, it would be great if more upgrades are available. Stop working after 7 month, can not turn on normally, can hear the fan is working but it does not boot, not even able to get in BIOS. Update: after 2 weeks of communication, finally got the replacement from the manufacturer.

Wifi not supported on Linux. I knew that when buying, but a better wifi card would... be better. Works great for gitlab hosting, no noise.

Funcionou muito bem, por 5 meses. Mas agora deu problema e não liga, mesmo com a fonte funcionando. Utilizei sempre com nobreak, mas mesmo assim queimou algo. Se mora em lugar que tem muito pico de energia precisa tomar cuidado.

Buen equipo, incluye sus termal pads y tornillos extra, además que el puerto oculink se agradece aunque ocupe un puerto m2. La temperatura a veces creo que podría mejorar pero los ventiladores de fábrica si bien son muy silenciosos no dan la potencia para mantener la cpu en temperaturas cómodas bajo un estrés prolongado. Sin embargo se puede configurar los límites de temperatura y el tdp en la BIOS así que se puede manejar. Por el precio está bien si no se quiere adquirir la versión preensamblada para mejorar el ssd que suelen incluir, aunque si no buscas velocidades de 7000 MB/s para aprovechar el equipo yo recomendaría elegir la opción preensamblada por los costos actuales de la RAM. Fuera de todo esto, estoy satisfecho y lo considero un equipo sólido tomando en cuenta el rendimiento que se le puede llegar a exprimir más aún con su versatilidad con sus puertos USB4 y Oculink.

They guided me step-by-step through troubleshooting, promptly provided a new OS key, and even arranged for a full reimbursement for a replacement SSD I purchased locally to minimize downtime. Communication was always fast, clear, and courteous, and it was evident they were committed to making sure I was satisfied. As an IT professional, I deal with many hardware vendors, and I can honestly say this was some of the best customer service I have experienced. Minisforum did everything possible to rectify the issue, and I will not hesitate to order from them again in the future. Highly recommended!
