Outstanding piece of equipment
Groundbreaking piece of equipment. The Seneye Reef is a tool used for monitoring your water conditions in a marine tank. It monitors the PH, Nitrates and temperature and less succesfully the lighting. I think this is still a work in progress and it is improving all the time, but I am very glad I received this as a Chritmas present from my wife and I am happy to be involved in the progress. The Sensor eleviates the need to use any other test kits, which are expensive in themselves.

If all you buy it for are those and you're happy paying an over the top amount of money for ...
The parameters that are offered work. If all you buy it for are those and you're happy paying an over the top amount of money for them, by paying for the until and then paying monthly for the consumables, you'll be reasonably happy. What annoys me about the unit is that it was miss sold. I spoke to a company rep in person YEARS ago when I bought mine and they promised extra parameters like nitrate, nitrite, salinity etc. And that these were only weeks away. They have a 'Coming Soon' section on their website saying these are in testing and imminent. About three years ago they used to make announcements of what month, usually the next or one after, that these would be out. They have never materialised and yet because Seneye know how in demand they are, they continue to sell the product off the back of them, because realistically the measurements it does provide don't really justify the cost or the need.Ammonia is perhaps useful when you set up a tank to begin with. After the first few weeks you should never be seeing ammonia in your water again.Temperature is beneficial, but the likelihood is you already have a more complex temp controller, granted this does not warn you if it fails, and the Seneye does do that well. But bare in mind why a temp controller fails most often. Either a power cut, or something drops into the tank triggering an RCD to cut out. Either way, your internet connection has now gone down and your seneye isn't powered anymore, so you aren't getting alerted. The light meter is a bit of a gimmick. It works fine as well, but doesn't give constant reading when it's mounted to the side of the tank. You need to hold it flat and move it around while taking readings. It 'might' be useful if you want to grow some very specific types of coral that require specific light types, but usually everything is easier than that. I don't know anyone who has used it regularly either, you might check your tank once, but after that it's unlikely to change unless you maybe lose and led, but that should be visible when cleaning. What further compounded my dislike of the company was their refusal to admit error. I don't think they have been hit by a series of knock backs. I think they're selling based on something they know they can't provide. Their Facebook page and website used to be littered with complaints about this that they ignored, and would only reply to praise. If you look at both now, you'll see they have been locked down, so they choose what feedback they put out.We all know how the hobby works, new tech arrives and people pay over the top for it. That's how Seneye have managed to do so well for so long. Having waited over eagerly like so many others, for so long, only to be disappointed, not once or twice, but continually for around 4 YEARS! I have concluded they have no intention of delivering on their promises. Nothing is 'coming soon' this is all we are getting. And it's not good enough. Zero trust in the company, zero love for the product.

I used this for several months, but I eventually decided that the information it gives you is either not accurate, or much use, so I have stopped using it.

On the face of it this is not a bad piece of kit
On the face of it this is not a bad piece of kit, however unless you shell out a further £100 for the Seneye SWS (this replaces the need to have a PC connected continuously) you would be disappointed especially if you use the mobile app as its a bit of a chocolate fire guard only giving readings when the PC was last connected so as a real time monitor its flawed. If you really want one make sure you buy both units.

Worth every penny
This is a great little device once set up, although in hindsight it would be better to get the entire web server package if you don’t have a pc within easy reach of your tank. I can now focus on prevention rather than cure of problems, which obviously benefits the entire tank. Set up was tricky for me as it comes with ‘online instructions’ and i was born in the ‘70s...wouldn’t be without it now though.

Excellent for clear easy to read parameters. A small problem with the anti virus on my pc. Advice was clear and solved the problem.
