Great healthy option
My little guy seems to enjoy it. Though he is not picky at all. Only preference he seems to have is for poultry type flavors and even then if he is hungry enough he will eat other flavors. I feel like this is the best mid-grade choice for cats. Beats out the cheap brands that are loaded with by-products and grains and fillers. Because of this, it is just a step below the top (expensive) brands. This has a pretty high amount of protein and it is grain free. Also does not include carrageenan which some cat experts think is bad. But it does include Montmorillonite Clay which leads to some debate. General consensus is that it isn't bad and if there are effects, we do not know them yet. But the ingredient acts as an anti-caking agent in the food and also is a detoxifying ingredient. Also not impressed with the random fruits and veggies but luckily they makes up less than 5% of the ingredients and the obscure things like blueberries and cranberries? are listed last. I understand this is probably a slight cost saving measure for companies plus fruits and veggies sounds appetizing and wholesome to humans so we think our strict carnivore cats need it too. But just glad they kept it at 5% I definitely recommend this and I plan on keeping it in my rotation for some time. This probably won't be for every cat, like the gravy lovers out there. But it is worth a try, especially with a large flavor selection.

This was the brand the Cattery used to feed the adults and kittens and came so highly recommended, I thought hey
I have been using this wet canned food to compliment the dry Nutro brand food I feed my two Sphynx cats. This was the brand the Cattery used to feed the adults and kittens and came so highly recommended, I thought hey . . . why fix what isn't broken. You can find lower priced foods, but the key here is . . . Instinct is Grain Free. Other foods are less expensive because "Fillers" are added to reduce cost. My Sphynx cats are known for their very high metabolism and require quality nutrition for their health. I could you a cheaper and lower quality food, but I'm sure I would find that they would just eat even more of the cheaper food and fill up their litter box even quicker, and the smell would likely be worse. I have been very pleased with Instinct cat food, yes I wish it cost less, but I am most likely saving a little bit on the dry food cost, as they will consume less of the dry by supplementing twice a day with the wet food. In addition, most Catteries and Veterinarians will recommend at least one serving a day of wet food to keep the stools moist. OK . . . a little gross, but dry stools are not going to help out your cats health. I paid quite a bit for my two Sphynx, I'm not going to skimp on their health by purchasing sub-standard food. I believe Instinct is one of the very best quality foods you can buy in the medium-high price range. There are even more expensive foods out there, but I don't believe you need to spend the extra $'s, this food is of very high consistent quality. I heat up unused portions in the microwave for about 15 seconds so my Boys always get a hot meal served on a throw-away paper plate. Right out of a room temp can, I heat for about 5 seconds. I buy the Chicken flavor as it is much lower in cost, but I may spring for a case of the Duck or Lamb just to change things up a bit. A friend brought over a small can of the Duck and my Boys wolfed it down, you could tell they loved it. I will definitely watch out for any sales or promotions, but so far haven't seen any. Buy this food, you will be glad you did.

It was lit, Nature's Variety.
EDIT 3: After running out of cans, I ran to my local Petco. Once again, NV caused my cat to vomit, albeit I gave them one final chance and figured there may have been some soap left over from washing his plate. After testing my theory with a paper plate and getting the same result, I've finally given up on this brand. The numerous times I've had my kitty get sick from bad batches has made me lose my trust in this brand, especially since they rarely ever recall food despite numerous people complaining on amazon. I fed him tuna after the last 2 NV cans made him sick, low and behold he didn't vomit! Poor thing was starving. I've temporarily switched him to Wellness striped chicken and he hasn't thrown up. I advise anyone looking to buy this brand to look elsewhere. The company never replied to complaints on amazon right up until recently when numerous 1 star reviews started appearing. I still have the 2 empty sealed cans they packaged. One would assume numerous bad batches would imply amazon doesn't keep these properly stored, but if Petco is having bad batches too I am to assume either this brand has an ingredient that causes a reaction, or QC is slipping at NV which is very likely. Sayonara Nature's Variety, it was lit. EDIT 2: Got another empty can in my orders, this is starting to get ridiculous. Quality check is slipping at NV, you can't ask NV for compensation from their mistakes as they'll tell you to ask for a refund/replacement from your vendor. Yeah, because Amazon is seriously going to give you your money back for 1-3 empty cans or send an entire order to replace the rouge cans. Very disappointing customer service at NV, they happily send out free samples but no replacement for obvious factory duds? I paid for 24 cans not 22. EDIT: As of September and October I can no longer rate Instinct 4 stars, it's dropped to one. Being a faithful customer to Natures Variety since 2011 I've seen the inconsistencies between batches. I've seen cans come full, others quite full of gravy but moderate amounts of meat, to atrociously dented cans while the food remained intact and healthy. Whenever my little guy would eat instinct regardless of the flavor he would gobble it up. If he ever were to throw up it was his own fault for not taking it so slow. Not this time. I received packages from amazon, after my mailman lost my package once then delivered it to the wrong address, and one package had 2 rouge cans in one batch of 3 oz case of 24 chicken. One can had no label and the other was hollow! They actually delivered me a can that had no food in it but was sealed! By no means is this Amazons fault, both these batches were sealed by the factory. The other batch, a best by date of June 03,2018 had gone bad. The entire 24 cases were gray colored instead of the usual pink/brown you'd see. It had a bit of a pâté consistency. Absolutely no gravy whatsoever, and when trying to cut it up for my little guy it felt like the meat had gone bad at the factory before shipping. A very spongy texture. My cat ate a bit and had a reaction to it. He wouldn't stop licking his face and started to throw up. I figured it might have just been that one can but opening another one revealed the same thing. He refuses to eat them and would rather starve than eat that specific batch. I still had some cans from a previous shipment left over and he would happily eat those, they contain the old style of gravy/meat. I'm not sure if NV changed the formula or if this is a bad batch, but I'm willing to bet my money its a bad batch. I've sent a complaint to NV and encourage anyone else with bad batches to complain as well. Very good quality canned food. I had purchased this 3 years ago when I adopted a severely underweight kitten. This helped him recover to a healthy weight and he can't get enough of this food! The gravy may be inconsistent from batch to batch but overall should be there. The only thing I'm wondering is what caused Nature's Variety to increase the price. To the more exotic flavors I could understand but there's no shortage of beef nor chicken. Why the jumps in prices? The limited ingredients versions would be understandable but not this one. In their defense it hasn't increased exponentially to my knowledge lately, is it a union thing?

Excellent cat food
Excellent cat food! This was the first canned cat food my 17-year old cat would eat on her own after she stopped eating and was put on critical care food by the vet. She has regained her appetite, weight, energy, and personality. One of the best things I like about this food is that she doesn't vomit after eating it, which is something she has done for most of her life, no matter what food she ate. The only concern I have is that she seems to drink a lot more water since eating this food. The food itself is like typical canned cat food, which I am not fan of, but if t keeps her eating I'll tolerate it as long as she eats it. It seems to help to refrigerate it ahead of time as far as its texture goes; it seems to help its solidity. If there's one thing that they could change, I would suggest taking out the pieces of vegetables and berries, etc., and just stick with the other ingredients it would probably be even nicer, since my cat tends to not eat this part of the cat food. I do like how the first ingredient is chicken and doesn't contain any odd things that are hard to recognize and pronounce. I also like that it is grain-free, since my cat seems to be bothered by foods with grains. I am really glad I found this food and that it is available on Amazon as a subscribe and save item. It's nice that this food is available on Amazon as a subscribe and save item.

Cat Enjoys This Brand
Instinct Grain-Free Chicken Canned Cat Food by Nature's Variety (Case of 24) I recently inherited a cat whose diet consisted of dry food only. Having read that wet food might be better for her I wanted to start transitioning her into eating wet food, at least for one of her meals. I decided on the Instinct Grain-Free Chicken Canned Cat Food by Nature's Variety because she was already eating the Nature's Variety Instinct Raw Boost Grain-Free Chicken Meal Formula Dry Cat Food, and I thought that it would make for an easier adjustment. I began by replacing one portion of her dry food with the wet food and she took to it immediately. My main concern was whether or not she would have any stomach issues switching over to wet food, but she had no such problems and really enjoys it, so much so that she has seemingly stopped eating her dry food in anticipation for the wet and will now only eat the dry when she realizes she's not getting the canned food until later. The product is packaged well (you receive two 12 pack cases stacked on top of each other) and the price on Amazon is comparable to what you'd find in the Pet Stores. So far I haven't noticed the issue of quality consistency from can to can as others have mentioned, but will update this review if I come across it. The only thing that I didn't like about this product (and in the Nature's Variety products in general) is that I don't believe they put the Nutrition information on the packaging. I was trying to determine how much wet food would be adequate to replace for the dry and needed the calorie information. This is only a minor issue though as I was able to find the Nutritional information on their website. For any one else who might need the information, it seemed like the wet and dry food had a similar caloric exchange.

Finally, good wet food on first attempt
My cat loves it! I am also pleased with the ingredients and quality. There's lots of nutrients in these cans. The size is perfect as well, and soft enough to scoop out easily, without mess. He's a picky eater, and I'm so glad this switch was easy to make. He eats it all happily and without fuss.

Cat even not touching her favorite food. It’s not a chicken, but labeled chicken.
My cat eats only chicken. First level was exactly chicken and I didn’t have any problems with cat. But second level had labeled like chicken but I found two cans already which cat even not trying to eat. One can was chicken like labeled. Will see what will be with all other.

Fanastic Quality I feel SAFE feeding my new kittens.
I am a big fan of this brand as it doesn't contain unhealthy ingredients found in other cat foods. Things that a cats digestive system can't even process like potatoes or starches. My kittens love it and we will be transitioning them to the frozen food later in the year too. We order this on amazon weekly and we find that the cost is less than at the pet stores. One particular aspect of this food is that it doesn't contain careenagen to hold the product together. This has been found to cause health problems and tumors in animals and in humans. I did quite a bit of research on this after we lost our beloved kitty of 15 years to hyperthyroidism not to long ago. I was devastated and heart broken to find that "wellness" food we were feeding him may have instigated the illness. I realize aging plays a part of disease development, but it does matter what we feed our pets and I wanted to honor my special boy by feeding our new kittens something I felt safer feeding them. So this is why I give it 5 stars. I won't pretend to make the food myself and add vitamins that is not something I feel comfortable doing so if I have to rely on commercial food I choose this brand for the above reasons. I also think the price is comparable to other high costs brands, even cheaper when using amazon. Very pleased!

Good
Shipped from USA to Singapore, took about 2 weeks to arrive. Unfortunately most of it came dented, i wish they’d have added more protective layers for fragile items. Nonetheless, received in correct quantities and flavour. Have yet to try, i hope my cats will like them.
