I’ve had them in my aquariums and providing your lighting is to close to the surface you shouldn’t have any problems

Q: I purchased this water butterfly twice and it turned brown and rotten. What am I doing wrong?

I had the same problem until I changed the water, by reducing the water level by half and refilling, and then filter the pond with a water pump.

Q: This water butterfly is good in a fish tank?

You could but is bulky. Roots appear at bottom of plant which floats. You would need to keep proportional to tank by trimming it.
