Trendy solution in search of a problem?
Although we have a dishwasher, we prefer to hand wash enough items that we regularly keep something on our kitchen counter near the sink. Over the years we've used various ways to air dry those items, some made to leave out, some to fold up and store away, including a folding chromed metal rack (eventually corrodes and needs to be cleaned and polished); a foldable bamboo rack (had a light varnish that began to dry a peel off); a decorative dishtowel (got too wet and stayed wet too long), etc. Plus we had to place a dish towel under the racks or, even worse, a rubber mat that "drained" into the sink. Ugh. Too complicated and too much fuss. This item could be an improvement on all the above, but it has characteristics that make it a deal-breaker for me. I gave it four stars instead of three somewhat reluctantly, but decided although for me the cons outweigh the pros, you might arrive at a different assessment.Pros:~absorbs and releases (evaporation) an adequate amount of water dripping from rinsed dishes, pans, etc.~stylish-looking, especially in modern kitchens with granite or other kinds of "stone" countertops; it has nice, sweeping etching (see pic)~meant to be left out all the time as part of your kitchen sink area washing and cleaning accessories~large enough to hold and absorb drips from a "large" number of hand-washed itemsCons:~because it's essentially a permeable, unsealed stone product, it will become stained with colored liquids, such as coffee, fruit juices, dark fruit such as blueberries, etc. It comes with a small amount of sand paper, but that's for smoothing rough edges or removing surface debris; it won't remove stains.~it's heavy and brittle; I'm pretty sure if you accidently dropped it, or dropped a heavy pan on it, you'd have a mat in several pieces~it's hard but more like sandstone than rock hard; I wouldn't put it directly on a granite countertop. It does come with a rather thin silicon mesh non-slip pad but I would replace that with a thicker one for more protection and stability~this particular one came with a defect on one corner (see pic), such that I think it would scratch my granite countertop; I think I will be able to sand it smooth, but shouldn't have to do thatFrankly, the solution we've arrived at in our kitchen is a couple of cloth dish drying quilted pads that are thick enough to absorb as much water as we need them to, and they seem to dry out without any problems (e.g., mildew, etc.). We do leave the window over the sink open a crack to help with air circulation. The pads can be tossed in the washer / dryer periodically. We can use one or more depending on need, and they can be removed easily to clean the counters, etc. And they won't break if you drop them.

Good product, looking good on kitchen counter
Works great to dry dishes on. No stains yet after about a week’s use. Water dries fast.

Larger than most dish mats
I like the diatomaceous earth mats--a lot. I have two in the bathroom, for floor and sink, and a smaller one in the kitchen. I saw this one that was sized larger than the kitchen mats but still smaller than the bath mats and knew I had to have it.This is a nice mat with the carved design and the supplied non-slip backing pad.

Absorbs water … not quite immediately
This is a review of “Snuggery Stone Dish Drying Mat for Kitchen Counter - 18"x14"”.This is a diatomaceous earth mat that’s sold as a drying mat for dishes in the kitchen. If you’ve never used a diatomaceous earth mat before, these mats are made of a stone-like material that is quite good at absorbing water. So the use case of this mat is to have it by the kitchen sink instead of a cloth mat or laying out a towel - the diatomaceous earth mat will just absorb the water while your dishes dry.I have a few of this kind of mat for use as a bath mat near the shower, and one thing I noticed about this mat is that it’s slower at absorbing water than the ones I have in the bathrooms. Maybe it’s just a different composition than the other mats that I have. It’s not that this mat doesn’t absorb, it just seems to do it slower.Still, despite that this mat absorbs slower than some other diatomaceous earth mats I’ve used, it does the job and is far better than using a towel or non-stone mat.

Love this for keeping the counter dry!
I’ve had a mat like this as a bathmat in front of my shower for a ling time, and I love how much it helps keep things dry and clean, so it was a no-brainer for me to want to give this mat a try under the dish drying rack on my kitchen counter. It looks good and works well for absorbing excess water draining from the dishes. It keeps the area tidy and seems more hygienic than the cloth-based pad I had been using to soak up water.

Highly absorbent larger sized stone drying mat
I have the smaller version of this stone trim and wanted to get a larger sized one on my kitchen counter. because of the relative thickness of the stone, the packaging was well designed with both carport box and a air bubble padded container. It comes with a non-slip mesh mat that you can put underneath the stone, and also a abrasive sandpaper for cleaning. I wish you came with some rubber feet that you could put underneath the elevate it in case of excessive water draining. The toilet. The grey colour is exactly as shown in the product photos, and the top surface of the stone has some channels to increase a bit of surface area. The stone itself is fantastic for water absorption. Highly recommend this item. Keep your kitchen counter dry.

Modernizing My Kitchen with a Stone Drying Mat
I decided to replace the worn-out bottom of my dish rack with something fresh and contemporary. That's when I stumbled upon this intriguing and innovative stone drying mat, prompting me to give it a try.Upon arrival, the product was impressively well-packaged, safeguarded with bubble wrap to prevent any transit damage—a crucial precaution given the fragile nature of its composition, comprising 60% diatomaceous stone, 30% minerals, and 10% fiber. Its dimensions of 17.7x13.8 inches offered ample space for placing items. My initial impression was highly positive; the mat proved exceptionally absorbent, efficiently keeping the countertop dry. The manufacturer claims it can absorb up to 4 times its weight, though I haven't verified this myself. The inclusion of a non-slip mat was a thoughtful touch, ensuring stability on the countertop and preventing unwanted movement or sliding. However, the mat is prone to staining over time, especially from colored liquids like coffee or juice. It demands careful handling due to its extreme fragility; even a minor impact or accidental dish drop could lead to breakage.Maintaining the mat is straightforward—simply rinse it with water and sponge it dry. Avoid using soap for cleaning. If staining occurs, the stone surface can be lightly sanded using the provided sandpaper to restore its appearance. While the initial price may seem steep, the mat's longevity and performance make it a worthwhile investment if well-maintained. Thus far, I'm pleased with the product and would recommend it. I'll update this review if any further observations arise.

Snuggery Stone Dish Drying Mat
I was going to send this to my husband before ordering, but I thought better. I knew 100% he was going to come back and say this was dumb....so I went ahead and ordered it. You could tell he was skeptical when it arrived, but after doing the dishes last night he can't stop talking about how cool it is. I'll call that a win.Note - you need to give it a good rinse before your first use. I didn't read the instructions and started using it out of the gate and then realized a black-grey residue was coming off. Quick rinse under the sink with a dish brush (no soap!) and it's ready to go.My only complaint is the pattern. I'm not a big fan of the wavy lines, but that's 100% personal preference. The edges of the stone are beveled so if you decide to use the flat underside the edge is more blunt.

Great to Have in the Kitchen
This stone tablet is great to have in the kitchen especially having it near the sink when you are washing dishes or need to lay something wet down without having to put in on the counter or in the sink. This is a great alternative for a dish drying may if you are the type to, "clean up as you go" I am really impress with the size of this tablet giving you lots of space to use it however you want.

Very awesome
I never used one of these stone mats but always was curious about them. I didn’t think it would absorb all the water but it does. Works great, its like magic. It has a non slip bottom which is nice no need to worry about it slipping. When you first use it you have to rinse it though. It is large and holds a good amount of dishes. Definitely improved out kitchen experience.
