Brut Original by Faberge for Men 3.3 oz After Shave Pour

If you’re of a certain age, you already know what this smells like, even if you’ve never personally used it. And that’s not a bad thing. After collecting fragrances over the past year, Brut is, in my opinion, the greatest men’s fragrance of all time. I’d forgotten how much I genuinely loved it, until I purchased a bottle of this aftershave (mostly out of irony). It’s a unique combination of sweet, citrus, and musk, with an anise note that makes it unlike anything else out there. It’s no secret that reformulations over the decades have toned this down dramatically from its peak. It’s still Brut, still great, but definitely with less oak moss and anise - at least, in the US version. But here’s where it gets interesting… Depending on where in the world you live, Brut is owned by different companies, and the formulations seem to vary. Whereas the US version is more powdery and synthetic (than I remember), the European version (featuring green liquid in a glass bottle and made by Unilever), is *much* closer to what I remember. It’s deeper, with more emphasis on the moss and anise notes, and definitely much less synthetic. And the fragrance isn’t overwhelming. All that to say, if you’re ready to try - or reintroduce - Brut aftershave into your life, start with this version. The glass bottle is fantastic and the price is about the same as the US version. The alcohol gives my skin just enough “snap” without being too much. It’s one of the best aftershaves out there. In a world full of aquatic, shower gel fragrances, stand out by stepping back in time and using something truly unique - even if you can buy it at CVS and Walmart… And if this works for you, I’d also recommend seeking out the rest of the European variants not sold in the US (Musk, Sport Style, Oceans, Energy, and Attraction Totale). They’re all good, easily found online, and mostly very affordable. If you’re looking for something more modern, Brut Oceans is probably a safe bet… Ultimately, it’s Brut. It’s nostalgic, it’s unique, and it’s fantastic. I’d bet if you’ve read this far, you already know that you’re going to like it. Time to give this classic fragrance a new try!

Absolutely a must have if you like Brut aftershave. The scent is just a little different from the U.S. version. Not so "in your face". The scent lasts all day as well. Perfect if you are going to be out for an evening and dont want your aftershave to arrive 10 steps ahead of you.

Good after shaving with nice smell

Very good aftershave, but sold without VAT, at a price two and a half times higher than in France where 20% VAT is included. So in the end, the price is prohibitive, even though the product itself is perfect.

The fragrance of this version of Brut is very, very light - but it is still pleasant. (It is the UK version and I knew that going in) That said, I am deducting all couple of points because the packaging it came in was yellowed and torn, just loosely surrounding the bottle, top and bottom unfastened. Absolutely no damage on the Amazon box it came in, no sign of mistreatment there. So it was packed damaged. I don’t know how it didn’t leak given the fact it was unsealed. Could have been watered down or something as far as I know - maybe that’s why it so light.

I purchased this for my husband for Christmas. I looooooooove the smell of Brut. Always have, always will and just hope it is forever on the market for sale.
