I had previously ordered the Mac version of this doc for my Mac setup, and I was so happy with it, that I ordered ordered this dock for my windows (work) setup. It is every bit as nice as the Mac version, so I’m going to leave this very similar review, at the risk of being redundant. This is really a beautiful and functional dock. (Unlike my Dell dock, which sat on the floor under my desk, and is now getting thrown away). I'm not going to get into the features, because you can learn about those easily enough from the Amazon description, but rather, I just want to say what really impressed me about the dock. Nor, am I really posting photos of the dock itself, because it's not necessary. It looks just like it does in the amazon photos. Let's start with first impressions. The box and packaging are very nice, compact and efficient and it feels like quality. I would compare the packaging to any Apple product I've purchased. This dock did not come in a felt-like bag like the Mac version, but since it cost a lot less, I’m personally totally fine with that. It's not really a big issue for me, because I throw away that stuff after the set up, but if I were buying this dock as a gift for somebody, I'd be happy knowing THEY were gonna be impressed when they opened it up. If you need them, the instructions are simple and straight forward, but the unit is plug and play, so again, no big deal. I was very happy to NOT have to download display drivers for this unit. (Just one less step.). HOWEVER, I did have an issue setting it up for my 2 4K monitors. (The 1080p monitors were no trouble at all.). To avoid this issue, make sure your laptop supports DSC or Display Stream Compression. Ultimately, mine did but it required me to make a phone call to my IT department to adjust some setting on the lap top. Which brings me to a comment about TobenOne’s customer support. A simple email to them started the conversation to resolve my monitor issue, and their customer support is fantastic. They are very knowledgeable about their product, prompt, concise, and very polite and helpful. I sent them photos of my setup, and screen shots about the laptop’s capabilities, and they identified the problem immediately. They really were a pleasure to work with. But I digress. What I really like about this dock, is the weight and the feel of the product. It feels well made, not flimsy or cheap. It is a solid anchor for the laptop to sit on top of the unit. The flip up tabs are substantial, and well built. The rubber feet on the dock and the tabs keep a firm grip on the Laptop. The laptop does not move around easily on top of the dock, which is nice and feels solid. The dock is also pretty much completely hidden under the Dell Laptop that I use for work. The power button on the side, and the card slots on the side are not as easily accessible as front mounted slots. But since the laptop is sitting on top of the unit, that would not be an option, and since those features are not an everyday utility for me, it's not an issue. I do like having a power button to turn off the dock, to shut down the peripherals, but the laptop continues to charge. If you are concerned about battery memory, and leaving your laptop plugged in all the time, just unplug the host cable. I'm also happy about the 3.5mm audio port. The sound was excellent through a pair of 3.5mm headphones, which I wear during zoom meetings to block out outside noise. Sure I could plug them into the laptop as well, but that is the POINT of having the dock. To be able to pull one plug and run with the laptop. Two last points. First, I ran a speed test to make sure the ethernet cable was delivering the speed I was paying my ISP for. (if you do this, turn off wifi first). I have a cat 6. Cable plugged into the dock. Download registered at 738.2mbps and upload registered at 28.4mbps. Obviously, superfast, and very nice. But I am happy to know the dock is not impeding the speed I'm paying for. Secondly, I'm happy it has a security lock option on it. I'm using it at home, for now, but I am going to bring it to my office and I am DEFINITELY locking it up, because I would be very sad if it grew legs. Final thoughts, This is a beautiful, functional and quality built dock for my Dell Laptop, and much nicer than the brick Dell dock that work gave me. I feel like the price point is well worth the quality of the build and the function and features. The only suggestion I would make to a buyer considering one, is make a list of what you what to plug into it, to ensure it has enough ports for the devices on your list, and pay attention to the type of port your devices require. If your list matches up with the ports the device offers, buy this thing. It's well worth it.

Before you buy make sure your machine is compatible with DP Alt Mode. Pros: The overall aesthetic is great. I love that the ports are on the back and the card slots are on the side. It is organized in a very easy to use and understandable manner. The legs that lift up to give the laptop space to breath are very tight and not wiggly. They grip perfectly so the laptop doesn't slide. The ports all do exactly what they say they will do. Even the 10Gbps USB ports hit at the advertised speeds. I've tested this on thumb drives, external M2 drives, and 3.5 inch drives. All work perfectly within their own individual limits. The setup was easy. The Ethernet port also worked for me the first time. I've typically had problems with other docks not picking up my internet signal very well or dropping out. This is a solid constant connection. I'm getting the full 1Gbps bandwidth that I pay for through this port. I am connecting the HDMI ports to a 2K and a 4K monitor made by HP. Before I connected this dock, I frequently changed the resolution on my 4K down to 2K which always made words and numbers just a little fuzzy. When I connect to this dock and did the same resolution drop it stayed crisp and there was no trace of fuzziness. I don't know what magic they did with the ports to make this happen, but I love it. I've worked on code, watched videos, and gamed at 144 MHz on my gaming monitor with this dock. All of my different uses look beautiful through this dock. Cons: Nothing really. If I had to nitpick I have a USB-C KVM that I switch between my laptop and desktop. I was hoping to connect it to the dock so I could switch no matter which laptop was on the dock. They don’t see each other. I don’t know if it’s a dock thing or KVM thing. Not a big deal though. I mentioned it to TobenOne and they took it serious and would look to see if they could expand compatibility. Overall Thoughts: I am a web programmer, and I use many different laptops and desktops between work and home use. I have been through many different docks in the past and have always felt that they just don't do the things I really need them to do 100%. This dock accomplishes what they couldn't. I absolutely love it. The dock is wonderful, well built, and completely functional in such a way that I have intentions to never replacing it unless it dies.

I have bought a LOT of docking stations over the years. Names brands like Plugable and Anker. Generic brands with alphahash names. Some work. Some overheat. Many wear out (probably heat). Some work better on work laptop (Windows. Bleah) and some are better on Linux or Macs (Linux seems to support them all). This one replaces one that kept overheating and failing on the work computers (Windows). The other one lasted no time at all before it started dying, but it is working fine on a Mac now with only 1 monitor attached, so it probably couldn't handle the dual-monitor setup for work. This one lives under the work Lenovo T41, and while it is warm, it is not hot. It has never failed, and it drives a 4k and a 2.5k monitor without issue. A ton of other things are attached, like a webcam, a Jabra headset dongle, and external USB cords for attaching things like a work iPhone, etc. Never acts at all stressed. I like that this one hides under the laptop and saves me desktop space, too. One cord connects the laptop to the desk ecosystem, so it's easy to unplug and toss it in a backpack if need be. Its power brick can live in the backpack since this dock keeps the laptop charged (USB-C!!!!) For fun, I attached this to my iPad Pro M4 once to see what the iPad would do with it. Everything showed up, but the limitations of iPadOS reared their head as it drove both monitors in mirror mode. The iPad saw the Jabra and could drive it, which was nice. Also meant the iPad could see the USB devices on the Dock. So: looks pretty compatible with stuff outside Windows-Wonderland.

I'll start with the good. It has a lot of ports. I was trying for a triple monitor setup with a hard drive attached. I can get it with this dock. When it decides to work it is quite a caplable dock, except one thing. Now to the cons The DisplayPort doesn't work at all. I tried it with every combination of monitors, and even alone to check my setup. It just doesn't work. The HDMI ports sometimes decide to go on strike as well. The only solution I've been able to find any success with is power cycling and plug/unplug until it decides to work. I've gotten a triple monitor out with other docks so it's not my laptop. I'd love this dock, if it worked properly. Update: The problems started to work themselves out. Make sure you use proper cables as well. Good dock, has it's issues.

Excellent functionality in a compact package. This dock has everything you need to keep your desktop clean and efficient. I’m able to connect two HDMI monitors plus use my laptop screen at the same time. If you prefer, you can also use the DisplayPort instead of HDMI. Both the display output and power delivery work exactly as advertised, with no hiccups. There are plenty of high-speed USB-C and USB-A ports for connecting devices. Since the dock provides its own power, I can even add a USB hub if needed. My Mac stays fully charged while in use, which is a huge plus. I recently moved cross-country, and this dock was ready to get me up and running right away. For the money, you can’t beat the convenience and connectivity this unit offers. I’m not a gamer, but I put heavy demands on my equipment with CAD design and infrastructure management, and this dock has performed flawlessly. Highly recommended — you won’t be disappointed.
