A History of VOGUE KNITTING Magazine
This is a lovely coffee table book that recounts the history of VOGUE KNITTING magazine, commencing with its Fall/Winter 1982 re-launch. The VK editors have selected one or more popular patterns from most issues, and accompany the model photograph of each pattern with a few paragraphs that explain the editors' thinking at the time. For example, alongside Joan Vass' "Tape Tee" design [p.94]: "Sheen and sheer were the watchwords for Spring/Summer '98, as VK took the show back on the road to Miami Beach's Eden Roc Resort, where much of this breezy issue was photographed. . . . The 'sheen' came from . . . ribbon yarns. . . . The 'sheer' came from a collection of peekaboo lace . . . ." There are 18 patterns from the 1980s, 19 patterns from the 1990s, and 38 patterns from the 2000s. Complete pattern instructions are included, reprinted as they originally appeared in VK (without updating for modern sizing, or any specific suggestions for currently available yarns; although the schematics, yarn weights, and gauge information make it easy for today's knitters to use the patterns.)Paging through the selections, knitters are reminded of the role that VK has always played in promoting hand knits as fashion. In the 1980s, VK published designs by Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, and Norah Gaughan; in the 1990s, designs by Donna Karan, Adrienne Vittadini, and Missoni; in the 2000s, designs by Oscar de la Renta, Debbie Bliss, Michael Kors, and Kaffe Fassett. These are only a few of the famous designers represented in this book. Name-designer patterns are easily located by using the excellent Index.Because this book is (1) expensive, (2) directed at a limited audience (fashion and knitting history buffs), and (3) basically a collection of previously published vintage and not-so-vintage patterns, I rate it at 3.75 stars, rounded up to 4 stars. It is a beautiful book with many full-color photographs, and should be a welcome gift for many knitters, especially long-time, serious knitters. For those interested in knitting fashion history, another very good book is Sandy Black's Knitwear in Fashion .

Spectacular!
This fabulous book has some of the most beautiful designs I've ever seen! Although my knitting skills aren't nearly as advanced as my crochet skills, I am SO inspired to take on the knitting creativity challenge. Gorgeous photography and detailed instructions throughout. I cannot fathom the negative reviews. Absolutely love. Highly recommend.

You will enjoy this book. Patterns and Histroy all in one.
A Historical look at Vogue magazine with patterns from the beginning of the printing of the magazine. It shows the patterns and the way they have changed and updated older patterns. Very Interesting.

Leider Einband eingerissen

Worth every penny
Lots to choose from in this well-priced pattern book. This is a collection of Vogue patterns stretching back several decades: most are timeless and would fit right into 2016 but a few of the selections have a more dated appearance and are thus less inspiring. Great full colour pages and multiple views of the completed garments make it easy to see how each item would look from all angles. Graphs as well as informative text offer the knitter good support. The patterns are also graded as to skill level and there is a good balance of novice and experienced patterns available. Even a few crocheted patterns are added to this book! Featuring designers like Oscar de la Renta and Rebecca Taylor who still enjoy the spotlight today, this excellent hardcover book will hold up well to repeated use and worth the investment.

Esta bastante bien
Tiene prendas muy bonitas pero le falta una foto de la prenda en plano. Y si hubiese edición en español mejor. Todas aparecen con sus patrón o explicación
