You do get the 399 feeder, not the 480 garden song as pictured under "Product Description." This is our second one (for backup if the first should break). Amazing. Never had so many goldfinches and the sparrows have given up trying to figure it out.

Question 2

I have a problem with pigeons in my backyard. If I get this will pigeons be able to eat from this or will it keep them away? I only want finches lol!

Pigeons are unable to eat from this. They don't even act interested in it. Other birds such as other finches or sparrows will come but can't figure out the upside down thing, ONLY goldfinches can eat from this feeder.......that being said, I never knew there were so many n the area.

Question 3

When used with finch seeds do a lot of the seeds fall to the ground? I am unhappy with the socks because they waste a lot of seed.

I don't find a lot of the seed on the ground. The openings are small slits and the seed has to be pulled from the feeder. Currently I have two finches and one chickadee that visit on a regular basis and the seed level does not drop quickly. My last feeder was flimsy and the squirrels destroyed it in a weekend. I hung this one in a higher tree away from my regular feeders and nothing has bothered it.

Question 4

How do you train the finches to find the hole?  They sit on the perch peck for the spot at eye level and fly away when they can't find it.

The yellow finches are drawn to the type of feeder and have no problem in locating the hole, other finches need the upright type feeder......Most feeder come with both type perches, but the upside down feeder don't......Hold in  there the yellow finches will come.........
