UPDATE: skip this! The wax doesn’t burn down. I’ve tried thicker wicks, smaller containers, everything to make it work. I end up with tiny flames and having to melt the wax out of the containers in the oven to throw it away. A waste of time and money. This powder candle kit is crafting for people who like results without the mess. It comes with everything you need to make your own candle. Just position the wicks, pour the sand, trim the wicks and light! Tah-dah!!! Warning: opening the bucket is a full-body workout. I actually had to grab a box cutter to break in. (If anyone returns this, it’s probably because of that lid!). Once inside, all the little accessories were packed amongst the sand, so I had to go treasure-hunting to find them and every little baggy had sand inside it. It got a little messy. The wax itself looks gray at first but melts into black(ish). If you’re thinking it’s going to be true goth black (because that’s what the photo implies) you may be disappointed. No scent, but I added a little essential oil and that seemed to do a little something. Overall, it was SUPER EASY and genuinely fun. DIY for the impatient and the easily distracted. I think it will be a good value in the long run. Final verdict: super cute, unexpectedly satisfying, and perfect for turning any random container into a chic candle moment.

I'll start with 5 stars... Package just arrived. Haven't used it yet but thanks to all of the reviews I read through before ordering I was prepared with my hack saw, chisel and blow torch to open the bucket. Okay not really but I knew it wasn't going to be easy. I ended up using my needle nose pliers and plied to ring up all around the edges and then opened it. It was still a struggle but much easier than trying to do it the way they show in the video. That won't work! I also was very careful extracting the supplies from the bucket. What I wasn't prepared for was all of the particles that got under my nails. I should have worn gloves. Even though it was a challenging to open I appreciate the fact that it was sealed tightly. I can't imagine how this would be usable if it spilled out in the box it was shipped in. I'll update later after using the product.

The beads did come clumped together and the tub is only about 3 or four small candles worth but overall I think it’s ok, definitely invest in new wicks though, these ones burn out in an hour or less.

Burns clean. Melted easily not sure if the price is good comparatively. I used this as is in a large bowl with wicks. Melted heavily around the wick and often burned out the wick. I recommend cutting the wick long. Leaves a ring of melted wax around the wick. Not the mist cost effective candle but looks great.

Gets quite lumpy so need to keep on breaking it up
