used it right away!
Got my package in a timely matter. It was packaged well and the starter was sealed nicely. The instructions were much appreciated. I fed it that night and the next morning the starter (at least) doubled in size. I was originally planning to wait to bake but since it rose so good I decided to right away! Pictured is my loaves from the next day. This starter helped make beautiful bread! It smells good and tastes even better. It’s extra bubbly and alive! Fruit flies infiltrated my last starter so I threw it out. I thought that one was alive and well but this one is definitely way more active. Thank you, I highly recommend.

A must buy.
Amazing yeast. Seriously. I paired it with Italian ported Semolina and my first loaf was pretty great. In fact this was supposed to be discard but there was so much, i made it into bread. The yeast wan’t fully awake from shipping, but I decided to try anyway. Let it proof for 6 hours, shaped and refrigerated 12 hours. Baked out of fridge and was impressed by the loaf. Next one with fully active yeast will be even better.

Fun Way to Get Started Making Sourdough at Home
Starting sourdough completely from scratch takes patience, so having an established starter gives you a nice head start. There's still some learning involved with feeding schedules, temperature and figuring out when the starter is ready, but that's part of making sourdough. I also like that you aren't limited to bread. Once you have an active starter going, you can experiment with pizza dough, waffles and other recipes instead of throwing away excess starter. For beginners, I think much more detailed instructions would make the product better. A simple day-by-day guide explaining what the starter should look and smell like would remove a lot of guesswork. Once you get into the routine, though, it's a fun baking project.

A Starter That Actually Starts!
I picked up this Living Dough starter, followed the directions, and—miraculously—it woke up and did exactly what it was supposed to do. No drama. No sourdough tantrums. Just bubbles, rise, and that yeasty enthusiasm you hope for in a starter. Honestly, I’m impressed. As someone easing into the sourdough game (aka the carb cult), having a reliable starter is everything. Sourdough is a bit of a time commitment, so it’s crucial to start with something that won’t ghost you after Day 2. Living Dough delivered. I’ll probably end up trying more of their starters as I spiral deeper into this floury rabbit hole. Bonus points: Joe (the person behind it all) is super active on social media and actually responds—in a friendly, helpful, non-robotic way. That kind of positivity goes a long way when your dough looks like a science experiment gone wrong. Highly recommend!

Delicious
I love this starter. The bread and pizza dough that I made with it is delicious. I gave some starter to my sister (a few weeks later) and she loves it too. I would def buy this again.

**UPDATED REVIEW** Arrived unsealed
Arrived unsealed with less than 0.5”” of starter. Smelled rotten! **UPDATE** The owner Joe took the time to write me a very detailed message explaining the product and how it is pressure sealed & not to be alarmed if there is no visible/additional plastic around the outside to give the illusion of safety or sealing. He also mentioned there is a gasket under the lid and as long as there was no leakage, it would not of been compromised. As far as the smell, he also educated me on the product does not expire if the seal holds, and that he only uses fresh organic flour and spring water. In addition, the 0.5" of starter can rise/fall during transit - in some cases the volume of the 2 oz can fill the entire container. Thank you Joe for explaining how your product works, and for the replacement at no charge. Very pleased with the customer service.
