Decibel Meter, 30-130dB Digital Sound Level Meter with LCD Display

The biggest usability flaw is the battery compartment. Most devices with AAA batteries are designed so you insert them negative end first (flat side against the spring). This makes loading intuitive: the spring compresses smoothly, and the positive terminals naturally seat against the flat contacts. This meter does the opposite...you have to insert them positive end first. That means you're constantly fighting the spring while trying to align and seat the batteries. It turns a 10-second task into an awkward, fiddly process where batteries slip, the spring gets compressed at an angle, and you often have to wrestle them into place. It's a small detail, but it's one of those "why did they do it this way?" moments that makes the device feel unnecessarily cheap and poorly thought out every time you change the batteries.

Seems fine for the most part. A few quibbles: The battery compartment is held with a screw which is a bit inconvenient. Also, I don't think the display has a backlight, which is fine, except that the small LCD's that displays the operating status are so bright that they drown out the readout screen when the unit is used in low light. The foam windscreen is loose and falls off if the unit is pointed downward. All easy fixes not counting having to have a screwdriver handy to change the batteries. One more thing, to calibrate the device, you have to set the source to 94 dB which begs the question how to know if your source is at 94 dB without a accurate decibel meter? The solution is easy, simply turn up the source until your ears just barely start to bleed, then you'll know your close. Really, 94 dB is incredibly loud and will damage your hearing without protection. (and I don't mean a condom) Good luck.

Pretty disappointed I turned it on and it seemed to work and then when I went to use it I could turn it on and leave it in a pretty much silent area and it won't go below 53.1 dba

I am not sure how well this works. I tested it against our furnace, which sounds like a jet plane taking off, and it registered as normal sound level. I forget what dB it showed and the furnace is off for the summer.

Arrivato puntualmente e completo di istruzioni in cofanetto di cartone. La prima impressione è buona,: lo strumento è leggerissimo, essendo neanche 17cm in lunghezza e 2,5cm in larghezza è assolutamente compatto. Questo fonometro ricorda vagamente un cercafase digitale, sicuramente è maneggevole e facile da trasportare, nella parte inferiore monta una clip adatta al fissaggio per tasche o cintura; il vano batterie è immediatamente sotto la clip, chiuso da una vite a impronta Phillips. Il display è ben visibile e di facile interpretazione, tutte le funzioni si gestiscono con appena tre pulsanti. Inserire le batterie (tipo AAA) è stato tutt'altro che pratico, in quanto lo spazio nel vano è davvero poco e bisogna spingere a fondo la pila mentre si inserisce l'altra che in apparenza quasi non passa; effettuata questa operazione è necessario provvedere alla calibrazione come da istruzioni, operazione molto semplice e veloce; una volta attivo e calibrato è possibile utilizzarlo in tre differenti modalità,: in modalità FAST (veloce), il sensore campiona il segnale 8 volte al secondo, in modalità SLOW (lento) campiona 1 volta al secondo, mentre in modalità MAX campiona e indica la registrazione più alta effettuata. Il microfono è di tipo electret ed è un particolare tipo di microfono a condensatore, basato su un elettrete. Il range di misurazione è limitato a un range compreso tra 30 dB e 130 dB con un'elevata precisione di ±1,5 dB, frequenza da 31,5Hz a 8KHz. Il display segnala l'eventuale necessità di sostituire le batterie e sono presenti du luci di segnalazione che segnalano un suono di intensità inferiore a 60dB (luce verde) o superiore a 60dB (luce rossa). Inutile dire che questo articolo si presta a molti tipi di impiego e grazie alle sue funzioni offre la possibilità di raccogliere dati specifici in base alle esigenze. Ho fatto qualche esperimento per verificarne la coerenza e sono rimasto soddisfatto, lasciandolo attivo ho ottenuto gli stessi valori in dB campionando gli stessi brani più volte; sicuramente è uno strumento utile e pratico, considerato il costo è anche conveniente.

Geweldig, zeer tevreden over deze decibel meter. Het enige klaagpuntje is dat de batterij moet worden vervangen d.m.v. een schroefje los te draaien voordat het klepje los komt.. das niet gebruiksvriendelijk, he?!..

Soy una persona muy curiosa y en muchas ocasiones me preguntaba cuántos decibelios emitía algunas de las cosas que tengo en casa o incluso como amante del motor también quería saber por el equipo de música o el ruido del motor pero en otras ocasiones cuando miraba precios se me iban muchísimo. Pero en este caso el precio no era un problema y la verdad que costando tan poco tampoco no me esperaba que funcionase tan bien. En el packaging además del sonómetro nos vienen incluidas unas pilas, cosa que se agradece y mucho y un libro de instrucciones aunque el funcionamiento es muy básico. Mide en un rango de 30 a 130 decibelios, dispone también de lectura en modo rápido y modo lento aunque el modo rápido no entiendo muy bien para que es por qué no se ven casi ni los números.
