After Trying Several Natural Deodorants, This Is the One We Keep Buying
I was looking for a healthier deodorant for my kids that was aluminum free, paraben free, and made with ingredients I felt good about. Finding one that was EWG Verified was important to me, and I also wanted something that was easy to reorder on Amazon without spending a fortune. Before this, we tried several other natural deodorants. Native left my daughter feeling itchy, Just Ingredients caused a rash, and while Tom's of Maine Free Style Wicked Cool worked well, I wasn't completely sold on the fragrance. This one has been the best fit for our family. My 10-year-old daughter has been using the Lavender scent, and my 9-year-old son has been using the Tea Tree scent. Both have been using them for about three months with the same results. We live in a warm climate, and my kids spend a lot of time outside riding bikes and playing. They each apply it once in the morning, and it keeps odor under control all day. Since it's a deodorant rather than an antiperspirant, I wasn't expecting it to stop sweating—just control odor—and it has done exactly that. Both sticks glide on smoothly without feeling sticky, waxy, or gritty. Neither has left white marks or stains on their clothes, and neither child has experienced itching, redness, or irritation. The Lavender scent smells like real lavender and is stronger right after application before becoming much more subtle throughout the day. The Tea Tree scent has a fresh, clean scent that also fades after application and isn't overpowering. I do wish the company offered a few more scent options, especially a floral scent, since both of my kids have been happy with the formula itself. One thing I appreciate is that the ingredient list is fairly simple. It uses baking soda and zinc ricinoleate for odor control instead of aluminum, which was one of the reasons I decided to give it a try. After trying several natural deodorants, this is the one we've had the most success with. It's reasonably priced, easy to reorder on Amazon, and has worked well enough that we'll continue buying it.

A natural deodorant that works!
I bought this deodorant after finding it on the Environmental Working Group's website as one of their top non-toxic deodorants. Admittedly, I was a little apprehensive about how well it would work but it works really well. I have been using it for over 2 months and I haven't had any issues with it. The floral fragrance is not over powering and I love that it is free from scary ingredients, including aluminum. I will definitely buy this again for myself and my teen daughter.

Works well enough, smell isn't very floral, but that's good because fragrance is an irritant anyway
I've only used it about 3 times but I did seem to sweat less, I work at a theme park in 95 degrees so this is good. Smell is a very subtle floral with no discernable flower scent (I mean specefically, like rose) but doesn't smell bad either. Melts easily in heat so wouldn't recommend taking it with you outside in the summer. One star off for the fact that the turner doesn't work, it came all the way up the tube and I can't put it back down. Not ruined and still usable though

FINALLY, one that WORKS!!!
Edit July 2025 This is my second time purchasing the deodorant and this time it did not work; it did not mask the odor at all! I used Purely Great under one arm, and another brand on the other. By mid day, the arm using Purely Great had body odor, the arm with the other brand had no odor. Very disappointed because the first time I purchased it a year or so ago it worked! 1st review: Hooray!!!! I am soooooo thrilled to finally find a non toxic, aluminum free deodorant! For the past 2 decades, I've tried pretty much 'all' the major healthy aluminum free and not anyone of them worked for me with stopping odor. Used this for a week or more now and have experienced ziltch odor!! If anything changes after my trip to the Caribbean where it's more humid and hot, I will update this post. I am THRILLED to finally have found one and I recommend it to others! Jun 20 Edit for continuation: I'm back from the Caribbean and it was 102-104 w heat index ...VERY humid and happy to report this deodorant worked!! Underarms did not sweat and zero odor! I found my brand :-)

Did not work at all for me, returned
The deodorant did not work at all for me at all. It was like no deodorant was applied. Used as directed, it went on dry with no residue. The stick is average size. Returned.

Just didn't work for me
It smells like lavender, is totally natural, and goes on so easily. Maybe it is my body chemistry, but I was stinky halfway through the day. It definitely worked as an antiperspirant, but my body odor drove me nuts. I was worried about who I offended. I wanted it to work, but it didn't keep away the stink.

Love it!
I have been using this product for about a month now. I wanted to really test it out before sharing a review. My honest opinion: it does work really well and the scent is quite lovely without being too overwhelming. I did need to reapply during the day as I find the scent isn’t strong enough to cover up BO. What I like the most about it, is that it works so good for underneath the breasts. For all the big breasted women out there that also struggle with boob sweat, this product is amazing! I used to have a little bit of irritation under my breasts and after using this brand, it’s all gone. The scent last longer underneath my breasts compared to under my armpits. I will definitely buy again.

Too Strong of a Scent for Me, but Great Ingredients!
I was really excited to try this deodorant since it uses EWG verified ingredients and is free from harsh chemicals, is aluminum-free, and vegan which are all big selling points for me. However, when I opened it, the lavender scent was incredibly strong and earthy—much stronger than I expected. I am sensitive to some fragrances and this unfortunately wasn’t a good fit for me, but if you enjoy strong, natural scents, it might work better for you. I can't speak to its effectiveness since I didn't actually try it, but I do appreciate the natural and clean ingredients. The packaging is made of plastic, which I find more practical compared to other cardboard ones because it doesn't peel apart or get affected if it gets wet. Overall, this could be a really good product but if you're looking for something with a lighter fragrance, this may not be the best choice.

Works well for me.
Previously, I used Speed Stick or some other big brand depending on price at the time my old deodorant would be close to finishing. However, my wife and her friend were talking about natural deodorants a few months back and her friend was saying something about her husband's friend being diagnosed with cancer under his armpits (I didn't realize that was possible). Thankfully, he beat the cancer, but mentioned something about not being able to use deodorant during treatment and couldn't wait to start using deodorant again. My wife's friend was like "Are you nuts?". This guy was apparently surprised and asked meekly, "So, I shouldn't use brand name deodorants?". Wife's friend answered with a "Duh!". So what does this story have to do with this product? Well, apparently, the big brands are loaded with cancer causing chemicals. My wife did some research and purchased another of Purelygreat's deodorants. However, I saw that process of stirring a stick in a jar before applying the deodorant confusing. So instead, she recommended I get this instead. According to her, this deodorant passed some skin care database or something. Frankly, I didn't understand what she meant, but not wanting to drag out the conversation about deodorant while not wanting to put harmful chemicals on my armpits, I bought one of these. It looks like the regular deodorant sticks I normally use. I'm good with that. First thing. I don't smell sweaty during the day. I've checked a few times when I felt sweaty especially during the plus 30 degree days we've been having. I don't smell like a guy in the middle of a 10k. Second thing. I like the smell of tea tree. It's been a while since I've used tea tree products. It's nice. Third thing. This deodorant doesn't go on dry. However, it's not the wet and sloppy one either. It's more in between. I've used both in the past. I don't have a preference. It's something to keep in mind if you like dry deodorant (where you can touch it and snap your fingers immediately) or wet deodorant (where you touch it, try to snap your fingers, and send deodorant gel flying in someone's face). Overall, I like this deodorant.

Very Strong Smell
I bought the lavender deodorant. I've decided to go on a health journey and use products that are better for my skin and body. My first impression of this deodorant is that the smell is very strong, I wish it wasn't so strong. I've also used antiperspirant my whole life so switching to deodorant was an adjustment for me. Antiperspirant stops you from sweating, therefore there is no smell, until it wears off. Deodorant doesn't stop you from sweating, it just tries to mask the smell. Therefore the smell of you mixes with the smell of the deodorant and then you get a whole other smell. Not sure if all deodorants are like this or if it's just me. Good luck!!

Doesn't Work!
I had been wearing Native unscented for years but they stopped shipping to Canada and living in a small town I can't find it and it is hard to find online. Purelygreat deoderant's only redeeming quality is that it goes on smooth. It has not been hot and I have just doing desk work and visiting so not working up a sweat ... but this deoderant is not doing it's job. It has a peculiar odor for being unscented ... and between that and the sweat odour I am not confident wearing it in public. It has also left an oily film on a brand new top. I will be looking for Native unscented somewhere else regardless of the price.
