Great buy for small live trap
I’ve used this trap several times, it’s very easy to use. I’m back today buying another think I bought the first one 3-4 years ago. Hasn’t even got a speck of rust and does exactly what it’s supposed to every time. Great way to catch critters and release them safely.Size Small perfect for mice, rats chipmunks, flying squirrels in my case. List goes on. Great buy

CHEAPER can be BETTER ! Updated to 2nd purchase...
HURRY UP AND BUY ! For the price it's a great deal. I researched for HOURS X MANY late nights to find the best possible deal. I found one that was about 10.00 more because I liked the reviews and then I found this one that was much cheaper. I figured it would b a cheap back up and I was curious considering the price difference if it would hold up to the more pricier one.The difference: The more expensive one was bit bigger and cage seemed a bit sturdier. The trigger mechanism was almost too touchy and would deploy b4 I could finish bating it. Because u have to put the bait at the far end of cage away from the door (where the trigger plate is) u practically have to hold ur breathe while slowly, steadily reaching in the cage to bait it and then back out without touching any part of the cage. Gets REALLY frustrating after the 3rd try. Then as ur pulling ur arm out of the cage, Slow n steady u have to use ur other hand to hold the 2 trigger arms on the outside and other side of cage together until you're arm is completely out of cage. Like a game of operation. Those arms are really sensitive too. I had to file those 2 arms down to adjust the sensitivity. It WILL deploy with a TINY tap and the landscaper even set it off with a leaf blower from about a 20ft away.**Now back to THIS item. The cage is a bit more light weight gauge BUT with any cage/trap u HAVE to check it every day otherwise any rodent will chew right thru them (escape or defeat) and that's where most ppl screw up and them blame it on the manufacturing. This has a better trap mechanism which is much easier to set and once deployed it seemed to reinforce the door keeping the door closed and locked down. I didn't need the patience to set this trap compared to the more expensive one. I would definitely recommend that u buy this one as its about 1/2 the price or 2fer 1 deal, right? The set up is better, easier and cheaper. It definitely does the job and that's all u really need. Save some money and hit the buy now button. I already did the research for you. Ther longer you wait... well u know. The more you have to set traps over and over again.Updated 1.10.19-This trap is totally worth it. Like I said earlier... U MUST check them periodically. I set in the evening and check in the morning. So far every time I have the put it out I have a cute but "property destroyer" sitting in the cage bright and early n the am its like clockwork. This is the BEST one by far, out of 4 different traps that I purchased. I really like that they are "LIVE CATCH" so that I do not need to worry about harming the cute critter (squirrels) but that I can release it FAR FAR AWAY.The ONLY ISSUE is that they use a thin gauge wire for the caging, making it easier to chew thru. I can't say it enough...check the cage frequently.Besides that small guage a critter FINALLY was able to chew a hole through it. HOWEVER... i am buying another today hence my updated review. Changing review to 5* .My average with this cage n the last 6 months 10/10 and counting. All catch & release. Very pleased considering 1 acre and full of wildlife. Can't bare the thought of putting them out but sending them on a vacation far far away, I can do that easily... now just need a better means of transporting them.

Works great, perfect size for small creatures
We used this humane trap for a little baby possum that got into our house somehow. It would be tight for a full grown possum, but for the little baby possum it was the perfect size. The trap sprung easily and quietly, and the little critter was not harmed. In fact, after a meal of raisins and catfood, he's at the wildlife rescue center with other orphan babies. It's well made, and the price was great. 100% would buy again.

Very good trap, almost perfect. Medium is good for rats and mice.
This trap is VERY easy to use and it's all metal mesh so it holds up well. I've even stored it outside for a while with no rust or wear. This trap is simple. You put the bait near the back. You then point the trigger arm forwards and lift the locking bar while opening the door. Trust me, it's easier than it sounds. Once you do it once, you'll understand. If you need to work around the trap without it going off on you, you can actually lock the trigger mechanism so it will not easily trigger on you.The trigger mechanism is similar to the wooden mouse traps, so it flips really fast. The trap itself isn't meant to kill but there's a chance the door will slam on the rat's tail but it probably won't break the tail. This trap triggers super fast, If I had to guess, it's less than a second.Once it's triggered, there is actually a kind of handle that sticks up so 1) you can see that it's been triggered and 2) you can use it to carry your trap away. SUPER convenient!!!The only reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is because of the locking sliding piece. It relies 100% on gravity. Meaning 1) if the trap tips over then the lock is not as secure and 2) it falls at the speed of gravity. It's super fast for humans but not too fast for rodents! I've had traps trigger but the rodent quickly turned around and fled before the door was closed and locked. Also, the door closes before the lock is actually all the way down so I've had a rat burst through the door! it was crazy to watch (on camera). I have a cheap fix for this though. I got a large rubber band and hook it on one corner of the door and then looped it around the locking bar and then hook it around the other corner of the door. This forces the locking bar to follow the corner of the door better (quicker than gravity) and it also holds the locking bar down after it's shut (unless the rodent chews through the rubber band).Overall, I would highly recommend this trap. I've trapped rats, mice, and even a baby possum (it came in through the garage door and hid in the walls for a bit)!If you liked this review, click on the "Helpful" button so that I know I'm not wasting my time.

Awesome little trap.
Update. So far I've relocated 8. I thought I had all the ones I was gonna get but I guess we'll keep on hauling em to their new home. My neighbors are giddy the cute little rodents are gone.First day and I got 2 squirrels so far and relocated them across town. So far it's a great trap. Easy to set up and easy to release or empty. So my tally is 5 squirrels relocated. The last one won't go near it and must have seen the others. They are smart little rodents but, I'll take the 5 I got and keep working on the last one. This trap is a great value.
