Absolutely necessary and well worth it
This pole is designed to work with a survey rover headpiece and is very nice. Carbon fiber makes it lighter, and doesn't interfere with the compass. I'm hoping is doesn't conduct electricity either, but I didn't test that with any powerlines so I'm not sure 8^). Collapses neatly and comes with a bag, but it's durable enough to just throw in in the back of the car on the floor. Well made.

Easy to setup and lock.
Works well. has marked stops so you know the pole height without measuring. It is marked metric but you can mark the foot units on it if you convert. (1.5M = 4.92 U.S. Ft. ;-) )
