Every kitchen needs this…. I think!
My mom has the older version of the Delinghi Magnifia. Start. Hers does not have the milk frother with it. I eyeballed this thing for three years now. Took the plunge when it went on sale and purchased mine. O.M.G I am so happy I did. It was a bit intimidating setting it up (didn’t want to break anything), but the manual and quick start guide are a great point of reference. I did read some negative comments, and I would like to present my rebuttal here: 1. If you see coffee grounds in the coffee ground compartment of the machine, it doesn’t mean it is used. It does mean, it was tested and works as it should before being packed and shipped by the manufacturer. 2. Yes, you can froth milk without having to make a full blown coffee. Simply trick the machine by setting it to use "pre-ground" coffee. Just select the "pre-ground" bean setting, leave the little chute empty, and press your milk drink button. The machine will pump hot frothed milk into your cup without grinding or wasting any beans. 3. And this prompted a phone call to tech support (who was super nice)… when you first prime this machine, after putting water filter and water into your tank, you have to continuously tap the button with the settings wheel / x2 for about three minutes until all the air is pushed out of the line. The machine will make a god-awful grinding noise, that is normal. Keep tapping this buttons until water flow begins. At that point your machine is primed and ready for use. Recommended is to make several plain water runs before adding coffee. We did not have to adjust our bean grind settings. They are perfect as they are. You can adjust the cup size, easily explained in the instructions manual. Happy coffee drinking!

Disappointed — Failed right after warranty ended, poor quality control
I’ve always loved De'Longhi as a brand and wanted one of their espresso machines for a long time, but it was hard to justify the high price tag. When I finally reached a point where I could get it, I expected top-tier reliability. Instead, it stopped working after just 13 months—exactly one month after the 1-year warranty expired. This isn't my first bad experience with the brand either. A cheaper machine I owned from them only lasted 5 months. I figured I had just bought too cheap of a model, so I bought this machine for 7 times the price, assuming higher quality. Since it was the most expensive coffee maker I’d ever owned, I took exceptional care of it. I only used Reverse Osmosis (RO) water for both brewing and cleaning, ran the quick cleaning regularly, and took it apart to clean all components exactly as the manual instructed. Around month 12, the output started dropping drastically. I cleaned it again and searched everywhere online for solutions, but nothing worked. By month 13, it was barely pumping out 10 ml of coffee. To make matters worse, before getting a unit that actually worked initially, I had to deal with a unit that was Dead On Arrival (DOA)—meaning out of all my experience with them, I've dealt with 2 failed machines and 1 DOA unit. It took me several months to write this review because of how much I originally liked the brand, but it's clear De'Longhi isn't what it used to be. I’ve since switched to a different brand, and my new machine actually uses a proper 22g puck, whereas this machine only ever did 18g at most. After it died, I realized it wasn't even making as good of a coffee as I had thought. Save your money.

Fantastic machine!
This machine makes wonderful coffees, lattes and cappuccinos! Easy to use once you know how to use. It is a high quality machine and requires frequent descaling and filter changes, but well worth it. I wish the water container held a bit more water as we drink coffee a couple times a day. Love this machine and when you do have questions, their customer service is very patient and helpful.

Skip Was told you needed to buy De'Longhi Rivelia
I would not buy it. It is currently being returned. Cannot use Oily beans! Tastes terrible! The main reason is to get it for Mom. Quick out water for tea. Mom hated the taste of the water. Over 6 cups, it didn't taste that great. Have had espresso machines in the past and got great shots.

Great machine
It's been working great almost daily for about a year. Makes a better crema than any I've seen at a coffee bar. I have only used it with whole beans, never tried pre-ground coffee. The milk frother is easy and effective. I wish it could froth extra milk without grinding a new dose of coffee.

A reliable coffee machine
The machine is very noisy, which is disappointing. Another major issue is that the low coffee or water warnings don’t appear until after the brewing process has already finished. This wastes time and can also cause problems with the next cup. If there is leftover coffee grounds from the previous cycle, the machine may release them during the next process, resulting in an espresso with little or no coffee. Overall, I find the machine inconvenient and frustrating to use.

Same coffee better taste
I really like this coffee maker.Only thing the water reservoir is small for a big family of coffee addicts. What does not convince as is the defrother .Not for people with arthritis. It helps in giving you an amazing latte or cappuccino but it's difficult to disassemble for cleaning and still all those holes that you are not that sure they will be properly clean .If you know a little about microbiology you will understand and if you have cow milks and they report the colony unit formers you will understand what I'm talking about. .The clutch already leave a part in the lid.Could take it out that was the reason the milk was not passing to the cup.Once you get used to it you will love it.

Amazing product and quality for the price
I almost bought a Breville last week for double the price, and it was a manual machine. This is half the price when on sale and is completely automatic! It grinds, tamps, froths, and lets you customize strength with just one button. I didn’t even know De’Longhi made a fully automatic espresso machine at this price point. It’s an unbelievable value for the price, even in comparison to its twin, the EVO—almost all the same features, just without the touchscreen or app compatibility. This may be the best bang-for-buck espresso machine on the market. It comes with a water filter and a water hardness testing strip as well. Nicely packaged and very easy to set up; it only took about 20–30 minutes. Keep in mind it advises you to dump the first few rounds (3–4) of espresso to “prime” the brand-new machine. Very, very happy with this product and highly recommend it. I set the grinder to 3 based on what’s been said on the internet lol. 4 is also good, but I read a few people say 2 is too low. The machine can also use pre-ground coffee, but I will never use this option—if you pay good money to drink coffee, you should have freshly ground beans every time for the best experience. The milk frother is also amazing, easy to clean, and has indicator lines to show how much milk you’ll need to make 1 or 2 cappuccinos or latte macchiatos. Overall, I have zero complaints. Some people say it’s loud or slow, but honestly, all coffee grinders are loud. Not only does it make amazing espresso every time, but it’s fun to use and has the 2x button for longer shots! Remember to place a cup under the main spout when you turn it on and off, since the machine will automatically run a little bit of warm water to clean the lines. If you’re on the fence about which model or brand of espresso machine to buy, I would highly recommend the Magnifica Start. I do a lot of research before I purchase anything online, and the reviews and price point are amazing. Warning: You will drink more coffee if you buy this 😂

Incredible espresso machine!
This fully automatic machine makes phenomenal coffee. It grinds and brews perfectly, and the automatic frother makes lattes and cappuccinos completely foolproof. It looks sleek on the counter and is very easy to use and clean. Best purchase I’ve made in a long time! 5 stars.
