Pure Encapsulations Taurine 1,000 mg, 120 Capsules

i've tried several different brands, and this is the only one which seems to do anything for me. it's a bit more expensive, but "pure" does have a very good reputation, so i try to buy whatever supplements i like to take from this brand. my eyes don't blur like they used to, even though i've only been taking it a short time - i have a 'bit' more energy (i'm OLD), and i really think they're what has caused my A1C to be lower - actually it was GREAT just a few days ago (5.5) after being almost 7 for the last couple of years - actually fluctuating between 6.2 and 6.7. i was taking berberine too, so 'maybe' that helped boost the taurine, but i kinda doubt it since i was taking berberine for a couple years. and FYI for anyone who cares to know - i'm actually taking double the dose on the bottle, because i did some research and that's 'about' what i should be taking at my age (75) 3 months ago my doc was getting ready to put me on those DIABLO-MEDS (metformin or something like it) but right now she's not even thinking about anything like that. if you read all my drivel here and think you may wanna try taurine - first mention it to your doctor, and then decide whether or not you wish to believe pharmaceuticals are better than supplements which probably work just as well without harming one thing to help another. i didn't tell my doc i was taking them til the other day when she checked my blood, and she was absolutely fine with it if that's what brought my "sugar" down, and it pretty much had to be what did it because anything else i take i've been taking for years, and it hasn't helped til this stuff.

Help my reduce stress, and relax me at night

I take 2g daily (1g at night and another in the morning.) Thus plus magnesium threonate have been game changers for my tinnitus volume. Really, really helps. I’ve tried to stop and the volume always comes back.

Seems to be giving me a headache. But does help me sleep. Update 4/19 Turned out this wasn't the cause of the headache. So far, it helps sleep, seems to help muscle retention/growth, keeps me calm at work without falling asleep. Update 7/28/2018 Yes, the taurine does give me a headache, but only at first. The bigger issues is it increased my sleep apnea events and it increased my blood pressure. It also made me very weak. And it made me so out of it, I couldn't even put 2n2 together and realize this was causing my increase in apnea events. It also made me gain weight which isn't a surprise since it raises GABA which relaxes and slows down everything. If you look at the literature, you'll find a study done on mice (which most are), and that while it made male mice BP go down, it made female mice BP go up. So, not really a surprise thereThe good was it did help sleep; just too much. And it made my skin much better, which is due to its fluid equalizing activity. I had certain issues with skin for months just disappear while on this. Unfortunately, this is probably also why BP went up. I tried the 1,000 and the 500 and both affected me the same way. On the other hand, it made my daughter's anxiety much better. So final conclusion, if you don't have high BP or apnea, and you do have anxiety and sleep issues, then its a great supplement to take with dinner. Since none of that is why i bought it to start with, it didn't work for me for what I wanted. Update 1/26/2019 Found that it was this plus something else that made my apnea events so bad. Also, since the last review was put on fluid pills, so now that plus this makes my BP perfect. (Prob could avoid the fluid pills if I went low carb) I sleep now, still wake up several times a night, but with this I'm able to go back to sleep each time instead of getting up at 2:00 a.m.

If you are using Taurine, this is the one I found to be most pure.
