This reel savers me over 30 minutes a day I used to spend fooling with the pool cover! WOW!
Man, was this thing ver hard to set up! It took days to get it set up and adjusted, but once it was set up, it is easy to use. My problem is that I have a VERY COMPACT area to set up in with the pool 3 feet from the house on TWO sides and ZERO feet from my upper driveway! I live in the Appalachian mountains just below the peak of the ridge. In other words, my site is vertical! Getting the cover reel positioned was nearly impossible because of the space constraints. I'm going to have to saw off the stationary leg and mount it on a swivel attached to the driveway retaining wall so I can swing it out of the way when not in use. I still have some fine tuning to do, but this pool cover reel is just what I needed! I used to spend 15 minutes or more folding the pool cover, and even more time unfolding it to cover the pool when done swimming. Now? It takes 15 SECONDS to put the pool cover away, and less than 30 seconds to cover the pool again! What an improvement! A full half hour a day saved for better use! I love it! A friendly tip though: use something sharp and about 1/4 inch diameter to punch the holes through the pool cover!!! The pool cover clips are impossible for me to attach to the pool cover because I don't have enough hand strength. The only way I could install the clips was to poke a hole through both layers of the pool cover so I could snap the clips closed. Using something to poke the hole through made all the difference. Another point: You have to FOLD the pool cover to attach the clips. That will reduce the size of your pool cover by about an inch and a half. If you've trimmed your pool cover to the exact size of the pool, your pool cover will be a little bit too small. I started by buying a brand new pool cover, which I have NOT isntalled! I used my existing pool cover as a guinea pig because I knew from the sketchy instructions that I would be experimenting for a while to get thet pool cover reel set up and tuned for my pool. I'm VERY glad I did! I've had to readjust the clips about 6 times so far, and I may do it a couple more times before I'm fully satisfied. Another HUGE point! I have an 18 foot round pool. It turns out that is an IRREGULAR install! I started with the reel in the center of the pool. BAD IDEA!!! To get the pool cover reel to perform as I wanted I had no choice but to install the reel WAY off center! It is now mounted 1/4 the way from one side of the pool, and it works MUCH better mounted off center! If you have a square or rectangular pool, you would probably want to mount the reel about a foot off of the edge of the pool so you can roll it from the end of the pool. If your pool is round, oval, or has a designer shape like a kidney shape, you have to use the "irregular" mounting method. Yes, initial setup and tuning is a bit of a pain, but that's how life works. Anything worthwhile comes at a price. For the CONVENIENCE this pool cover reel delivers, it is MORE than worth the effort! I am giddily happy with it!

Fantastic Pool Reel at a Great Price - Read My Detailed Review
OK, so this Reel is Fantastic! I received both boxes with all the correct pieces. People have gave this bad reviews because they did not receive both boxes. It's easy to contact the seller and they will fix that, giving it a bad review because that is a joke. Next, people have given this bad reviews because it's light weight, and falls in the pool while unrolling/ROLLING or blows in the pool on windy days. It is not heavy and made of aluminum and plastic What those people did not see is the seller recommends sand bags to act as an anchor, and I bought a four pack of these on Amazon: ABCCANOPY Sandbag Saddlebag Photography Weight Bags for Video Stand,4 Packs (Black) - and filled them with, two of these from a big box hardware store: 0.5-cu ft Brown Pea Pebbles Gravel for 3.98 a bag. This Reel went together in about 30 minutes or maybe less it was very easy to put together. Now I ordered the 18 foot reel but my Deck tops out at about 14 Feet and my pool measurements, i.e. water area is 35 long by 12 wide. I thought since it expanded up to 18 feet wide I could make it go smaller to 12 feet wide, but nope the smallest it will go is 14 feet wide. The wheels look OK and I could see them breaking over time if left out exposed to the sun and elements or being rough on them. I am going to have the lady of the house make some covers to put over the wheels because out here in Southern AZ the sun beats up everything exposed no matter how well it's made or not. Some of the plastic parts I am going to rate at 4 stars durability wise. It maneuvers OK it's not bad at all I will give it 4 stars maneuverability wise. I am using a heavy 16mil Midwest Canvas 36 x 18 cover on mine, that has been cut down to 35 x 12 and have NO SAG in the middle what so ever like some people have complained about. I think since my reel is only expanded to 14 feet the tubing I am not extending is acting as reinforcement which is great. So if your pool is say 18 feet wide, buy the 21 foot reel and the tubing not used for expansion will act as reinforcement. I am in a wheel chair so my whole goal buying a reel and cover was to make it easy for the lady of the house to take this off and on all by her self, and as you can see in the video she can reel it right up no problem. I have a second video of her unrolling it but Amazon only lets one video per review, and in that video she can unroll it no problem all on her own. I have moved my reel closer to the pool so the cover is not scraping the deck when rolling and unrolling. With the sand bags filled with pea pebbles anchoring the reel this works like a breeze, I honestly think people don't follow instructions building this, missed seeing sandbags to anchor it, or are just clueless. The attaching clips and straps that come with it work great as well. I thought it might come with junky clips to attach to the cover but the clips are really good. I highly recommend this reel it works great and when we showed our neighbor's wife video of how this works she was like, ''send me the link, my husband makes me take ours off a certain way, fold it a certain way, and then put it back on gently,'' and she goes ''I want that reel you have because it's a pain every time we want to swim to have to remove the cover with out a reel'' This reel is fantastic! -NOTE-1: My yard is under constriction we removed all the rock from both sides of our pool and are adding hardscape stone. -NOTE-2: I may edit this review if something breaks and adjust my rating but right now it's 5 STARS -NOTE-3: The Sandbags may fade over time, but who cares as long as it holds the reel or they can be replaced.

Decent Pool Cover
Title: Effective and Practical Pool Cover Reel Set The VINGLI Pool Cover Reel Set for Inground Swimming Pools has been a valuable addition to our pool maintenance routine. While it's not perfect, it certainly gets the job done. First and foremost, this pool cover reel set is sturdy and well-constructed. It feels like it can handle the wear and tear of regular use, which is essential for a pool cover reel. The included hardware and instructions made assembly relatively straightforward, and I was able to set it up with minimal hassle. The reel system operates smoothly and is easy to use. Rolling and unrolling the solar cover is a breeze, and it has significantly reduced the time and effort required to cover and uncover our pool. This convenience alone has made it a worthwhile investment. The set also includes straps and clips to secure the cover, which is a nice touch. It helps keep the cover in place during windy conditions, ensuring it does its job effectively. The cover itself appears to be of decent quality and provides good solar heat retention. However, there are a couple of areas where this product could be improved. The included wheels are somewhat small, making it a bit challenging to move the reel around, especially on uneven surfaces. It would be great if they were larger for improved maneuverability. Additionally, the included instructions could be more detailed, as I found myself needing to make a few adjustments during installation due to unclear guidance. Overall, the VINGLI Pool Cover Reel Set serves its primary purpose of making pool cover management more efficient and less physically demanding. While it's not without its minor drawbacks, the value it adds to pool maintenance makes it a solid choice, especially considering its price point. With a few enhancements in design and instructional clarity, it could easily earn a full 5-star rating.

High Quality
This is a high quality product that since receiving has served my family well. Assembly was not as difficult as expected although the assembly instructions could be clearer.

Great - with some caveats
The attached picture shows the roller placed below the ledge wear I place it to use roller and before I trimmed the netting. . I’m going to have to get sand bags to hold it. This is a 2 PERSON OPERATION! I have a light leaf net and when I pull it out I need to have my wife help hold and guide. When rolling it up the wet net gets heavy and your need to have someone help guide the material so you don’t get snags. My pool is 18x34 and I had to trim the net width wise. The roller was fairly easy to put together HOWEVER one screw was different than depicted in instructions which added 20 minutes to the job. The roller is solid and works well but I don’t know how well it would work with a heavier poly propylene, solar pad… on a different note I bought the net on Amazon as well and it works great. However, to leave stick in the net when you roll it up on the roller and the leaves kind of get sandwiched on the roller. Not sure how I’m gonna fix that. I’m hoping the only need the roller for a couple of months when the leaves are falling that I plan on putting it away for the rest of the year I don’t think this is gonna work great for a heavier solar pad but I haven’t tried that.

Poor assembly instructions but good product
Seems to be quality material but instructions to assemble are not well written. Obviously had a Chinese to English translation service write instructions because some times didn’t make much sense. Easy to attach solar cover. Smooth to wind up or pull over pool.

Nice reel so far....
I have opened the box and assembled the reel but have not yet put it into use. Both boxes arrived by different carriers on the same day. Well packaged and undamaged. Instructions were sparse but adequate. Only one tricky part is switching the ends of the 3 tubes to go together, if it doesn't fit flip one tube. Overall construction looks very good. Extra pieces provide. Reel is sturdy and functions well. Grooves in tubes help strengthen them, wheels are heavy duty. Round handle is all ribbed plastic so I would expect that is the weakest piece of the assembly. Straps are easy to assemble and fit the grooves in the tube well. Clips that fasten to the solar blanket are single use snap to close. That means when this cover is replaced they will need to be replaced. It would have been better to have them reusable. Most likely I will drill out the snapping feature and use a SS bolt and nut to reuse them. Something to consider with this design of fixed wheels vs. other reels that have casters, is this reel only rolls in one direction. Moving it away from the end of the pool (opposite to the wheel rolling direction) will require a 3-point turn maneuver or picking one end up and moving it over. I did not go with the castor reels because I was concerned with their durability and ability to roll on my concrete deck. The advantage of this design is you do not need to secure it to the deck. The wheel orientation and the large base should be more stable than the caster design reels, but that hasn't been proven yet. Overall I am satisfied so far... but I haven't used it yet.

Missing a vital part right out of the box.
I sat aside a Saturday morning to assemble this solar reel. It is replacing a Doheney solar reel that I had for 30 years, which I gave away to a friend who has continued to use it. This was a little less expensive and I was putting a heater on the pool trying to save money and I think I’m going to live to regret it. The first step is to put two wheels on a metal T Instead of a screw or cotter pin you put through a hole it has an aluminum cap. It looks like the cap off of an old pop bottle. They only sent me one of the correct size out of four. Apparently the two larger ones go somewhere else and then I should’ve had two to fit the wheels.I reached out through Amazon and told them my problem went directly to their website. Their website has a link where you can send them an email you’re supposed to put your name then your email then your message which I did it kept highlighting my name saying you could only use English letters. well that’s what I was using. I finally just was only able to put my first name. Sent at least three emails where they asked me to send them pictures which I did of the part. I told them the number number 19 of the part. I wish I would’ve gone with the $300 Doheney reel which had lasted me 30 years. I doubt that the wheels are going to stay on this since there’s only a cap that you tap down on an axle using a rubber mallet. Once you get a heavy solar cover on this thing and roll it up and put a cover over your cover and have to maneuver this to store it for the winter I don’t believe these wheels are going to stay on this thing and I think I’m going to live to regret this purchase. I reached out in my email and asked if I can go online to a website and purchase the cap from them which is number 19. I set aside a morning specifically for this project and within five minutes, I was already stopped in my tracks. I did save the boxes. I am so glad I did that. I hate to return a big solar reel but if I don’t get satisfaction, I’ll do just that. After spending a week trying to get these people to send me the little wheel cap. They’ve decided the easiest thing would be to issue me a full refund and I can pack up these 2 eight foot long metal poles in one box and then all the other stuff in another box but they’re only sending me one label to return it. So I could probably spend another two weeks trying to get them to send me two labels one for each box and then it’s so big I have to figure out how to get Amazon to pick it up . It has been nothing but exasperating dealing with this company and this product. I finally went online and ordered a cap from a hardware siteto hold the wheel on I wish I would’ve got the Doheney’s solar reel and I advise you to do the same thing.
