I installed a Kenwood receiver in our 2005 Honda CRV but it was only for wired CarPlay. I used it this way for a couple of years but thought why not go wireless. I purchased this Wireless CarPlay Adapter and it was very easy to setup. I plugged it into the USB port of the receiver and the Bluetooth and Wi-fi on my iPhone immediately recognized it. There is a light on the top of the adapter that shows solid green when it's working properly and blinks when it's initializing. The connection to my phone takes a few seconds to connect via it's private Wi-fi connection but the connection is very stable and with almost no lag. The cost of this adapter is very inexpensive for the quality of what it does. Highly recommend.

I was excited to see this adapter for CarPlay, I had tried many versions of different brands over the last few years and have never had one that actually worked. This little dongle works ---- BUT it works very very sporadically. Connecting it was easy, but out of the gate it didn't work. Then the next day I started the car and it connected almost instantly, but that was the last time. It connects, basically when it wants to and takes forever when it does actually connect. For instance, today I was at the gym, started the car and started driving home --- almost half way home, it finally connected to CarPlay. Followed all the instructions to the T, but it's definitely not instant connection. I will keep it, only because it was so cheap (under $10) but would I pay $40 bucks for it -- no way. It's just not that good. Also, I tried to upgrade the software by following the details in the manual, and it said it had the latest software upgrade, so just be aware, it may work, it may not...I drive a 2018 Nissan Maxima Platinum with CarPlay installed from the factory and have a iPhone 15Pro Max phone, so everything is up to date, but still not as good as I wanted.

Initial testing went fairly well. Very simple to get going. Plug it in, connect your phone to the device through Bluetooth, and you’re on your way. It perform just as well as another brand I have I use for another vehicle for the most part. Swiping through main screens on my dashboard works okay, although a bit slow. My other branded device is the same way, so no knock there. It really isn’t that bad. One positive to note: this new product seems to perform better connecting to the microphone right away when I turn on my vehicle. This product connects seemingly immediately, allowing me to use talk to text immediately. My other one, it takes 5-10 minutes to connect, which is strange, but is the one downfall about that other branded product. One negative to note on this new product: I had tried to look up a gas station nearest me on my GPS, and the suggestions had given me ones that were 5+ hours away from me. Very strange, and would be very inconvenient when driving and trying to keep eyes on the road. Due to this, 4/5 stars. I will upgrade my rating if there is an improvement in this performance area.
