The summer of 2010, will see the publication of the new Rockfax guidebook - "West Country Climbs" - a major new Rockfax guide to one of the UK's most celebrated, sunny and diverse climbing regions. The book will be fashioned in Rockfax's award-winning layout and design, and will be copiously illustrated with action photographs of the climbs and cliffs that reflect the quality and variety of climbing experiences to be had on offer in the UK's most popular holiday destination - the West Country. The book covers around 800 of the West Country's most popular and highest calibre climbs, which span the full spectrum of climbing styles and grades; from committing multi-pitch sea cliff routes, to easy-going inland sport climbs. The rock ranges from the moorland and sea cliff granites of Dartmoor and West Penwith, through the geological weirdness of North Devon and Cornwall, to the multitude of limestone's on parade in Devon, Somerset, Avon and Dorset. "West Country Climbs" will be an essential reference book to the climbing available in the region. The guidebook will appeal to the holidaying or regular visitor to the West Country whilst also offering a vast amount of up-to-date and inspirational coverage for the local climber. Review: A must have for climbers! - Brilliant book! So many amazing climbs, doubles as a travel book if you aren't a climber, as a photographer or hiker it takes you to some excellent views and places. Beautifully presented and informative, a must by for dedicated climbers. Review: Usual quality - great pictures and clear lines - Usual Rockfax excellence. As always there's the every so slightly vague description of the walk in, but the pictures and info is spot on. We used this specifically for Baggy Point on the Easter weekend, and looking through this we were able to find guidance on the "bird bans" in the area which restrict climbing on some faces during bird nesting season. It would have properly spoilt our weekend if we hadn't done this research in advance, and this guide led the way. Top marks. My advice, buy the DMM climbing book cover, as these books always look tatty after a few days on the crag.

It is also an excellent read for non-climbers particularly walkers of the SW Coastal ...
One of the most comprehensive books on climbing that I have seen. The research, photographs and details are an absolute credit to the author(s). A must for any standard of climber coming to the South West of England. Value for money is outstanding. It is also an excellent read for non-climbers particularly walkers of the SW Coastal path and Dartmoor..Many thanks.

Why would you want to DO this!
This was a suggested pressy for no 3 son who is "into" rock climbing so I assume it is what he wants but.......looking at the excellent photos.....WHY would anyone want to INTENTIONALLY set out to cling to a rock hanging out over the sea or anywhere come to that. Otherwise arrived promptly and well packed as ever.

Exactly What We Needed
A simple and easy guide to use - perfect for a group of us with no idea where we going to have an amazing week climbing on Dartmoor. We found the rocks, the routes and the grades we wanted with no trouble at all. This would definitely not have happened without West Country Climbs. It's also good encouragement to go explore climbing elsewhere, since it's so easy to use.

Great Guide
This is a great guide. Lots of photos, lots of descriptions - have used this every week for the past two year's. Not as many descriptions as Nick White's and quite big for the back pack but still absolutely vital.

Rock climbing
A comprehensive book showing the classic climbs of the West country, covering sea cliffs and moorland routes. Good diagrams and pictures of the routes which cover all grades of climbing

worth a read
An excellent overview of the west country, and well worth looking at if you don't know whats out there, but you will want some of the more focused guides to places like cheddar.
